Technology is making life a lot easier, but it often chooses very inopportune times to not work.

I, for one, was given one night to finish a massive PowerPoint presentation to present to the class the next day. I went home and immediately booted up my computer, only to have it immediately turn off and refuse to turn back on.

I switched to my laptop, and since it didn't have PowerPoint on it and I lost my Microsoft Office package/discs, I decided to download the free trial and finish the presentation with that. Unfortunately, my internet suddenly became extremely slow, and when I went to download the trial, it was downloading at (literally) 4 bytes/second. I left it for an hour in the hopes that it would speed up (it didn't) before I tried to go to a different site, at which point my internet connection just gave out altogether. I didn't finish the project and lost 50% of the mark I got when I did hand it in.

So what kinds of things in this theme have happened to you?

I was repairing a DVD player and a capacity leaked all over my hand and then I was almost electrocuted because they still had a lot of charge in them for some reason.

With programs, I installed windows on a brand new hard drive and windows became corrupt and made the hard drive think it was only a 1mb hdd....that was a waste of a 750gb.

You dropped your mp3/mp4/iPod player on the toilet? Wow.
Well, I guess I always have clashes with technology when dealing with my computer. NOTHING works like it's supposed to. =/

Not really sure this one applies, but my worst experience with technology would have to be with an airplane.

They loaded us into the plane, pulled out of the gate, then decided that something somewhere had failed. Then they left us on the plane while they inspected/fixed it over the course of 5 hours.

As far as gaming goes, it seems that all PC games that are under three years old won't let me play them without first making me go through the strenuous task of searching the internet for the solution to a problem. I don't even have a bad computer, and am always above the minimum requirements (and sometimes beyond the recommended requirements), but it seems every game I play doesn't care. I still have to deal with that sound-loop glitch in Source-powered games.

I was walking in the kitchen when I stumbled over something I never figured out what was, then grabbed after the nearest edge to avoid falling.
Too bad it was a hotplate which I had used a minutes before.

Well, I was working on a full-length play script that had taken me a couple years to complete... Then my computer blue-screened on me. I figured I could salvage the stuff from previous edits and work from there. No such luck. The file itself dissapeared. I searched frantically and my dad managed to recover a much older version from a previous back up. The two hours before my dad found the old version were spent in tears. Ever lost your magnum opus?

Also I guess the experience of having my Thinkpad laptop electrocute me a few times was pretty bad. First it was small shocks I thought was just static electricity but then I had a hot tingle all the way up my right arm. I worked out I couldn't use it if it was plugged into its charger. And the battery went down in moments, so it was always plugged into its charger.

I just tried to reformat and then reload my music onto my mp3 and the screen promptly turned black and it will not respond. I think I may have to buy an ipod. It would make my sould combust.

Almost every computer I touch
Does that mean you have to use a different computer every time you post here? XD

As for me, the virus problem I had with my computer about a week back was a severe issue, and I almost had to wipe and downgrade my OS. Then the problem solved itself.

it was the laptop i am curently posint on right now that this happened to.

my computer had recently caught a virus that had hidden itself in the OS of my computer somehow, and i ususally can fix anything that has to do with computers and after a week of searching i couldnt find anything wrong with it , i got so pissed i threw it out of my second story window, it ended up landing right side up so it destroyed the battery and hardrive only, i replace them and downloaded a new OS and whadaya know, problem solved. Now i have a nice conversation peice whenever people come over

did i mention i am posting with the computer i threw out the window?

I was dong some repairs on my iPod recently, because the headphone jack has literally -sunk- into the iPod, making my headphones only broadcast on the right side. So I opened it up, and played with some of the internal workings.. But I think I flipped a strange switch, and it began integrating itself with other electronics, slowly consumed my house, and is beginning to take on a Skynet-meets-Akira type thing, and producing deadly cyborgs from organic material to "Purify humanity".

So, uh, AI apocalypse, may or may not be coming sooner than you think.

Not really, the first half is right though, I eventually fixed the headphones though and now they work.. after weeks of tinkering.

Its always awful when technology gets a life of its own and then develops human emotions.
