The Fast and Furious movies are fucking awesome and I've seen the first one more than 20 times probably. Maybe not an unpopular opinion in the sense that these movies make a ton of money, but try telling anyone that you enjoy them and chances are that person will just look at you and go "really?" and think less of you because you enjoy some dumb movies.

The first Fast and the Furious Movie scratched an itch and I have no problem with it. It's the perfect definition of "It's On" movie.

Then the rest of the movies equates "being able to drive fast" with "Being able to defy physics". Then my brain turned off.

Half-Life and Portal are ok. Just ok.
It's understandable to not see what made Half-Life so great in this modern day. Unlike some classics, it hasn't aged very well. It's very much a "you had to have been there" kind of game. Portal was seen as awesome though due to the innovative portaling concept itself and the humor just made it better. I am curious though about your opinion of Half-Life 2 and Portal 2.
Well, the thing is, alot of what made Half-Life 2 great is all stuff that at the time was new and revolutionary, but now is standard.

The first movie to have sound that came from the movie was mind-blowing at the time, but isnt exactly a work of art by today's standards.

Mine's more for anime in particular, rather than media in general, but I think that Akira is horrifically bad.

And now for the funner one...

I liked the Mass Effect 3 ending (pre-"fix"; I never even played the game after the supposed fixed ending so I have never even seen what changes were made). Maybe I just have a low tolerance for entertainment or maybe everything happened to fall in line perfectly with how my own story went but I thought that the Mass Effect 3 ending was not only tolerable but good.

Granted, it could have been better but I think that people were expecting "Suicide Mission" level of customization for all the decisions made over the trilogy, which is not what I had expected at all. But yeah, overall, I liked the ending of Mass Effect 3.
I always liked the ideas of the endings, not how I would have gone I admit, but I could appreciate the ideas behind them.

What I always find hard to believe though from people who liked the shipped endings, is that they liked the execution of them. We are told that our choices will drastically change the galaxy and then get shown three near identical sets of cinematics. Forget taking into account what happened during the trilogy, it's like Bioware didn't even take into account the one choice we made at the end.
I cannot speak for others who liked it but for myself, the illusion of choice that is done well works just as well for me. Maybe what I felt should happen and what the game had happen just so happened to work out to something that made sense but as long as the game did a good enough job into tricking me into thinking my choices mattered, I'm perfectly fine with it.

Hell, Telltale games are some of my favorite games and their entire schtick is to trick the players into thinking that their choices mattered toward the story.

Dragonball Super is a glorified fan fic and more of the same bullshit. The Buu saga is worse than GT. At least GT tried to capture the adventure of the original Dragonball.

Avatar (James Cameron) is one of the worst movies ever made and why anyone would be lined up for three more movies is beyond me. That whole cliche protect the environment message has been done better with Ferngully, Princess Monokoe, Sonic CD, and even fucking Captain Planet.

There are anime better than their manga counterparts; if the manga came out first that is. See Shaman King, Gunsmith Cats, Outlaw Star, Trigun, or Ghost in the Shell.

I prefer dubs over subs in most anime; especially now that the industry has talented people who effort into the script, voice acting, and directing.

Guyver: Dark Hero is the best live-action adaption of an anime ever made. No contest.

The Taken movies are not good, with the first being the best, only because it's average. Liam Neeson best are either A Team, Darkman, or The Grey.

Lucy sucked and is the worst film to star Scarlette Johanson.

Asura's Wrath is the best God of War and DBZ (until FighterZ comes out) game ever made.

San Andreas is the worst GTA barring GTA1 and London.

Looking back now, Legend of Korra is average overall, even with the improvements. However, the love triangle, Season 2, how they handled Aang and Toph's characterization, Suuyin Beifong, and the Spirits are all shitty decisions. And I don't want Mike or Bryan to work on future shows should the series be green lit.

The Loud House is okay, but suffers for similar reason like Ed, Edd, n Eddy and CatDog. Most of Lincoln's sisters are unlikable bitches. Looking at you Lynn, Lori, Lisa, and Lola! And he suffers from too much abuse at times. While different from Sponge Bob, it is not the game changer Nickelodeon needed.

Man of Steel was a great movie, and The Dark Knight Rises was a satisfying end to the Nolan trilogy.

