A maul.
Trivial to use, and an effective combination of bludgeoning and slashing damage.
I'm not experienced enough with swords to incapacitate effectively without being overrun. Spears are easy to use, but also easy to break or get stuck.
A maul is versatile (a hammer and an axe!), powerful (heavy and large enough to use two-handed), simple and durable. Not only can you use it as a weapon, but also as a tool for getting through obstacles.

I'd have to go with either a machete or a hatchet. both are useful and both are very durable and easy to handle, tho the danger of getting a hatchet stuck in a zombie is a bigger risk than the machete, since they can slice through bone with little problem.

If I could weild it I would use a 40K Thunderhammer
As there is a chance I couldn't lift the damned thing, I'd go for a sledgehammer with a reinforced shaft, don't want it breaking mid-swing!
A third choice, which would be impossible to use, but awesome, would be my special conversion "Planet Shaker" basically a thunder hammer for a dreadnaught

No. Just no. See, outside of anime and hollywood, the katana is kind of the worst thing you could use for survival-combat. Oh sure, it's plenty sharp and shiny, but it's main advantage is it's insane edge. As it turns out, though, that edge is kinda fragile. Also, zombie canon states that the only way to kill a zombie is to, quoting Sean Of The Dead, "remove the head, or destroy the brain". Now, while one might be able to kill a few zombies with a katana, it'd be both difficult and impractical. I mean, do you have any idea how hard is is to shear through the human skull? I'll give you a hint: it's really, really hard. Not to mention that due to the edge fragility that I mentioned earlier, you could only do it a few times. Frankly, you'd be better off with a golf club...so there.Ryokai said:
OP: I'd probably go for a spetsnaz utility shovel. It can be frightfully effective in combat, but it's also made for survival purposes. Otherwise, perhaps a hammer with a lengthened shaft...
