However, gratuitous nudity and sexual content in a game is a pointless waste of money that could be used to improve the game in ways that advance the industry. It is a disgusting practice, and anybody who plays a game for the sex appeal is both wasting their money and wasting themselves.
If it sells games, there must be a market and I'm not going to tell someone how to make their money. If the sexual content is done in a crass way just for titilation it's usually by developers who specialise in these areas.
I don't think they're taking any money away from TEAM ICO.

I won't buy this specialized stuff it so it doesn't effect me.
Censorship and certification is there to protect young minds who don't know better.

I don't see it as a problem, if a consumer is there, it's the choice of the developer/designer.

They shouldn't have nudity or sex in videogames. The artistic justification argument doesn't wash with me because I don't think videogames succeed as a narrative medium. Interaction is inherently at odds with the passive linearity required by storytelling. Maybe it will be ok in ten, or twenty years time to bring in nudity then sex after the videogame has evolved into a bona fide artform. However, we are really still at the early Kinetoscope era of Cinema:

My opinion is that there is not enough of it.

Until games can get away with the same amount of sex and nudity at the same rating as films, there is not enough of it.

i think the reason this has so much controversy because alot of people are not comfortable with talking, seeing, or anything in general to do with something of a sexual nature. So they think if they put something like this into a game that it may ruin it. Others don't use it because the game will be played by children and they want to be able to sell as many copies as they can. And maybe some publishers of video games have morals and don't want this in their game. Just my opinion though

I honestly think that there is nothing wrong with video game nudity. With this being said, I do agree that there is a time and a place for it. For example, Mass Effect had a possibility to have a romantic relationship in it and there was a brief sex scene(not even sure if a half of second of a woman's ass qualifies as a sex scene)that was appropriate. Even God Of War had a good reason for having the sex mini-game in it because the Greek culture was filled with nudity.(Not to mention violence and sex) Nudity is nothing special and besides, at one point in your life you will see another naked person. Nudity is as much apart of life as is sex, violence, and death.

As long as it doesn't pop up somewhere I don't expect it, I couldn't care less. If people get off on that, let them.

Sexual innuendo on the other hand, I think thats just hilarious. Fallout 3 brought it up several times and made me laugh.

They would make a nude sculpture, and not CGI porn.

With something as scrutinized as the video game industry, I think that producers should avoid nudity unless they can handle the body purely as art.
Agreed. I think it could help make a game more realistic or have more immersion, but let's be honest here, it wouldn't be used to a good extent.

I think that it should be handled with maturity, and it would be fine (naked art in games, naked females in certain situations where they would be (instead of coming out of the shower with a bathing suit on, lololol), and I think that people would jump in place for a while if penis physics existed.

In Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, you unequip all your gear and you still have some small underwear on, but I'm sure that if your character didn't, people would play the whole game naked, or just use it to act out some fantasies involving the monsters in the game and your sorceress.

But in games involving amazon women? Yeah, they'd be topless, most likely. Sure, there'd be players like OMG BEWBS, but some people would just appreciate how it makes sense with the lore.

The body can certainly be used artistically in games, but in the end I think it would just be "Dead or Alive Beach Volleyball: Unrated!" or give fighting games the ability to tear the shirt and pants of the players involved (Which could be more realistic, and dare I say awesome if I finished a battle with half my clothing gone and bleeding and such), but it would end up with people putting Sophitia on "CPU level 1" and just ripping off her top.

My faith in humanity is low, and Rockstar includes a penis in games just to annoy people, so nudity being art is games is probably unlikely.

But anyway, they should be allowed to make the games. I just won't buy them.

What he said. I wrote a long post before... but some internet problem got it wipped off and pissed me off utterly.

Just show that the characters did have sex without making it sexy or having nudity, so that things makes sense from a roleplaying perspective and keeps immersion.

The idea of having sex in a game (nudity or just simply pandering fanservice) would just cause gamers to be so focused on these parts and forget the beautiful plot and dialouge and gameplay and stuff, and ruin their experience of the game. That happened to be for mass effect....

Fahrenheit had interactive sex bits.

Case closed.
Only Fahrenheit did, though. Indigo Prophecy had it cut out to get the M rating. Personally, I don't see why they should not have nudity in games. They have it in books, graphic novels, movies, stage plays, (possibly) webcomics, TV...why not video games? I mean, sure, you can have it...but it is an automatic M rating. Hell, DOA is rated M for skimpy clothing. I suppose what I'm saying is that we should judge movies and video games by the same standards, not be harsher on videogames than any other medium.

Edit:

...You were so distracted by half a second of sideboob that it ruined the beauty of that scene for you? To each his own, but that seems to be a little too much. I mean, I would have barely noticed it had I not been looking for it. I mean, sure, they show the characters' bare backsides, but saying that's distracting is like saying you are distracted by a woman sleeping in a bed, with bare shoulders exposed.

I think it's contextual. If there's plausible reason for it, then sure, but if you're just throwing it in there to be M rated, or "controversial" then no.
This, really. I really hate what Rockstar is doing at the moment with the whole penis thing. They just want to be controversial. I can see why they're doing it though, after all, controversy sells.

Even sex in a game can be acceptable. God of War 1 and 2 used it as a minigame to good effect, without selling out with it. Fable 2 used it as a means of gaining children in a realistic way (no storks or cabbage leaves). Both of these games managed to convey the sexual action in a non-filthy way.
no offense, but did you play god of war? non filthy way my ass. on that note it was a really hard mini game. I had to retry a couple o times 'fore I got it.

I completely agree with the rest of your statement though. The only reason it's a problem is because games are viewed more as toys than media entertainment. But it's getting better, I think putting nudity in games will make parents realize that. Meaning they will be more aware of what their kids are playing. Hopefully resulting in better parenting and not the banning of games, as Im sure some will resort to that.

It's only a matter of time before we have mainstream porn games.

That's not a bad thing, nuditiy is in every other form of media, even radio. Why should gaming be any different?

Well, I regularly compare games to other forms of media like movies and television, and both of them do it, so why the bloody hell not?