Speaking of Nolan, I never liked Inception. It relied too much on exposition, instead of letting the audience figure out things on their own. The characters don't act like people or how they talk. Dark City and Evil Within 1 and 2 did things much better. Especially the latter; Shinji Mikami took those ideas in a crazier direction that benefited from going nuts with being in someone else's mind.

Vanquish is the best cover shooter of last generation. It's even better with the PC version running at 60fps.

Metal Gear Rising is the best game in the franchise, and is a better Ninja Gaiden game than the whole modern trilogy.

I can't blame you, considering it's a compressed adaption of a manga that was not finished at the time. I found it enjoyable, but film is overrated and get too much praise from the old-school anime community. The visuals are still amazing, yet the story suffers heavily for it.

I don't think Game of Thrones is a good show. Its boring when its not incredibly boring, and it took 7 years for anything interesting, ie zombies vs dragons, to happen. Its bad fantasy, bad porn, bad acting, and bad writing. Everything it offers me I can get better elsewhere.
Damn, beat me to it.

The Peter Jackson LotR films are boring to me, Fallout 4 is not as bad as people make it out to be, dubs aren't bad, it's ok to like lewd things and Star Wars is OK.

Southland Tales is a really good movie, no movie Richard Kelly has ever been involved in has been anything less than brilliant.

No show HBO produced or aired before or since has been better than Carnivale.

DS9 is the worst Star Trek property. Worse than any of the individual shows or movies.

Legend of the Seeker and The Dresden Files are better ways of adapting a series to television than A Game of Thrones.

I had way more fun with Final Fantasy VIII than I did with VII.

I can get behind that. I'll even add that crafting makes Fallout better.

Fair enough. When I said "no archives" I meant in the sense that there wasn't a pre-existing list. But through my wikia homepage (it's a better method of ordering the fics you saw), that's a case of me looking up medias and being reminded of esoteric thoughts on them.

"Roguelikes" are basically in-game purchases for people who have too much time rather than too much money. Rather than string the player along until the difficulty curve or mandatory time-outs make them reach for their wallet, they hold the scant amount of content they bothered to create out of reach until the player has died a certain number of times to unlock the workable builds and/or learned the requisite unnecessarily arcane systems. Then they make the player go through the same crap they've seen a hundred times again, hoping that this time, they'll get a fair roll of the dice.

They are one of indie game companies' biggest crutches, and they need to be killed with fire.

Sure, there's more bad Batman fiction because he's popular but there's also more good Batman fiction because he's popular too. Wolverine's popularity may have hurt some of the X-Men movies but it also enabled Logan to exist. BvS exists because of The Dark Knight Returns, there's so much wrong with that movie that it's far far from the fans' giddiness over Batman that was the movie's downfall. Also, watching that clip makes all the people complaining about destruction in Man of Steel all the more hilarious. There's probably a smart and interesting way to write any character taking down any other character honestly, just because the writer didn't do a good job is hardly Batman's fault. I know very little about actual comic book continuity as I've never really been into that medium (due to several reasons) but wasn't the first Marvel/DC crossover fights' winners determined by fan voting? That might've been the case with the Batman vs Hulk crossover to. I think taking stuff like that seriously is a mistake. One of the hardest things for writing fight scenes for any characters is knowing the extent of each character's powers and what it enables them to do, that's really the biggest mistake made with regards to really any characters. Super-speed alone is really so powerful and the abilities it gives a character is quite ridiculous that coming up with a legit threat is pretty hard.

Bioshock Infinite is simplistic, pretentious, and hypocritical.

Bioshock 2 is badly underrated.

Most television shows and most films are not especially good. I watch a lot of garbage and some good stuff but the majority of it is just mediocre.

Heroes season 1 was a solid 4. Dexter season 1, maybe a 6. Had Breaking Bad not been so well acted, it would probably be here too. And if it were not for tits and fighting, the same would probably be true of Game of Thrones. I do still watch it though.

For me, TV is either popcorn (the above) or shows like The Wire or the Sopranos or Mad Men. Stuff that was trying to say something and not just be an empty spectacle, shows with substance. This makes me kind of pretentious I know but it's hard to watch David Simon's stuff and go back to everything else.

