We all go through changes during our lives. Tell us about how your exterior person and style has changed during your life (major changes, you don't have to go into enormous detail if you're a diverse person).

I'll start. I have gone through a few changes throughout my short life. I had bowl haircut up until I was around 12 (yes, I know it's the world's most atrocious haircut, but I didn't do that by my own choice). After that I started listening to death metal, started wearing band t-shirts (In Flames, Children of Bodom, and John 5 shirts) and grew my hair real long. Was told that I looked a bit like Kurt Cobain. Then I got a trilby and leather jacket, started to look like the singer from Hellacopters. Then when I reached the age I am now, I took my long, thick hair, and made them into dreads (yes, I know that white guy with dreads is generally not very good looking, but I think it fits me and my metal head style), started wearing torn up jeans, and I got a pair of platform boots (no, not disco platform boots, more like Manson boots).

Your turn. Share with The Escapist.

I`ve always tried to keep short hair. I always wear jeans. I usually wear running shoes, but today I bought a ticket for the bandwagon (i.e. I bought Converses). I usually wear rugby shirts, but am starting to move into dress shirts. I haven`t a clue as to why.

Overall, not too many changes.

EDIT: Is your username a reference to the bowlcut?

I went through the age of styleless until about 11. Then I became a chav until the age of 12.

I was then emo for a couple years until about 14. Then I went a bit trendy until about 15 and a half. Now I'm 16 and a half and I have no idea what I am. But I know I kind of like who I am, at times.

Now I keep my hair kind of long-short. And where dark jeans a lot, sort of tight ones but not rediculously so. I'm gonna stop here actually because I have no idea how to describe my style, although I do like it, musically and fashion wise.

Edit: I disagree and think dreads on white guys can be a very good look, for example.

Did the typical "wear whatever the fuck your parents get you" until I was like...9. Then I started wearing tracksuit bottoms and t shirts because they were comfy, not because I was a chav/yob/punk that everyone portrayed me to be. After that I discovered the miracles of jeans (this was at like...14) and I've been steadily and gently alternating between various styles since. At the moment it's a smart casual style where I wear v neck jumpers a lot with jeans, but it can easily go to wearing hoodies.

However, whenever I can I always put on a pair of boardies during the summer. Best. Shorts. Ever.

Also, my hair is the typical "windswept surfer esque" hair that seems to be floating around. It's nice and easy to control :p

I suppose, if these terms are relevant, that my style is probably "smart-casual-semi indie."

Well...first I started out as a kid who didn't about his style.

Then I wore nothing but sweatpants for two years.

Then nothing but basketball shorts for a year.

Then a mix of jeans and shorts all up until now.

I pair all of those with a T-Shirt and a sweatshirt.

It used to be a reference to when I had long, Kurt-esque hair. My name was from the beginning BadHaircut on other sites, but I decided to have some variation. The reason is that I am terrible at keeping my hair in order and clean, so it looked pretty horrible. Now I'm pretty satisfied with my hair, as it doesn't require much taking care of, except for some easy fixing now and then, and I can still call it crazy in a radical sense, since I almost never see anyone with dreads (maybe a few if I go out in the city and look around).

I wore my hair long for the longest time (just caught the pun, did not intend it), then just a few years ago I saw a picture of a slighly younger me with all that hair, and shuttered. Now I usually get a buzz cut, or keep it as a much shorter version of my old style.

When I hit highschool I also began wearing hooded jackets, now my style is almost always a hooded jacket, T-shirt, jeans, and sneakers. Damn, I'm cool.

Hmm, well I went through a bit of an emo stage a year or two ago. I've mostly gotten over it, but I've still kept the long hair and love for deathcore music. Before that, I only ever wore tracksuits so I think even that was an improvement.

Now I like to think my style is kinda.......normal, I guess. I usually wear jeans and a t-shirt with an open shirt over it. I plan on keeping my long hair though (it's not really long, it kind of hugs my face, if you get what I mean). I think it looks better than a shaved head.

