I just watched Dr Strangelove, so I guess I can assume that the world certainly has a scarce american and russian population.
Thats beside the point, I just thought it was odd to see the thread the minute I finish that film.
By trade I'm a software developer. I guess I cannot assume we still have workable computers. I can, however, mix a mean cocktail and play a couple of instruments, so I guess I'd be involved in entertainment, keeping survivors spirits up! :D

I can make a mean Chilli Con Carne and I'm a catalogue model. I will be the sexy chef!

Also, I work in a hardware store so I know which end of the hammer is the hitting side. I will make shelves to put your things on.

I can fish. I was raised in the country, so I learned survival skills at a young age. Tracking, growing, fishing, finding food, identifying plants, and most importantly, building fire for your rockets.
In a nuclear war almost all those skills are gonna count for shit.
That doesn't make any sense. Those are basic survivalist skills. OF course they're going to help. They won't help you if you're right in the blast radius of a bomb, but then nothing is going to help you. When we are no longer able to simply go to the store to buy food from the supermarket, we're going to have to scavenge our own food from the local environment. Being able to track animals, plant and care for plants, fish, and identify wild plants are immensely helpful.
He means there will be no plants, animals and etc. Nevertheless, useful! It'd be even harder when they are scarce.

I can be fairly hardworking when I want to be. So I'd just follow the leader and do whatever I need to do to help out. I'm a pretty fast learner too, and I don't suck at anything too badly, so I guess I could do anything if I put my mind to it. I don't have any particular skills, unless 'able to bear children' is an important post-apocalyptic skill. I sincerely hope it isn't.

Oh, and I can keep people on track. It mostly involves jumping up and down and waving my arms to get people's attention so I can yell at them for shirking their duties.

I'm a survivalist. I can track, identify defensible positions, fortify said positions, identify plants, fire most firearms pretty well and cook reasonably. I'm also 6'5" and to quote co-workers "built like a brick sh%thouse".

i can't fire a bow though, and can be not the easiest guy to get along with so i'll most likely be the quiet badass that the group has as backup when TSHTF

or i'll just go solo and badass it up on my own.

Although I'm fat now my body type would be perfect for this type of situation. Not only would I still be big due to how my body is but I'm also freakishly strong and can handle myself in a close quarters fight. I'm also skilled in blacksmithing and forging and I'm handy with a hammer as far as wood working goes.

I also can kill people if I have to but I would rather refrain from actually killing them. If I have to though it will be up close with them looking me in the eye.

My only down sides are I will be out of shape at first but will get in shape very quickly, I have bad eye sight, and I have a strong sense of honor (so no rapin' my womens else you're getting a 12lb blacksmithing hammer upside the head).

Also Mt. St. Helens? Really? I know plenty of people who live through that *yawn*

Lets see, I can strip and clean and oil all of my stepdad's guns as well as an M4, SR25 and an F88 AUSTYER, I know how to make a fire, fish with a bow and arrow/spear, set up a shelter, fire and calibrate firearms and firearm sights, I'm pretty healthy and I have good stamina too.

Yup, seven years in Army Cadets does things to ya. ;P

Congratulations! The apocalypse has happened. We're unsure of the means, but from what we can tell, it looks like a mixture of Asia going to nuclear war, Mt St Helens erupting, the polar ice caps suddenly spreading to cover a quarter of the world, wrath of the Greek and Norse gods at the same time, and AIDS. Gee, what are the chances?

Anyhow, you're part of the lucky 10% or so who've survived the disaster. Unfortunately, supplies are scarce, and you're going to have to prove just how useful you are to the post-apocalypse community. What skills/possessions do you have to help humanity get along?

Myself, I'm a woodworker for fun. Granted, I mostly build benches and clocks, but the same theories/buzzy cutty implements can be applied for building houses and useful things. I'm also a sailor, if anyone with fishing skills wants to join me on my boat to go catching two-headed fish, mermaids, or whatever this apocalypse has given us. Plus, I've dabbled in making clothes, but once again, maybe not in keeping with the whole theme - latex/leather fetish clothing, etc.

Possession-wise, I have a big box of rockets upstairs. You never know when you need rockets, whether it's signalling people, or teasing the mutant dogs (I think that's what they were?) roaming the neighbourhood.
Honestly? I see myself manipulating the hell out of people, I'm not much good at anything other than talk/reasoning, so... Meh.

Oh, and manual labour... And possibly repopulating the earth.

I can write pretty damn well, and I can climb pretty damn well.

Unless some of the other 10% that survived were tree-top rainforest creatures with lots of resources, willing to trade for a well-crafted letter of complaint, I'm pretty darn useless.

Can do music to cheer people up.

Also, would immediately look for ways to get electricity going and salvage any tech possible. An IT student doing master's, after all.

Some of it would be fried because of EMP, but, anyway.

Isn't usefulness in the face of apocalypse the very definition of a Pyrrhic victory?
