Your thoughts on Quentin tarantino films!

As much as many of 'normal' viewers may dislike his films, he created his own style that not only got noticed by the critics all over the world but also became one of milestones of modern cinematography.
His movies are often quite surreal, filled with overdone violence and silly dialogue but in the end they are complete in what they try to achieve. There is a clearly drawn line that they follow and aren't as random as they might seem at first.

I like him, for what he has done to film industry, i think only Inglorious Bastards kinda faell behind on a classic Tarantino feel. The movie was lacking compared to his other works and personally i found it bit bland.

I didn't like Kill Bill and I have yet to see Deathproof, personanly I think his writing quality has gone down, way down in the case of Kill Bill part 2 which was just a hopeless mess. Res Dogs and Pulp had well written, original, believable, witty and interesting characters with seperate traits and personalities.
In Kill Bill almost every character's dialouge was interchangable and forgetable, but at least the first one has a brilliantly choreographed fight scene. A saving grace not present in part 2.

I Can agree with this he always seemed to be very innovative to me but that seems to have changed in recent years, maybe im contradicting myself but i do agree with that and i loved pulp fiction!

He's a great director. Not the greatest, but pretty damn good. I thought Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs and Inglourious Basterds were all great. I've not seen Kill Bill though.

I liked Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs and Inglorious Bastards.

I thought Jakie Brown and the Kill Bill films were decent, but not to great.

I love his episodic and brutal style of story telling. His only problems are when he either over does it (Kill Bill's brutality, Jackie Brown's story) or under does it (Kill Bill's story)

I think Pulp Fiction is one of the best films of all time. He is fucking amazing.

This is pritty much why I like him. I loved Pulp Fiction so in my books he is good!

I enjoyed Pulp Fiction. I havn't seen Kill Bill the whole way through, and havn't seen Resevoir Dogs, Jackie Brown or Death Proof. However I was hugely underwhelmed by Inglorious Basterds, mostly because it advertised itself as a comidic action film, not unlike James Bond in it's persona. What I got was a mountain of dialogue which I found completely uninteresting, and a few scenes of action littered throughout, as if by accident he made a film based on the exposition character. And then they threw in a random 'shoot-nazi-in-face' scene which, because i thought was just clutching at straws for drawing back some of the people who, like myself, expected action to some degree. I can sumarise the film into 5 main parts;
1) The bear jew
2) Churchill
3) Guy getting shot in the balls
4) Bon-jer-no
5) Hitler getting his face turned into a sieve

Ok, I'll admit, it wasn't a bad film. It just wasn't what it sold itself as. I don't go to an action film for dialogue for the same reason I don't read a book for the writer's note. They're not exactly what you look for, but you expect them to be there to a lesser extent.

Edit: To be honest I only think the bear jew is an important part because it gives an insight into the vivid detail which this film decides to go into, rather than what usually happens of cutting to the next scene right before the strike.

I've watched Deathproof and it was okay but there wasn't really any point to it...

I've watched Kill Bill Volume 1 and enjoyed it but I have yet to see Volume 2.

With Deathproof...that was kinda the point..

I tend to like his films, in-fact i've liked them all except Inglorious Basterds

As of right now...He's out of control. With constraints and boundries he can (and has) made some good movies. But with the Weinsteins unable to call bull shit on his bull shit he's an ego spiralling wildly out of control and disappearing up his own ass...who's best movies are behind him already imo.

Inglorious Bastards - could easily stand to lose 40 mins off it's running time. Saved by some decent set pieces and performances, but it's one flabby assed movie.

Death Proof- One of the worst most ingulgent movies ever made. An exploitation flick with 2 set pieces sandwiched between 2 eyeball scratchingly bad hours of inane awful 'female' dialogue and close ups of hot chick's feet...a disaster.

Sin City - Brilliant. Had nothing to do with him at all wish he'd take his goddamn name off it. 'Presents' my ass QT.

Kill Bill 1 & 2 - Might have made for one decent 2 hour movie. But QT's ego and the producers willingless to indulge it resulted in a flabby over long awkwardly interconnected pair of utter duds imo.

Jackie Browne - Brilliant. QT does wonders with the dialogue of a writer better at it than him (he should try this kinda thing more often).

Pulp Fiction - Brilliant. But struggles these days to live up to the hype some new audiences go in expecting of it.

Resevoir Dogs - A HK heist flick with a western cast and twist. Fun stuff, albeit riped off wholesale from another movie lese known movie.

Special mentions...

imo True Romance is the best movie QT had anything to do with. Would rather see him direct some stories written by others and write some stories for others to direct. His whole Quentin demi-god act is getting pretty self indulgent and lame these days...

From Dusk Till Dawn stands as a testament that QT can (when he checks his ego in at the door or has someone (Robert) to call Bull shit on his excesses) deliever a proper balls out fun flicks...exactly what Kill Bill, Inglorious and more blatantly Death Proof SHOULD have been.

I like all his movies, especially Kill Bill 1 and 2. He is very original and brings the best out of the actors he works with. I commend him for doing original movies and basing them off books and stuff. His biggest problem though, is that his love for dialog sometimes results in too many scenes of conversation that have nothing to do with the plot, and it only hinders and slows down the plot immensely. Examples: Bar scene in Inglorious Basterds, Death Proof where the three girls just talk for what felt like half an hour, and others. It wasnt bad in Pulp Fiction or Reservoir Dogs because those were all about the conversations. So, he is one of my favorite directors, but his dialog gets in the way of plot too much.

I enjoy some of his movies....others not so much. I liked Pulp Fiction and Inglorious Basterds...did not care for Kill Bill at all, but that could just be my dislike of Uma Thurman as anything other than "that hot girl who isn't really important to the plot". Haven't actually seen any of his others, or if I did I just can't remember them.

I like to watch the "films" he makes because i derive a lot of fun from it, but his more "fun" "movies" i find kidna tedious.
Reservoir Dogs-Awesome.
Pulp Fiction-Pretty damn good.
Kill Bill-i could just watch all the older movies instead.
Inglorious Bastards-....Really?
