I'm pretty neutral towards the console crowd, even if I slightly dislike the 360 and I slightly like the PS3, even if I don't own it (yet).
My primary system of choice would be the PC, why?, because I don't have the money to buy a console. I'm trying to not write something biased and please don't consider it as some sort of flaming.
I'm not going to say that I like the PC just because it has better graphics [sub](hint: it does)[/sub], I like the PC, because, while it's easier to get pirated, ironically, it's way cheaper to get quality games for it. I know that many fellow escapists are against Steam and I'm not trying to convince them to use it, to each their own, but not only Steam, other digital distributors are selling an amazing quantity of games with lower and lower prices.
Take GOG for instance, I got Neverwinter Nights: Diamond Edition [http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/neverwinter_nights_diamond_edition], a game that, even if it's a bit old by now, everywhere else would normally cost more than $20 [http://www.amazon.com/Neverwinter-Nights-Diamond-Pc/dp/B000B8K7RC], but I bought the game at a sale and I got it for $6, DRM free and now it's completely mine, I burned it into a DVD and it feels like the disc itself came from a limited edition package, with lots of extra stuff, worthy of a limited or special edition. Even if the disc is printed with my crude handwriting and not a proper fancy artwork, or even if the disc doesn't have a proper box at all, it's one of those moments when I simply love PC gaming in general.
I don't have to say that the game looks (kinda) gorgeous in HD with all of your fancy filters and antialiases turned on.
I know that sometimes it's a lot of a hassle to get something to work, be it if it's too old for newer systems (System Shock 2), it's badly coded (New Vegas) or it would melt your PC (Crysis). For me, at the end of the day, making that game to work is part of the fun, yes, sometimes it can drive you to punch a baby seal [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/issues/issue_265/7935-Punching-the-Baby-Seal-of-PC-Gaming], but at the end of the day, making it to finally work, makes you feel like you really achieved something.
In fact, it would be awesome to have an achievement system dedicated to make an older game (System Shock 2 and Thief 1/2) to work propperly, even more if you want to run it in widescreen resolutions.
Oh and I forgot one of the main reasons I got into PC gaming in the first place. Mods. That's all.
