Realistically I'd probably go with an axe. It works as both a cutting and a bludgeoning weapon, and it's heavy and powerful without being too cumbersome. Plus you could use to chop firewood (it's the apocalypse, you'll need to keep warm)

Unrealistically, probably a lightsaber. You can swing it anywhere, and chances are if you don't kill it you'll cripple it.

Realistically I would trudge on down to Home Depot and grab a staple hammer, one of those things for nailing in trim where you just hit it against the wall and it lodges a staple in it. Decent reach, capable of causing brain damage, wont get stuck in the target, and if you run out of staples it can still be effective.

Semi-realistically I would search a military base for a modern-age ballistic fist, a glove designed to shoot a projectile when applied with pressure. I would think the military could have designed one to hold plenty of ammunition and be plenty powerful, like shotgun shells.

Fantasy wise, the eyelander/chargin' targe from TF2, with every head I take I would become more powerful, and with a good start I could outrun any zombie and survive multiple attacks.

A reaper(perfect dark) with no ammo :p . Who can dislike the idea of a giant frigging MEATGRINDER?

That or possibly an Eviscerator chainsword... those suckers are HUGE...

If you want to be 'realistic' probably a sledgehammer, simple, yet effective, or maybe Claymore... who needs to KILL the zombie, you just need to INCAPACITATE the zombie, swing to behead, you do that well enough.

A fire axe is the first thing that comes to mind, so yeah. I'll go with a fire axe.

I can't remember the name cause the last time I read World War Z was two years ago, but that modified shovel that they start to use to retake the United States.

EDIT: Got the name, it's "the Lobotomizer".

A Military Pickhammer similar to this. It's relatively easy to wield (especially in confined spaces/close quarters), it can stab, bludgeon and pierce skulls, it wouldn't be too fatiguing and it leaves my other hand free for defence (if I don a gauntlet and/or wield a buckler) or for carrying/pushing things.

Also it would be quite useful in breaking or opening things, like padlocks and doorways plus it should be quite easy to maintain since it doesn't have an edge that requires honing.

I would use a light saber since I have the option I mean all I'd have to do is point at the zombie and turn it on no training required, IRL probably a crowbar just for practicality (Fucking locked doors) My cousin said he'd use a mono-filament whip but he noted that he might dismember himself.

A good hand-and-a half longsword, they were long enough to be used like a short spear but had the cutting power of a broadsword.

I'd use a tank that had run out of ammo.

In all seriousness though, I'd probably cart around my katana set. Katana, wakazashi, tanto. Maybe my jo staff...

Decisions decisions.

I'd probably take my katana though because it's light weight and sharp and I actually know how to use it. You don't have to lop off the head of everything attacking you. Go for legs and trip them up so you can FEAR.

Crowbar all the way. I'd be busting the skulls of every zombie from here to Nunavut before you'd have the time to say "Reload, Dr. Freeman!"
