Nope, I can't say I've ever bought anything that I couldn't eventually get to work through Steam. Even Space Empires V, which required me to do some scary things in the Windows console, eventually worked.
Yeah, a bug in Myst is keeping me from progressing. Strangely enough I was able to get it up and running without a hitch.hamsterkilla said:Myst and Riven.
Bought them on this huge sale steam had in order to promote the new sale of these old classics.
I didn't realize they weren't updated to at least work with newer computers. Apparently they only work with Quicktime version 1 (or something silly like that)and there's a host of other problems besides the video that keeps me from being able to play it.
Needless to say, I was very sad. At least they were cheap.
*Whistles innocently in the corner, playing Winter Assault* Don't mind me, I got some more Chaos to ... murderise.Palademon said:Nobody I know can get Dawn of War: Winter Assault to run...
I have it in My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\, and that and the various other tweaks to the different .ini files worked as advertised for me. Unfortunately the game is still less fun than Civ4, aside from the combat being better, so I uninstalled it a while ago. If I wanted a TBS where the only fun option was to kill things, I'd go play 90% of the other ones out there. I got a Civ game for all the non-murdering gameplay mechanics that give it some variety. Way to miss the point, guys.thejackyl said:I saw something about that, but I don't have the Usersettings.ini file. And putting the line in config.ini didn't work.
A lot of people have that problem, but there's an easy fix : )Chairman Miaow said:Metro 2033 doesn't work at all. I have tried it on 3 different machines. One is really old and simply doesn't have the system requirements, another doesn't have graphics card support, and the other.... well I have no idea why it doesn't work on that, it is perfectly capable.
Go into your Steam games folder, find oblivion, open it and delete EVERYTHING inside of it and this will fix your problem, just make sure you verify its files. This will re-install it freshly.SacremPyrobolum said:Do you have games you bought on Steam that never worked or do not work anymore for unexplained reason?
I have the Sims 3 with the infamous initialization error at start-up despite being able to play it on the same computer a month ago.
Rage which Steam just refuses the
Oblivion, which is partially my fault due to the many mods I threw on it, yet even after deleting the oblivion directory and re installing fresh it doesn't want to work.
Mainly all of those take up a lot of memory and require tons of hardware power. I reccomend using this site here, it will check your video card files automatically and tells you if you can run X game or not.Solo-Wing said:Oh jeez. Since I got a weak computer there is a LOT. Majority WORK but the Framerate is always so fucking LOW. I am talking like 10... Maybe 20 if I am lucky.