EDIT: I also hate Quentin Tarantino and almost everything he has done, high-pitched speaking awkward-ass, wannabe gangster ************. The last good thing he did was Jackie Brown and the sooner him and his collection of dull, style-over-substance, hyperviolent films retires, the better. And the fact that he did his own voice over in The Hateful Eight makes me want to commit seppuku. I feel the same about Christopher Nolan. The guy makes slightly above average blockbusters, stop creaming yourself already. The Dark Knight Rises was a convoluted mess and Bane sounded like Sean Connery huffed a whole cylinder of nitrous.

EDIT 2:ELECTRIC BOOGALOO: Terminator 2 and Aliens are also not that great. The Terminator was a dark, brooding, well-paced tech-noir and Alien was a tense, claustrophobic monster romp. And while the practical effects don't hold up too well today, all James Cameron did with them was take the concepts and make them more polished but also louder and stupider, which seems to be his MO.

A few more, inspired by this thread:

I love the Akira movie, which many people do, but I also think it's much better than the comic book.

I found the first Alien movie so dull I could never sit through it, despite multiple attempts. I disliked the second movie also because I think that putting this creature in an action movie was stupid. I actually prefer the third and especially the fourth movie over the first two. Third may have gone through development hell and it wasn't the best execution, but at least it was back to basics and it had the potential to be great. Fourth is just all out madness, which I can appreciate.

I don't get what's supposed to be so great about the Nolan Batman movies. His attempted realism, while interesting in theory, just proved to me that Batman and realism don't go well together. And a movie cannot potentially be 'dark and gritty' if you still have meatheads in the audience who want to trade their lives in to be Batman, which these movies did not enough to set themselves apart from. It's still just power fantasy dressed up as something else.

I haven't seen Logan. I never really liked the Wolverine character as much. But in so, while Logan is great, the Fans made me dislike the X-men movies with their wolverine love as well. There's a way to do the X-men series while still holding onto the core selling point of the X-men: The entire cast. Everyone has a favorite X-men, and everyone wanted to see their favorite in action.

What did we get in X-men? Here's what Wolverine thinks of everything. Your favorite character is Colossus (he's mine), sorry, we need to cut him for more Wolverine Scowling. Hey, do you like Cyclops? Great! He'll be featured more than the rest because Wolverine needs someone to make fun of!

Logan means more spotlight on Wolverine. I already have had almost two decades of that. And yes, it might be a terrific movie, but I'm oversaturated at the IDEA of Wolverine that I don't feel I can give this movie a fair look. The same can be said about Kevin Hart, who was funny in like... two movies until I realized all he has is that he's short and loud. Likewise, Spiderman is my favorite Marvel character, but we also have near two decades of reboots with him that I haven't even wanted to try to see something of his for years.

Batman Vs Superman exists for the fans' needs for superiority. The Dark Knight Rises only heightened Batman's popularity, but there is almost NO fan base as rabid in trying to prove their hero is better than Batman's fans hatred of Superman. I can't even count the number of heroes there are... So why don't we have Spiderman vs Logan? Captain America VS Logan? Hulk vs Thor would give people the high end destruction they want. Civil War was just a storyline from Marvel, so I won't count that.

Writers sat down and thought up a scenario that they could get Superman and Batman to fight because they know the one sided rivalry between the fans. Superman and Batman are best friends who trust each other implicitly in the comic books. But a team up between them wouldn't sell as many tickets as a pissing contest between them.

Mia and Sebastian were both self-absorbed dickwads in La La Land, but I still loved the film and rooted for them.

I think Ilsa moved on way too fast from Victor in Casablanca, I have trouble seeing how choosing between him and Rick is any considerable dilemma.

Happiness was the best movie of the 90's.

If you don't cry watching Stand by Me, you lack a soul.

Most of Tarantino's work is overrated, and Inglorious Basterds was really his masterpiece.

Mildred Ratched was cold, but wasn't actually a bad person, and I find it absurd that both Kesey and Forman wanted you to root for and empathize with MacMurphy, out of any other character. Bromden murdered his father due to his psychological instability and paranoid delusions, him fleeing the hospital should definitely not be a happy ending, in fact, it's terrifying. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, despite being one of my favourite books and movies did a lot of damage to the psychiatric profession.
