Paying for online multi in general is bullshit. I'm still not sure why console gamers were willing to put up with it. Anyway, If you just get access to the N64 and Sega games with the additional cost then its whatever, but if you have to pay extra for the ability to give them money to "buy" the games then that is some super bullshit.
This is still a big sticking point for me. I've talked a lot about this on these forums, but literally every single time I think about it again, I get pissed. I don't fucking care that you get a couple of free games each month (which, for some bizarre reason, are not automatically added to your library if you have an active subscription), you are forcing me to pay extra to just play the fucking game I already bought.

I know they're not particularly expensive in the long run, but Jesus Christ, its essentially companies taking your wallet right out of your pocket, keeping your money, and spitting in your face when they're done. That gamers just rolled over and accepted this shit makes me wonder what other ridiculous bullshit is going to be normalized next.

I also have a lot of them on emulator but I want to play a lot of them on Switch instead of my PC and since they are available to play legally, I should do that. And also so I can play the SNES/NES games with my kid(which is so much easier with a switch then my PC). KInda like how I played Chrono Trigger on Emulator so many times, and then bought it on Steam when it was available(but I still have the emulated game as backup).

Of course, I'll always have the emulated games even when Switch Online goes away....

Seriously people, put Mother 3 on steam. It's already translated and works on PC because the fans did all that work. It's basically free money, so I don't know why it hasn't happened yet. I would pay for it once that happens, but since nobody wants to make it "Legally" available outside of Japan then I guess I have to play it emulated.....

The Journalist/Narrator in Ace Combat Zero is kind of an idiot.

Warning...SPOILERS

So he spends the entire game trying to find out about Cypher, the DEMON LORD OF THE ROUND TABLE AKA the Player character and to this end, interviews a bunch of other pilots who fought in the same war with him(Often on opposing sides). Foremost among those is Larry "Solo Wing Pixy" Foulke, who was Cyphers Wingman and "Buddy" and ends up being the final boss of the game. At the end, the Journalist ends up learning absolutely nothing about Cypher because Cypher is a nameless, faceless Mute who happens to be really fucking badass in an plane and meant to the player Avatar(but might as well be a Camera flying a plane for all it matters). Cypher just appeared from nowhere, became super famous and won the Belkin War almost single handedly and then just vanished into thin air never to be heard from or mentioned again(Unless you maybe count one easter egg in Ace Combat 6). At the end, the Journalist says maybe Cypher never really existed.

In the meantime, said Journalist gets to interview Pixy, who is a far more interesting character then Cypher is(and not only because he actually IS a character). He's a Belkan Mercenary who ends up fighting against his own nation in the Belkan War, is every bit as good and badass a Pilot as Cypher(apparently the Solo Wing Nickname comes from him having once landed an F-15 after losing a wing), Helps win the Belkan war before becoming so distraught by both the Firebombing of Hoffnung and the Belkans Nuking themselves out desperation that he defects to a terrorist organization that wants to "Reset the World" by Nuking it and in the end, almost succeeded in doing so(and making him a War Criminal in the process). Osean Journalist doesn't seem to care about that, considering he doesn't seem to think getting to interview Pixy is that big a deal and because he's still pining after Cypher. Hell, all they'd really need to do is having the journalist say "I Came to find out about Cypher, but since the man is a fucking ghost and realized Pixy is far more interesting and newsworthy, I'm gonna make this story about him instead".

Arguably, Pixy is the Main Character of the game, he's just not the POV character.

No an Edgelord is Deadpool
Not really. At least not the modern Deadpool. When Deadpool first appeared, he was nothing more than a blatant clone of Slade Wilson with hardly any of the quips or personality. Just some jackass mercenary that said generic and "edgy" '90s comic book villain dialogue. You can thank Rob Liefeld for a character being that shallow at the start.

Hot take, I think we need to stop dunking on the dark age of comic books for edgelords when we should pity them for the fact they likely got their influences from 70's exploitation cinema and noir in Miller's case

I don't know why you're including "we" in this. I don't constantly dunk on the Dark Age of comic books. I'm not a big lover of them, and I'm not a major hater of them either. I really never read that many comic books from the '90s that were of the dark age. Most of my comic book readings came from the Sonic series. The Archie brand. While the dark age did have some good and heavy hitters, like any medium, Sturgeon's law is always in effect. 90% of everything is crap. Though for some comic book fans, they will probably go with 95% or 98%.