I used to dress a bit "Ghetto" when I was younger, then I went through a skateboard phase (for a girl mostly), then I kind of just ended up as I am today.(Banana Republic, Guess, DKNY, ect)

Up until 5, was like a normal kid, then I started to grow my hair out and did that till I was 12.

I had hair to my back from 6-12 and I wore band T-shirts all the time (Pixies, Beatles, Nirvana, and Led Zeppelin) and jeans so I looked sort of punkish and people told me I looked like a little Kurt Cobain, then I started dressing with a better sense of style. I started wearing nicer clothing and cut my hair shorter.

I now wear casual coats, hoodies, custom Tshirts, slim fitting jeans, and my hair started getting extremely curly and darker. I used to have straight blonde hair, now I have curly black hair. People now tell me I look like Jack White from the White Stripes.

Used to wear fairly cheap, but presentable clothes, with short back and sides (hair) until the age of about 15, then I got into metal and - like every other 15 yr old boy ever - grew my hair long, wore band T-shirts etc.

But then I realised that was not a good look for me, and simultaneously my music taste started to widen. So around 17 I cut all my hair off, and now I usually wear button up shirts (casual ones, not office shirts, check, stripes etc.) with decent jeans, decent trainers etc. when I'm out and about.

At home I just wear whatever is lying around :D

I'm fairly nondescript, but I feel that I am well dressed, and now that my hair is properly short, I feel presentable and fairly "fashionable" much as I despise that word.

Ages 0-10: Parents ruled
Ages 11-13: Mostly tracksuit bottoms and a sweatshirt of some kind. Jeans on special occasions
Age 14: Mostly jeans and tshirts. Started to go through a wardrobe revamp, started wearing colour co-ordinated clothes. I never used to bother about that.
Age 14 and ten twelfths: Got into hats. Started wearing them with everything. Got loads of different styles of hat.
Age 15 (aka Now): Pretty much all jeans. Tracksuits are now exclusively for excercise. As I said in a similar thread yesterday, I now wear open shirts over t-shirts, and if it's particularly cold, I'll button it up a bit.

I think dreads on white guys can be awesome too, but many seem to disagree with me. I think that the singer in In Flames is good looking with his dreads.

Know how you feel. I love long hair, it feels great. Plus, I fear how I might look with short hair. Although my hair is a bit longer than hugs to the face. It used to be down to my back, then when I made dreads out of it, it became shoulder-length. Although it will probably grow down again soon.

My styles... I sort of just wore what I was bought, then I started dressing myself. Once I began dressing myself it became a style once referred to as "Wild man" due to the fact that it was wild and nonsensical. Before hearing this "Wild man" reference it was called "Skittles" due to the fact that I everything I wore was a different color then the rest. I also used to wear Tracksuit Bottoms a lot, didn't know what they were, just thought they were comfy, still wear my last pair every now and again.

Now I tend to wear something that can be deemed acceptable (I.E. No Star Trek shirt to church, no Green jacket [it finally ripped after years, my favorite jacket]) but otherwise I tend to dress in whatever seems comfortable, such as the Baggy Trek shirt mentioned before. Trying to get some comfy black clothes.

Yeah, it looks and feels better, but it's a pain in the ass to keep neat.

That's part of the reason I got dreads, easy to handle after a while. All you have to do is make sure the ends don't split, and the roots don't untie themselves. Plus, I look awesome in it.

I was kind of the same here. I was once a fat kid with a bowl cut. At the same time Episode 1 was on theaters, I started wearing my hair like Anakin.
Then, off to my teenage years. I tried to imitate the look of Billie Joe Armstrong.
Right now I'm 17 and have a post-grunge, alternative-esque, kinda indie look and lifestyle, and I'm happy with it.
And while we're on nostalgia road, I had a girlfriend once.
You're so lucky. I'm 15 (and a half) and have never had a girlfriend.

Well if it works for you, there's not much more you could ask for.

I don't think they'd suit me, though. :D
