The high school I went to had a Confederate officer as its mascot and once had a mural of slave working on a plantation painted on all four walls of the cafeteria. So...yeah. I've met my share of my racists. Some even in my own family. It's annoying. Speaking of which, I also once friends with some people who used to tell racist jokes "ironically" (and I did, too, but of course for the irony/satire reasoning) then they just dropped the pretense and just made racist comments at every given opportunity which made me feel uncomfortable. That's when I stopped making any sort of racist joke regardless of ironic subtext. So yeah. Fun times.

When I was at public school, like 2nd or 3rd grade, there were a group of black kids that always were beating up white kids, because there parents told them that white people all hated them. I never got beat up, but that was why my parents took me out of the public school and put me into a private one. I went back into public school for high school, but never really encountered racism that extreme since then.

While I was on holiday in Canada I saw a tough-looking white guy swearing at a group of black youths hanging around across the street, with him shouting things including called them "fucking niggers", although I don't know if he was actually racist of just had some sort of grudge against those particular black guys.

I know a Jew who thinks Jews and Israelites are and should be the best humans in the world. He would continue to proclaim that continuously and would often make jokes about my nationality. Even the other Jews are sick of him and want nothing more than to bash his head on a steel I-beam and throw him into the 20+ft pool with weights tied to him.

I went to high school with some people who were racist.

Very tight knit communities of white farmers in Norfolk, well known in Britain for its mild xenophobia at the best of times, so I knew quite a lot of racists for nearly eight years.

Eventually you just stop paying attention. You can't be outraged all the time because otherwise you'd never do anything else, and eventually things did get at least a little less overt.

I live in a particularly racist neighbourhood of a particularly racist city (by Canada's standards). The whites hate the blacks, the blacks hate the whites, no one likes the Middle Easterns... I try to be as friendly and neighbourly to the best of my ability but often all I get back are glares and whispers in other languages. A couple of my friends in the area are pretty racist themselves.

I try to forget about specific examples, but I hear lines like "fucki*g Arabs taking all our jobs" or "This town used to be good before they came here" all the time.

Yes i know people that are truly racist, but for the most part i just try to ignore it, but if it gets out of hand, i usually smack em, cant stand racism, its like calling something gay to say its stupid, its wrong and shouldnt exist in the world.....Racism i mean, same with using the word gay as an insult.

I went to a school that was half asian and honestly, in countries like Australia, the white people are the least racist, or they hide it better. I can't go down a street without getting called a cracker as yet just saying the word black will get you publicly executed. I don't care for racism and I don't think any race is inferior but if white people are stopping that doesn't mean that the other cultures should start.

My friend isn't completely racist but he's not exactly an equal opportunity guy. Whenever he start getting racist I always feel uncomfortable so I just usually change the subject.

I guess you could say my grandmother, she hates asians or at least koreans, I think it's because in World War 2, her brother was shot down over the Korean sea...or at least over Korea, I don't remember.

I make racist jokes all the time, but I tell racist jokes about all races, including my own, so I think that makes it OK. XD

I'm an equal opportunity hater.

In all seriousness though, I have met a racist person. Got into a fist fight with him too. I didn't have any problem with him, he just called me over like he wanted to talk and started throwing punches. Said stuff like, "How do you like that, whitey?"

I beat him down. Not because he was black, but because he swung first. I tried to give him a chance. I let the first hit slide most of the time, and since he obviously had a problem with me, I figured that first swing might get it out of his system.

I was wrong.

So I cracked some of his ribs.

I don't think I've ever met a serious racist but I've met a few homophobes. It pisses me off because a few of my friends are gay. I was out on halloween 2 years ago when a guy asked me if I was gay (due to my pvc costume) and then was making homophobic comments. Rather than hit him I just loudly ranted at him for 5 minutes until he walked away, embarrassed

He left me alone. His buddies had to help him stagger off. Once he hit the grownd, I stopped swinging. No use in pummeling the guy if he can't fight anymore. I never saw him or his buddies after that. I'm kind of surprised that they didn't jump in when they saw him losing.

I know a girl who once said, pretty much out of nowhere: "Well, I'm no racist but... I don't want to have a child with a black man! I don't want my baby to be a half n***er". No kidding, she actually said this. I didn't say anything then and there because I was just so gob-smacked at the sheer stupidity of it all. If you are going to say some so blatantly racist, at least don't bother with the whole "not a racist" bullshit.

