I heard several about MLG often and read a couple of new stories about them. And I just wanted to know what is the escapist's opinion on MLG.

There link to their site http://www.mlgpro.com/

I laugh at them. Silly people trying too hard. Plus, it's amusing as hell to kill them while singing a cheerful tune.

if they can make money by simply playing video games, then more power to them. but i will never be giving them any of my money directly. gaming has never really been a spectator sport.

Its cool to see people make money off of gaming by actually...gaming. I wish I could do it to be honest, but as it stands, I'm not in it and I don't really care that it exists.

Guess I'm indifferent to the whole thing.

Well that last comment is up for debate, but still...

That and not to to mention their USI levels are extremely high, which in turn propels their egos into super orbit. Want an example? Watch that one reality show involving gamers. I've also noticed that anything produced and supported for use by the MLG tend to be on the pricey side.

with absolutely no prior history with it i open the link and i see ads, ads, ads, ads, and in the bottom left corner there are a few links to movies with obscure titles suggesting some sort of clan related group gameplay of some shooter i don't even recognize.

My opinion is somewhere in between avoid and DO NOT WANT.

If they can make money doing what they love, more power to them. But as far as my life goes, they hold absolutely no importance.

Same as my opinion of any major league sport that doesn't soak billions from the US economy: "meh."

for those that do: "FFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU..."

I have no problem with the idea, but the people are the biggest douches in the world.

well then, let's debate. i personally cannot think of a game that is more fun to watch being played than to actually play yourself. the only ones i can think of that even come close are something like battletoads where the sheer difficulty of it makes me want to see if it is actually possible to beat it at all.

Not as a sport, but off the top of my head Rock Band, Call of Duty, Halo, Split Second, and a few others are games ive had fun spectating and playing with my mates. Good Party games to have fun as a group with. Plus the Kinect and Wii are really emphasis that.

Whenever I see people who are affiliated with MLG on TV they rub me the wrong way. Case in point: T-Squared or whatever his name is on G4 and the head of MLG was on ESPN and had no idea what he was talking about.

I remember the days when there was the CPL. Which is basically MLG now.

While in general I agree with your point of view, I do have to say that in general most sport fans enjoy playing the sport more than watching it. I'm a big baseball/football guy. I love to watch, but I liked playing more (just too old and slow to do it anymore all that much). The same can be said of spectating in video games.

Of course I like golf as well, but I hate watching it and that's my opinion on watching MLG. Just isn't engaging enough.
