Same here. I only bought the damn game because of Day of Defeat: Source and Half-Life 2: Deathmatch.
Counter-Strike is a hard one to get into, I found. I eventually got into it after months upon months of being quite the n00b, and then when TF2 came out, I fell out of CS:S so much that these days, I suck at the game, and find it very hard to get into again.
The lack of any play for those that die fast makes the game hard to get practice in. The best one can really do is play gun game to learn, but even then, the game still penalizes you for death by taking you out of the action for 2 or 3 whole minutes, making the game very hard to practice with.

Flying vehicles in any Battlefield game.
....
Just... stupid helicopters!
Also done this. Bad Company and I decide to go online for some action. I see the helicopter and get all excited for flying vehicle. I figured it should be fun, because it was in single-player. No one told me the helicopter in single player was different. I planted that thing into a cliff my first flight in multiplayer. My next two attempts weren't that good either.
Eventually, I gave up learning to fly with keyboard and mouse by hooking up a controller to my PC. It remedies the problem to an extent, but I still sit back in awe that manages to fly AND land a helicopter without crashing, and those people are usually rare and have a controller on stand-by, next to their keyboard.
