I know this may sound weird but I think that multiplayer added to it. No not like Halo or CoD, well maybe for the arena, but like a MMO except free and epic. A theater mode would also be nice for machinima purposes

That x1000.

Also, it would be nice if characters didn't flop around like rag dolls when they die. I will say it's hilarious to watch the Adoring Fan just kind of bonelessly slide down the mountain when I shoot him off a cliff, but come on.

Perhaps more of a difficulty curve and less of a difficulty staircase - level 9, fighting mudcrabs and wolves, not so bad. Level 10, suddenly mobs of giant bears that rip your head off. Reminds me too much of the '50 Levels of Hell' in recent Zelda games where one room you have five Keese and the next room you have twenty-five ReDeads that all wake up at the same time.

I noticed a lot of people like the multiplayer aspect, and I think it could be cool too, but only if it's co-op. I think the best comparisons would be like Resident Evil 5's or Saints Row 2's co-op, where you can invite someone into your "world/file" and have them explore with you, but not venture on without you.
But there would also has to be strict rules against friendly fire and thievery because you don't want people entering your in-game home and stealing everything, or helping you secure a rare artifact then stabbing you in the back, taking it and logging out.

No fast travel. Period.

Also, am I the only one who thinks Bethesda should put production on hold so that they can invest the time and money implementing something resembling the Euphoria Animation Engine (As seen in GTA:IV, Red Dead Redemption, Force Unleashed and some American football game).
If I hit an unarmoured civilian in the head with a hammer, the size of their head, I want them to have their skull crushed or at least be knocked out from the blow. Doesn't anyone else think it would be cool to start spazzing out if you get hit by a shock spell (that's a higher level than your willpower or something) or fall over if someone puts an arrow through your leg while you're running.

What was wrong with throwing weapons and spears anyway? And why are axes blunt in Oblivion? I suppose I just miss that belt that could summon monsters in Morrowind.

EDIT: I forgot about levitation :). But I can understand after finding an alternate way into the 'cities' in Oblivion.

Dual Wielding

Throwing weapons

less shitty voice actors

ability to have a beard (I tried to make one in Oblivion and it made my charcter turn purple from the neck down. wtf.)

XP gaines by kills, discovering locations, and completing quests as opposed to gaining XP by performing an action:
If you're like me and like to sneak then you kill your opponent with fewer hits due to critical bonuses, which means you are using your sword/bow less which means less XP where you should be getting more because you're doing a better job at killing. very frustrating.

I only have a couple of things that I'm hoping for. They're fairly reasonable as they involve mostly some more work in the "does not collapse if you look away for ten seconds" division.

5. Different rule system. Most people who regularly play TES are nerds. I will be the first to admit it. I don't do streamlined; streamlined seems minimal and lacking integrated mechanics. Call it OCD, but I enjoy figuring out how a system works. Nerds can handle it (plus I wouldn't mind being in some form of elitist group, it makes everything you do feel slightly more cool, while deviating from the group gets you props from the outside.)

4. More culture. Actually, TES has been very good at this, but getting better wouldn't hurt.

3. More badassery. It wasn't terribly gratifying when my 100-damage fireball that kills most enemies within 3 hits looks just like the 5-damage one I started out with.

2. Better faces. The only character I can ever stand to play is an Argonian, simply because my uncanny valley is slightly closer than most. Also expressions.

1. Actual interaction with NPCs, as well as making them a little more relatable. No more of this conversation wheel crap. How's about making non quest-related friends (or, shall I say, "people who think you're their friend, but really just hang around you in a less obnoxious way than the arena fan.")

I'm really not too scared for any of this, because I'm fairly sure modders will do it for Bethesda if they decided to go for the broader appeal.

- Compared to Oblivion: AN ENDING YOU ARE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN. Seriously, don't want to see that repeated, it stole so much ownership of the ending events of that game it was infuriating.

- A broader voice pool.

- Multiple resolution options for problems. An example would be a locked door. If it's a locked door, reason would follow that there *has* to be a key for it somewhere. But even barring that, give me options. If I can pick locks, that's one solution. But what if I'm not a safecracker, what if I'm a big fuckoff viking with a warhammer. Let me try to bash the door in, even if it comes with the cost of alerting everyone nearby from the noise. Maybe I'm good at talking to people and I can fast talk someone to let me in. Maybe I know a spell that makes an object incorporeal for a short time. Something.

- The less it feels like Generic Fantasy Land the better. Morrowind did this wonderfully. Oblivion pissed all of it away. Skyrim is viking land. I hope they viking the fuck out of this game and don't backslide.

How about enemies that stay the same but stronger versions of those creatures have more chance of spawning. Chance implies that you still have a chance of meeting the Ferocious Alpha Wolf of Death at level one but you're more likely to encounter a neutral Cautious Wolf.

Cities that feel like cities! Give me a marketplace where vendors are haggling with customers and advertising their wares through the art of shouting. Give me crime that can't be attributed to one of my actions or decisions. Give me feet in first person you bastards!

