Ground, because it is extremely practical. Electriciy? Sure. Water? Yeah, it's useful. But ground? With ground you could fly, teleport (if Avatar: The Last Airbender is anything to go by), build entire buildings, build entire continents, etc. Ground is just far more practical in a real-world environtment.

Wind if it allows me to fly, but electricity if it lets me travel with the speed of lightning! If I can manipulate electricity to move super fast, then definitely electricity...

Though, using the power of wind to create vacuums around my enemies and kill them very quickly is a nice idea.

Electricity and ice aren't of the four elements. Ice is just water when it's cold, and you could really stretch electricity actually being fire.

You could... if you knew nothing about electricity.
Exactly

Fire I have always wanted to be able to burn anything whenever I wanted and I could use it to fly!

You are restricted to one of 6 elements (five usually, but ice AND water is a little overpowered):

Electricity, ice, water, ground, fire or wind.

Which one would you choose and why?

Also, consider how well you would take on people with the other elements in a fight to the death.

EDIT: I'm actually going to start keeping record of the elemental armies we have on either opposing team.

Oh yes, and people, you ARE meant to be heros :/ Its cool and all that you have devastating power, but what does it matter if you kill everyone you know and love in the process -_-

Electricity: 31
Ice: 8
Water: 8
Ground: 9
Fire: 13
Wind: 21
Are we going by avatar's ruling that with water you actually control fluids, meaning moisture in the air and peoples blood, etc?

I'm probably more of an earth person myself, it's very versatile.

Electricity, because it offers several non-lethal strategies and because no one fucks with someone who throws lightning bolts.

I'd go with water. It covers about 70% of the earth's surface, and there are a crapload of things that are made with water; the powers I had could vary greatly through freezing it, condensing it, compressing it, or evaporating it; and 55% - 78% of the human body is made of water, too, so.... Going with water.
Wind covers all of the earths surface
True, but I'm still going with water. It's like my element, and stuff.

Assuming the power is maxed out I would pick air. Couldn't I stop any bad guy by just stifling them until they pass out? Redirecting bullets and throwing people around with wind.
As a hero, the other ones would be too destructive for them to be useful. I might be liable for the damages you know.
I don't want to use earth powers and tear a whole city down. Or have a bunch of people sue me for burning their building down. I'm bad at keeping secrets. They'd make me give them my insurance info. D:

As a villain I'd use electricity and dress as Black Adam.

Fuck yea.

Would we be able to produce it, or just use what's around us and amplify it? Because that's going to change my answer. If I can produce it, ground. If I pull it from the environment around me, water.

That sounds ass backward. You'll never NOT have the ground. But you can run out of water.

There's water in the human body and in the atmosphere most of the time. Sometimes, you might be indoors several floors above the ground and might not be able to directly control it, or get it to you in time to be effective in a fight.

Wind: Heavy metals for stability and debris impact, Alcmeize Debris to use against opponent maybe some explosives if they are using a tornado to protect themselves. Projectiles would be difficult so surviving would be easy, removing them would be hard.
Yeah...

TOO BAD I'M SUFFOCATING YOU WITH MY WIND POWERS, HAHAHAHAHA
EDIT:OR EXPLODING YOUR LUNGS, HAHAHAHAHAHA

EDIT2:Now that i think of it, pretty much all of these elements have an insta-kill move,
wind: see above
water: messing up your blood
ice: messing up your blood
earth: messing up the minerals in your body
electricity: heart stoppage
fire: fire

Glass> Sand> dry dirt> dirt> Earth
Concrete> Mixed salts and minerals> Earth
Metals> refined minerals> rocks> Earth
Buildings provide ammo for Earth.

The amount of water in the air is generally only 50% saturation. Although that doesn't make the air half water. I don't know that it would be enough to make effective weapons. As a hero you probably shouldn't rip the water out of people to fight.
Because it would make them dead.
