No, they gotta experience the frame rate drops just like the rest of us back then, all for the sake of aesthetics and atmosphere.Never again. Dead and buried and a majority of people don't want it back, are those too young to even know about it will not care.
They'll probably just end up like EA and buy a bunch of popular IP licenses just to keep afloat while trying to make money. They basically lost good faith with the majority gaming audience via Marathon and D2 debacles, and now fans of the company who have been loyal for years are fed up with their horseshit. My hot take: Can we finally bury Bungie?
They haven't been the same studio that brought everyone Halo in decades. This is a studio that has been credibly accused of plagiarism several times, and actually stole from players by deleting content they paid for under the guise of "vaulting". (In fact, we know about the latter because of one case of the former.) And from what I've read, the last few expansions for Destiny 2 were very hit-or-miss (and fairly tilted towards the "miss" side).
It's over. Just let it go, and find some new games to love.
Hope they kept their 360s or PS3s, or they have a One X or Series X for the game that are backwards compatible. They ain't getting shit, and Western AAA is in the big shitter either too focused on GenAI or trying to copy Fortnite to care. No, they gotta experience the frame rate drops just like the rest of us back then, all for the sake of aesthetics and atmosphere.
At least fighting game companies took the hint and message. Though Netherealm was already ahead of the curb for years. Games like Guilty Gear Strive and that Dungeon Fighter Fighting game don't have an actual single player campaign, outside of Arcade and Survival. This Reminds me so much of the last generation of fighting games. Companies were releasing games with half-assed net play and basically no single player content outside Arcade/Survival. And a lot of people were sick of this shit, and any fighting game that didn't get rollback basically made everybody who were going to invest in it rant all day on socials about it. (Granted, the ranting was necessary. Button delay- based netcode can eat shit).
Less of a hot take and more of the standard FromSoftware fan take (and one I agree with. DS2 was my first attempt at a Souls game that I rage quit but loved when I came back to after beating BB and DS1). I personally even like it more than DS3 because it's quirkier and more than ER (which actually takes a lot from DS2 like dual wielding and other things I can't remember off the top of my head but there were many moments during my first play-through of ER that made me think of DS2).Dark Souls 2 is the weakest of From Software's Souls-type games, but it's still better than most Souls-type games by other studios.
(I have not played Demon's Souls yet.)
Eh, there's several places I've been lately where criticizing DS2 gets you called a band-wagoner.Less of a hot take and more of the standard FromSoftware fan take (and one I agree with.
I figured that was the universal sentiment after they announced the end of Destiny. That was the last group of gamers who gave a shit (and I suspect pretended to give a shit briefly after the announcement). My hot take: Can we finally bury Bungie?

This isn't really a hot take, moreso just you wanting more of something niche, and I never heard about this book. It was probably just a one off thing for any other massive IP like SF. A lot of the stuff like the Udon comics and such aren't really a priority as much as the games. And regardless of whether or not they sold well, 2nd hand media for games almost never meet the same popularity as the actual games themselves.Street Fighter The Novel: Where Strength Lies is one of the best game to novel adaptions I've ever read. Why didn't Capcom make more of these?! I don't want to milk this, but it would have been nice to have one more of these and base it off the story events in SF III: 2nd Impact & 3rd Strike. WSL is based off the events of Ultra Street Fighter IV, and acts as a sorta micro tie-in to Street Fighter V's main story.
This book came out a decade ago (2016), and no one talks about it! The writing, humor, and the few manga panels that appear are gorgeous and lead to a nice crescendo build up, or carries a heavy impact for the next page(s)! The artwork was done by the One Punch Man manga artist, so it's to be expected. Considering how well it did, you would think Capcom would get on and make another one later at some point. I get at the time, the cards weren't on the table due to Capcom nearly going bankrupt, but after turning profits and made full course corrections by 2019, this is never revisited again. It's a shame, because SF6 takes place after III, which was the latest in the timeline. It would have been cool have chapters where Makoto and Ibuki fight each other. A chapter focused on Alex vs. Hugo, or Necro vs. Twelve. These ideas would have worked and could have been awesome hearing these characters deeper thoughts and views you don't see in the games.
Which is crazy, because Udon still does business with Capcom.A lot of the stuff like the Udon comics and such aren't really a priority as much as the games.
Unless your Sonic, Mario, or Legend of Zelda. Kingdom Hearts had it during the mid to late 2000s, but that dropped long before III was even announced. And regardless of whether or not they sold well, 2nd hand media for games almost never meet the same popularity as the actual games themselves.
Those I more so get, because they're usually more niche than books, even in Japan.Kinda like those KoF drama CDs SNK did back up until XI, with dialogue and further exposition on plots or character moments(XIII sub story cd somewhere?).
Ironic, because Capcom has more than a few times have used minor elements from the Udon comics.which basically is what the SF Udon comics are.
I think it’s kinda funny that it now takes less time to download and install an older game (say 7th gen) than it does to install the same game from a disc. The discussion on ownership and all that is fine but it feels out of place in the context of GTA6. That would be like someone storming into a screening of the Minecraft movie and demanding accountability for children's education, screen time, and physical activity. A classic- "you're right, but not right now."
PC's don't have disc drives anymore! I just have this image in my mind of keyboard warriors bitching about no disc on their disc-drive-less PCs.
I just feel we're dancing around edge cases here. If you're digging up your copy of FF8 to play on your computer using your disc drive, you're a hobbyist. Most GTA6 players are not doing that.
If I demanded the new Olivia Rodrigo album be released in a cheap vinyl version (not one of these expensive version intended more for display than actual listening) because I want to really OWN my music, I may be right in a sense, but also justifiably laughed out of the room because it's 2026 and that is not the issue for the overwhelmingly vast supermajority of Rodrigo's fanbase.