We also recently got a racist party into our parliament, whoopie. They claim not to be racist, but their political agenda is basically that all muslims are evil and that we should more or less strangle immigration into this country. I don't think I have ever been so ashamed to call this place my home.

A friend of a good friend of mine is a Nazi sympathizer. She presented her views in a clear, eloquent way, while keeping the Jew and minority bashing to a minimum. I honestly wouldn't have known if she didn't outright say "...and I hate Jews, but I don't let that cloud my judgment."
Kind of an oxymoron, but whatever.
You know I always find it ironic that whenever I see someone who is a nazi sympathizer I just think to myself, "Hitler would've had you killed." At any rate, yes I have. They're very annoying. I stop paying attention to them mere seconds after they open their mouths.

Yes he went on about how "the Polish took/taking our jobs". I ignored that person.
Interesting on several grounds. Firstly, in that discrimination against one group of white European people by another is maybe not so much racist as xenophobic.

Secondly in that the last display of full-blown racism I saw in person was a couple of months ago on the train, where a visibly drunk Polish guy smeared mud on his face during a racist rant at another passenger, who he believed to be Pakistani, but who happened to be Turkish.

That was a "wow, THAT'S racist" moment. All the dodgy jokes in the world don't add up to actually blacking (browning?) your face up in a tirade against a racial group to someone you think is of that racial group.

Also in the uncomfortably true sense that to an extent, an enormous influx of Polish and other East European labourers in the UK did deliberately undercut competitors in their sectors, particularly in both skilled and unskilled manual labour, which has exacerbated the effects of the recent recession. No-one minded so much when there was almost full employment but now that there are less jobs to go round, people are angry and want someone to blame, preferably some shifty foreigners who talk funny and eat strange foods, rather than the people who created complex financial instruments which were vulnerable to collapse.

Of course, that's a little bit more of a mouthful than "They took our jobs! Durka dur!"

I live with one. He says ALOT of stupid shit. While his racism is mainly targeted at blacks, the only race he refers to without using a racial slur is Caucasians.

He and all his friends love racist jokes. I get at least one a day forwarded to me. And they all have "God bless you and God bless America!" or "Jesus loves you!" at the end, because they're great Christians. /sarcasm

We had this conversation awhile back. It's great for laughs, if you don't think about it too deeply.
Pop: Man, I knew it from the day Obama was elected...He's never leaving the White House. He's a tyrant!
Me: The day he got elected? How did you know this?
Pop: He's a Fuckin' n*****! They don't do shit but live off others, and a government job is the height of that! (For the record, this man lives off Social Security, Disability and me/my roommate.)
Me: You knew his political career based of how much melanin he has?
Pop: What's melanin?
Roommate: His skin tone, Pop.
Pop: He's a Fuckin' n*****!

In my experience alot of people think Australians are racist towards the Aboriginal community.
What they fail to understand though it is more a case of calling a spade a spade.
It remainsa common fact that they are the cause of a vast % of crimes commited, and in spite of all the money the government gives them, and all the education oppertunities they are given they still bury them selves in booze and abuse.
I cant walk for 15minutes through any major population center without one begging for money for some reason or another. Usually to make a phone call or catch the bus.
I used to work in the security industry and nearly every other day we arrested some one for stealing, four out of five times they were aboriginal. Nearly every person we turned away on refusal of service that was of Aboriginal decent was also highly abusive, if not actually physically violent towards us. However in effort to not appear racist myself, there were also alot of hill billy types that we also turned away who were also highly abusive.

I have never come across a race of people that swear half as much though, especially towards each other. Most of it isnt the "light" stuff either.

Being called a "F---ing White C---T" for doing my job is harsh to say the least.
Oh and being threatened that "im gonna get my uncle to come smash you, he just got outta jail" was always one of my "favourite" threats. They say "out of jail" like its a badge of honour.
I remember at one site we were having alot of trouble with a bunch of kids, so we pulled them aside and told them they were likely to end up in "juvie" if they kept going, their reaction was like we had offered to send them to a holiday camp
Yet as soon as we call them Black, all the alarms, bells and whistles start going off... go figure.

Just remember all of what i have said is in my experience and an expression of experiences. Not a vilifacation of any racial slur.