I have two demands, very reasonable.
1.) Not to start in jail.
2.) If 1 is ot possible tell me my crime, make me understand why I am incarcerated.
3.) DON'T MAKE PEOPLE FORGET WHY I WAS IN PRISON IN THE FIRST PLACE, seriously where's the punishment for escaping from a jail?

*How about the option to ally with the bad guys for once in a Bethesda game?
*No stupid essential characters.
*Don't make every character of the same race and sex have the same voice.
*GET MORE VOICE ACTORS! Or at least ones that have the ability to change their voice.
*Don't make us the feel like a little errand boy going back and forth between dungeons and doing fetch quests.
*No presuasion minigame crap, how someone likes you should be based on what you choose to say in dialogue.
*Make the most powerful armour in the game hard to get. That way we don't see lowly bandits with full Elven sets of armour or mauraders with Deadric armour and swords. Morrowind handled Deadric armour way better.
*Make factions more like they were in Morrowind, that way a brute type character who doesn't know any spells can't be Archmage and a mage can't be a champion of the Fighters Guild.
*A better face creation system that doesn't force us to make females cheeks protrude out just to make them smile. Also make fat, skinny, buff, tall etc etc options for our characters.
*Lastly, no, please dear god, please just don't, do not, for the sake of humanity bring back that awful leveling system for enemies.

There's more but I'll leave it at that.

EDIT: Oh how could I forget?

Imperial Watch: It..it's you! The Hero of Kvatch!
*steals spoon worth nothing*
Imperial Watch: Stop right there criminal scum!

Please fix this.

Bullox to no fast travel. I don't want to waste half an hour walking to a location I've already discovered.

Archery that is worth two shit's.

A law and order system that actually works.

The ability to brutally murder the Annoying Fan's great great great grandchildren. Again and again.

Never played Morrowind, but:
-A UI designed for computers then ported to consoles, not the other way.
-No DLC. The 'quests' for each are ridiculous, you are just given new houses whilst still in prison, this is a roleplaying game, why would my orc barbarian inherit some mage tower?
KOTN and SI were worth playing, but once you have taken battlehorn castle once, there is no need for it.
-Demphasize magic, put some limits on alchemy. In TES:IV you could kill anything without it touching you using custom spells, and magicka potions rain from the sky.
-Don't put the spellmaking/enchanting altar behind a ton of awful quests. Want a nighteye ring? Then I hope you like fetch quests!
-More unique dialogue, and don't just have your 4 voice actors record the same rumors. If all elves must say the same things, don't make them the same things that all orcs say
-More stealthy tools, sneaking and sneak attacking are all they have. Thieves aresnal's vine arrows are amazing, as are its thieves quests where it isn't painfully obvious where to go.
-Less linear progression in general, walking down every corridor you see shouldn't just lead you straight to the objectives.
-Please god no attribute bonuses. Having to take notes to level efficiently is not cool.
-Lower the value of loot. Buying all the houses with the proceeds of just the main quest shouldn't be doable[/hyperbole]
-Stop railroading us on quests. I have to fall into the obvious traps, because thats the way the quest was written. Boy Kalthar sure is obviously evil, better ignore it. Wow, an ambush, how dramatic!
-More random events, like bandits making raids, necromancers graverobbing etc. At the moment the world is full of people who stand waiting for you to walk up and kill them.
-In oblivion there are no real choices, at no point are you asked to give up something to get what you want, you can complete every quest in the game, and juggle being listener for the black hand with being an agent of the gods.

If you don't like it... don't use it? I like to walk places, but not if I'm nipping back across the whole map because I forgot my sword.

1) Variety of weapons. Spears and thrown weapons please. Beyond that, the standard bows, hammers, swords, axes, daggers and two-handed versions of those weapons are fine.

2) Feats. Talents. Abilities. Basically, a system, like in D&D, The Elder Scroll's non-digital forebear, where you can specialize your role, increase your effectiveness under certain circumstances and overall be more unique. Important: let players retrain the most recent of these "feats" that they took if they decided that they don't like it, but don't let them retrain all of them at once. The time between levels or milestones should be large enough to settle on a choice.

3) Somebody earlier mentioned eliminating spells that render certain skills useless. I agree with this.

There have been many good requests made, specifically regarding level scaling, environment/enemy variety and immersion. I won't bother repeating those. Instead, I'll talk about certain ideas that I think wouldn't work for a TES game.

1) Free running/acrobatics. I understand how fun the parkour is in Mirror's Edge/Assassin's Creed, but let's be honest here: that really wouldn't fit in an Elder Scrolls game.

2) People talking about making Guilds exclusive. Wherein joining one guild precludes you from joining another. While I liked the idea that there would be certain organizations that are exclusive from each other (Necromancers vs. Mages, for instance), one shouldn't be restricted to choosing one guild. A spell-slinging sword-master is a common and popular archetype in fantasy, and it would make sense for such a character to be a high-ranking member of both factions.

3) Fast travel. Leave it in, but don't point out locations on your map that you have to walk to. Let people figure things out on their own, but don't make it too difficult. A quest log with directions would help in that regard.
