Sadly, I don't know that much about our mythology really. I know many of the names and some stories. But I wish I knew more. So I think I will read through that wiki page myself tomorrow when I got time :p

Anyway, it's about Odin and stuff. And, you know... THOR!
Danish here... Soo... Borrowing your link^^

I live in holland, and I have no idea what kind of mythology we have here... If we even have any. Though there's this which almost replaces christmas: (I hope this'll work) Sinterklaas. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinterklaas]
I wouldn't call Sinterklaas mythology. The only real mythology we have is the Saxon mythology which is basically the Norse mythology except that we call Odin "Wodan" and have some more similar Dutchified names for stuff.
Yeah, that's why I said I wasn't sure.
And: wait, we have that? Isn't that the same as calling God God, but in a dutch-sounding-way?
Depends on how you look at it. Odin and Wodan are the same things and it's obvious that Wodan is a 'Dutch dialect' version of Odin, though Wodan is actually written as Wodan as well - they are different words. It's not simply that we 'pronounce' Odin as Wodan.

Yeah, I know, but I was merely mentioning that we 'translate' the names of lots of stuff, like what the romans did to Zeus, Jupiter's the same guy. It just doesn't really make it feel like "our" mythology.

Man. I know America has its own little set of myths, and some Native American legends, but when I look at European mythology...it just kinda falls flat. :/

Im preeeeeeetty sure it was theese guys :p

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indigenous_peoples_of_the_Americas

But yes! Vikings R awesome!

Theese people walked across the Berring Street, during the ice-age.. Cool.. And Columbus sailed across the Atlantic, only with lemons, early navigation-instruments and small 3-deck ships... Awesome!
But if that is awesome... What about the vikings.. Who did the same thing, without the instruments, the lemons, and with open boats! Thats not awesome.. Thats something else entirely! :D

In the USA~!

Our Native Americans had legends!! The US and our brother, Canada--our Native populations had a lot of [a href=http://www.firstpeople.us/FP-Html-Legends/Legends-AB.html]varied and widespread[/a] legends and mythology. As did our other colonial brothers, Australia and New Zealand.

Nothing like--say, King Arthur and his Knights or the Vikings and Frieya and such because our Natives were their own individual "nations" before the Europeans came--but we have mythological roots with them.

In America we aren't, sadly, taught nearly enough about it but it's actually all really fascinating stuff. I was lucky enough to take a class on it in college.

Well, Finland has Kalevala. It's about as good as national epics go.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kalevala

If someone's interested. It's quite an epic tale telling the story of Väinämöinen, a shaman/sorcerer the creation of the earth and his travels.

Don Rosa made a Donald Duck story with Kalevala as a theme, dunno if anyone's ever seen it, but it was quite good.

EDIT: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Quest_for_Kalevala
That's the comic. I've read that particular one so many times, Don Rosa really has an amazing sense for detailing his comics. Awsome is the word!

We don't have any legends that I'm aware of...

Wait, do both Roswell and Area 51 count as mythology and legends?
You know, because they are both very alien heavy, and shrouded in secrecy?

Or do you mean mythology and legends like stories?
Because thats what we don't have a lot of.
What about John Henry, Paul Bunyan, Johnny Appleseed, Bigfoot Wallace, and Pecos Bill? That is just to name five. There are tons of these old Folk tales.

They may not be as old as the ones from other countries but the stories are there. Folk Tales, tall tells and legends.

I'm an American so there aren't many "origin of the universe" myths outside the Native Americans. Here are a few legends I know of.

Cthulhu.
Paul Bunyan.
George Washington cutting down a cherry tree.
Johnny Appleseed.
Davie Crockett.

I'm from Sweden so it's the usual norse mythology stuff. I do prefer greek mythology, but norse mythology is still good. One thing that I think is cool are not really mythology bound but anyway, old wooden viking churches. If you haven't seen them Google it because they're friggin' awesome!

I'm Danish, so it's norse mythology all the way. Shit be wacky. The weirdness is out in force already at the origins, with the Gods and Giants growing out from the Giant Ymir's armpits and feet. The gods then killed Ymir and crafted his corpse into the world.

I can't really say anything on folk tales however, I always get confused on which part of europe they're from.

A plucking:

Holger Danske(Ogier the Dane), said in his saga to be a knight of Charlemagne. There is a statue of him in the basement of the castle Kronborg in Helsingør(of Hamlet fame). It is said that when Denmark is faced with imminent destruction, he will awaken and gather the danes to save their country, that the blood will flow up to knee height and then there will be peace. However, there will be no more danes left than can be seated at a single tale.

Trivia: Holger Danske was also the name of a resistance group during the nazi occupation of Denmark.

Australian mythology mostly belongs to the Aboriginal people, and they have very strong spiritual beliefs. The one we were taught about in school the most was the 'Rainbow Serpent', a huge snake who carved out the rivers as it slithered around the place. This is the most universal story, but Aboriginal folklore varies depending on where you go.

I don't know too much about the mythology of the local Indigenous tribe, the Miriwung Gajerrong, if I'm honest. I don't think they let non-aboriginal people teach their beliefs without their permission.
