The person I am here is more...well, literate, shall we say? Many of my actual friends speak in "lol-speak" (I hate LOL...only one I hate), and that is how I speak on AIM. Other than that, there are no differences.

Pretty much exactly the same as in real life, though probably a bit more nerdy on here as, well... it's a gaming forum.
I'm probably less snarky on the escapist. Mostly because I have to rely on my writing/typing to get my point across. While in real life, I can use spoken word to debate or lash back even. Plus my irl friends know me better so I can get away with stuff like that more often. Other than my lack of confidence, there isn't much of a difference between the internet me and the real me.

I don't want to feel fake as I'm posting on the internet. I know some people put on dramatic and loud personae, but I'm more relaxed and thoughtful in my writing. Also, the kind of person you are when you type something planned out isn't the same when you converse with someone.
A depressed failure who doesn't care about anything but himself and the things he does, who refuses to grow up and live life as a normal, functioning part of society, who's emotions and thoughts are so inconsistent he has trouble keeping track of anything that's ever happened.
I'm pretty much the same on the internet. I don't go out of my way to act like an asshole, I don't look for touble, I'm still a rather negitive person, but I still show concern/caring for others in my own way. I think the only thing that really changes about me while online is that I will speak my mind as if I was with close friends, probably because of internet anonymity.
I am, in the fleshworld, a pretty private ************.
I have close friends, who I love so deeply it's stupid, but I don't tend to talk to them about personal stuff. It's just not how I am, and they know it. Whereas I'm a lot more comfortable sharing deeper stuff with strangers - relationship and sexual topics, that kind of thing, although not necessarily on the Escapist - than I am with people I actually know.
I don't like them seeing my weaknesses, because they're the ones who'd remember it later. I dunno, maybe I feel like they'll use it against me or something. No risk of that on the interwebs.

I am certainly far more verbose/less dismissive and open to conversation when using the internet compared to when I can actually see the people to which I'm talking, so no, I am not the same person when using the internet compared to when I can actually see the person to which I'm talking. Hooray for inconsistency and falsehoods.
I suppose I treat the internet the same as I treat life - I manage quite carefully what information people get about me, and rarely share spontaneously.

I'm pretty much the same on here as I am in real life I try to be friendly and nice to everyone. I don't really start to be mean to someone unless they attack someone or myself.
I don't really discuss my true self on the Escapist. I only let a select few see the true me.

The true me is someone who likes to help, but can also be kinda rude. But under it all, I'm a good guy, and like to keep the peace.
I don't have much of an idea who the true me is. But online and offline, I'm pretty much the same. Unlike most people (at least from what I've gathered, having read threads like these before) I'm actually more reserved on the internet. I guess I'm just more conscious of the fact that anyone could be reading, whereas in real life I know more or less who's listening.
All the same, I'm very open, and seriously, you only need to ask and a whole torrent of unwanted emotional baggage will undoubtedly come spilling out. Happens both online and offline. It's kind of funny actually. I guess people might say that I'm different online only because they perceive me differently when I'm not in front of them, in person.
