You want rules? Fine. There are only 2.

1- If you do what my first "girlfriend" did, I will murder you and your family. End of story.
2- Have fun =)

1) Do not expect to spend any time with me when I plan to go to Boxing/Muay Thai/Brazilian Jiujitsu, unless you want to come and train with me.

2) You must be interested in some kind of physical hobby (working out, sports, etc.), and in general, taking care of your body. Having a common hobby between us will ensure that we aren't constantly trying to think of conversation material - we can just meet up and do whatever it is we both enjoy.

3) If we are at a club, party, or any sort of dancing/drinking place, try to stay somewhat sober. Having a girl awkwardly stumble around and burying her face in my chest while vomiting is not my idea of dancing.

4) Going out to restaurants should only be a once-in-a-while thing. I much prefer to cook my own food, which is often much healthier.

Betrayed me once, just before what would've been our first date. Then came back two weeks later, begging for a second chance. I said yes. Soon after, she lied to me, saying she hated one of her best friends (who was a mutual friend) just to avoid seeing me. I eventually got her to confess that she had no interest in seeing me in person under any circumstances. Apparently, I just made her feel good via text message/occasional phone call.

TLDR- She didn't have the common decency to inform me that the "relationship" her and I were in would never involve any "seeing movies/going to the park/doing other stuff together in public/anything I was looking for in a relationship" until I told her to leave me the hell alone.

...and she still wonders why her two previous boyfriends (including me) told her to that they would rather jump off a cliff than continue talking to her as friends.

...Be creative...That is the special rule.
Be intresting, and fun, and funny, and actaully enjoy talking to me, miss me when I'm gone, because you sure as hell should know I will for you.

So far...-Sadface- Yep, not going so great.
lol im going to ninja your rules...falcon punch is a good thing to have in your arsenal

as long as the girl speaks her mind and doesn't try to make me constantly guess at what hte fuck is going on up there, then im good, and as long as she respects me gaming and wanting to be with my friends, then thats good

btw, no drugs either, shit smells like shit, and its bad for you and i dont wanna be makin out with garbage

I wonder how many people in this thread are currently single. Or how many have never even had a girlfriend/boyfriend.

I really only do the "friends-with-benefits" thing, but if I had to make rules they are:

1) I don't do monogamy (and I don't expect you to be with only me)

2) Unless it's an emergency, when I'm working on a film, you dp not disturb me

3) Don't try to change me, I'm not going to do it to you. Granted, I might introduce something I like to you (I won't be shocked if you do the same), but never give me an ultimatum or make decisions for me.

4) No Valentines Day

1.) I will be either lying, or brutally honest. That's just who I am.

2.) I will keep every secret you tell me, promise to do the same.

3.) If we fight (we will, it's part of a good relationship), don't let emotion cloud judgement.
I've seen to many relationships fall apart because of this.

4.) Yes, I do need some time with my bros. Just like you need time with your friends.

5.) Look, over half of my friends are females. I'll still talk to them, please don't get jealous. I'm to loyal to cheat (It's true, problematic at times)

6.) You could try playing video games with me for once. It's not that bad.

7.) I will do the following: Read while walking, and talk to my self. Don't be surprised when I hurt my self or ignore you. It's unintentional.

1)No God-bothering, No religious evangelism. I don't care if you're from the newest religion on the block you "pagan" hipster, shut up. You're just as bad the Mormons, Pentecostals, and Baptists. And this goes for the "Intellectually superior than thou must demean religion every chance I get without it being warranted" atheists. I don't mean like Dawkins or Hitchens, I mean morons who just want to piss off people without the religious person starting an argument or bringing their god up.
2)No kids. God so help me, I will tie you to the closet door and get the nearest coat-hanger if you refuse the clinic. Don't worry though, I'll call the cops and turn myself in after the fact because I just care that way.

Well they're unspoken, I mean we don't have a rule book or something dumb like that. We both follow these rules.

Basically...

1)Don't talk about how hot a friend/aquantance is, relationships shouldn't be about constant competition. Also, ok, you can say a celebrity is hot, but don't keep shoving it in my face. I heard you the first time, if you keep going on and on about it, it's a dick move.

2) Porn, porn's ok sometimes. There can be complications when you keep watching it and don't sex up your partner. I'm not saying no to porn, but in a relationship, you shouldn't need it, but if you do, jeeze moderation.

3) Cheating is a absolutely stupid, retarded and just makes you look like a sleeze. You cheat, you go. You can break up with someone, but don't cheat on them.

4) Don't go silent and never talk about a problem. That makes things worse, if you need to blow off steam, do so then tell your partner why you're upset.

5) Everyone needs love and needs to know they're loved. Show your partner you love them every once in a while. A hug, a kiss and a simple "I love you" are good things.

You know, I dunno many other rules. We just kind of understand the dos and don'ts of relationships...

I'm not even sure if Tom and I have rules like that. I don't mind him gaming when we're talking as long as he's talking. =P Although either way, gaming or not, I'm the one who's usually talking more anyway. Lol. Besides if I want him off the ps3, I just have to get his attention with something. :3 Or just ask him to get off for a bit. =]

But we're celebrating Valentine's Day and Our One Year Anniversary! =] Our anniversary is on the 17th. <3
congrats and many more happy years to you
Thanks :3

No I don't think we do have any rules... Although I wish you'd stop questioning me everytime I compliment you -_- There should be a no-combating compliments rule.

I don't follow or set any rules because your just trying to control a person that way. I hate rules and anything goes in my relationship because it's based on mutual respect. Once you get that then your golden.

Relationship Rules are for people who seek control but ultimately have none. If someone said to me "don't call me before a competition" or "don't make fun of my comics" I'd call them up and bug the shit out of them and abuse their stand alone complex collection because I would never have a person dictate terms to me nor would I dictate to them. If you need to set rules that petty then it ain't worth it. I work in T.V and film and my girlfriend hates it and God is it refreshing to be challenged daily on the bullshit I take for granted in that work.

If I had one rule I was forced to pick it would be: "capable of kicking my ass"

Either we both sound extremely sarcastic or girls just can't take a compliment. Or it could be that they simply deny it so we keep pandering to them :p
