I love beating pokemon in an hour and a half with their speed cranked all the way up.
I know what you mean, I can't even stand playing Pokemon without an emulator anymore 'cause everything just takes so unnecessarily long when you can't speed up all the endless battling and walking.

I've tried loads of emulators for older consoles. How else am I gonna get my hands on the classics? I don't know if Dosbox counts as an emulator, but I've had some good times with that too.

PCSX2 is great if you have a PC that can handle it and don't mind a low frame rate in games that hit the VU1 hard. Shadow of the Colossus is almost playable (at 720p, resolution doesn't make a huge difference) on my PC; the frame rate drops below 45fps too often >_< and low framerate makes the audio choppy too, which is bad, because the music in SotC is awesome. FFX works fine (most of the time), though, as does Persona 3 and 4 (async audio doesn't break these, like it does SotC)

I like playing my Pokemon Yellow on TGB-Duel as it supports trading on the same computer.

Also you get a speed button to speed up levelling

Somebody call me?

Seriously though, provided the games are out of print, I see no damage being done.

I have collected and preserved every gaming system I have ever had, as well as games, so....I have no use for em.

But if this was about emus, i would say they are very f**king annoying creatures, seeing as every one i have ever seen is either trying to chase some fat bastard or attempting a headbutt. Some of the angriest giant birds i have ever seen.

Yet more disappointment at it not being the bird.

Meh, I don't use them. I have enough old consoles to not need any just to play old games.

zsnes and Neogeo Ragex are by far my favorite emulators. Bust them out during boring lectures on campus.

As far as underrated or forgotten games go...Super Castlevania IV, the Metal Slug series, the Last Blade games, Sengoku 3, and Blazing Star are all fun to pick up now and then.

I use Emulators to play games on old consoles I owned because either
A) that console died so I cant use it physically.
B) I lost the game or broke the CD/Cartridges.

I really want a ps1 emulator so I can play a good Spyro while I am at university

If anyone has a ps1 emulator they want to tell me about feel free to
epsxe is pretty stable when you get decent bios. I used to use it to play Chrono Cross (legal copy before any mods start with me, and I owned a PS1 at the time, it was PAL though >.<) and it ran rather well.

To be honest though I've found the best PS1 emulator is the PSP. Custom firmware works rather well, and saves having to buy a 2nd copy on the PS store.
I don't have the money to, plus I'd rather keep it on my laptop. I am going to try and find and emulator that runs both Final Fantasy 9 and all 3 spyros, this is my quest so I can nostalgia like fuck

Thank you for the name, I shall start my quest with this lead and battle on the for the holy ps1 emulator

I usually use DosBox to play my old DOS games and WinUAE to play old Amiga 500 games although it has been quite some time since I did that.

I saw the title of the thread and though of Emu's, and that they taste like chicken....

Emulators are cool though, my old roommate use to use them for everything NES-PS2.

Well considering i have a whole box of old Sega and Nintendo games in storage and don't feel like digging through all of them to play them, so i find Emulators a blessing.