Yeah, it's always important to remember that survivorship bias is a thing. If you compare every new <media> to the old <media> everybody remembers liking, then of course the new <media> is gonna look like trash

Because nobody remembers the vast majority of old trash, just the good stuff and the standout trash

That describes practically every character Liefeld created, in-between times he was ruining everyone else's characters.

I'm just waiting for someone to say to me "music today sucks compared to the '90s" so I can reply with "oh yeah, these kids really missed out not getting to hear Vanilla Ice or Bryant Adams on the radio 24/7".

Yep. Which is why so many comics nerds still hate him.

Vanilla Ice's only "good" song is "Ninja Rap". I just know by the time it hit 1996/7, you could rarely ever or never find his songs on radio again in Detroit and most of Michigan. Aside from maybe 92.3 or 95.5 (which are pop stations), but even they stopped around 1998. That shows how fast his staying power went away.

And the 1970s in general was not a very pleasant decade.

It sucks that the majority of game's problems is always blamed on the devs, even though most likely they're a result of the publisher's or management's decisions. Most devs are gamers, they know that what they're doing is a dumbass idea, but they don't have a choice. And yet it's more likely that a lowly dev will see our scathing criticisms, SINCE the people who are actually responsible are probably too busy fingerbanging each other in some golf course in the Caribbean.

This isn't always true of course, but man, it must be horrible to not only slave away for years coding or modelling something you think is dumb, but then have to be blamed for it when the game releases.

And yes, this was inspired by Battlefield 2042. So many decisions that I refuse to believe DICE actually thought was a good idea.

Yeah, it is kind of obvious that the whole "specialists" thing is EA trying to dip their toes into the "hero shooter" monetization scheme. Buy a new skin to stand out on the battlefield!

I've been noticing recently, since the late 2010s that this happens less often, but it can still happen a good amount of the time.

Grasshopper Studios went through a similar issue in 2013 with the gigolo missions in Killer Is Dead. The only reason they were in the game was due to demand from Kawada publishing, the Japanese publisher. Us Westerners got XSEED (they can be dicks too) to publish the game, but with no changes. Most professional reviewers were having a field day with this and either blaming Grasshopper or saying it would kill Suda 51's career. Neither of which became true or are true. Him and his company are still in business and are doing very well. Suck it professional reviewers.

No fucking way did a developer as big and as experienced as DICE genuinely think there would be no issue at all with having two teams of 64 players fight each other with no visual differences between character models.

Sure, which was why 2010's was and still filled with hot takes on sexual content and deluded weebs defending the content like what happened with Gun Gun Pixies or Gal Gun. Fuck Killer is Dead and it's Panty Quest Mechanic from Kadokawa

Sure Suda did recover but we still live in a time where society is seeking to find their inner wokeness and Breadtube rather pandering to the Coomer within all of us

Once you do them to get all of the sub-weapons, you never have to do them again. A girl will still call you at certain points during a mission to remind you, but I constantly ignore them. The gameplay itself is just regular good, and has the combat to date in a Grasshopper Studios game. For the record, other than promotion and being the executive producer, he had little involvement with the game. Despite that flaw (which barely ever bothers me), Killer Is Dead I consider a good game overall.

Sure Suda did recover
He never needed to recover from that (There was much else going with at the time. I am glad he pulled through). Grasshopper's Dark Souls clone, Let It Die, practically set them for life. I held no interest, because they killed a much more interesting concept for it called Lily Bergamo. All that was the over sensitive and sensationalist reviewers creating drama and outrage over nothing, most people didn't care for or ignored.

Don't bother answering that. I don't care and ignoring it.

I already don't understand the obsession with RGB when it comes to regular PC hardware, but putting LED strips all over your room to match your PC really seems overkill, and I'm pretty sure is bad for your health.

Oh, but it can get stupider. I present you the Razer Zephyr, an RGB facemask for real gamers:
