YouTube content creation "sins"

A recent video I watched on another thread brought up something that bugs me a lot about some YouTube content creators... A lot of them all do some little things that simply drive me nuts and tends to sour my impression of the content and/or content creator. So, I thought maybe it'd be a fun thing to make a thread about what "sins" YouTuber content creators make in their videos that is either commonplace, really annoying, or downright unwatchable. I'll kick us off with a few:

- Highly over dramatic and/or overly lengthy intros (Upwards of 20-30 seconds)
- Thumbnails that bulge out people's eyes to make them look wider with bigger pupils
- Intros that start with "Hey guys!", made worse by following up with their channel name, made even worse by following that up with "And we're here with another *insert topic/genre* YouTube video," made EVEN WORSE with "And today we're going to-" etc etc. It's not hard to do something as simple as a 2-3 second fade in and actually starting with your script. This kind of intro is eeeeeverywhere.

Hmm, yes. That'll do for now

I think its worse when they have a huge clickbait title like "DOCUMENTS PROVE YOUTUBER LIED TO COURT. JAILTIME?!" and its a 20-30sec intro, 30 sec on like/subscribe/molest the bell/patreon/enjoy these videos a week early, then a 3-5min summary of what's happened with the Youtuber dejur, most of which is just hearsay and speculation, followed by an add for either RAID SHADOW LEGENDS or a pubic hair trimmer, and then 30sec worth of 'Insider sources say X, Y, Z' then fake laugh, then a 'Hope you liked this video, please like/comment/subscribe/molest the bell/patreon/enjoy these videos a week early/ part 2. Then end. Video is 10mins long, because money, with about 30secs worth of 'content' that ends up just being rumors.

For examples look at EVERYONE NEW/GAMING CHANNEL EVER. Quartering, Geeks/Gamers, Gundam and a bunch others are top tier grade A guilty of this.

This. If I click on your video and it's 30 seconds of you qualifying your channel before I see why I clicked on your video in the first place, you ain't getting that sub you're whoring for.

Oh yeah, those are hot garbage. Believe me, there's TONS I could've started the thread off with. But then it wouldn't be much fun for anyone else who wants to put in what bugs them most, haha

Whatever, just wash your hands.
Overly dramatic clickbait type thumbnails. I hate those, you have to be a creator I know and like for me to put up with that at all and Ill still be annoyed by it, I just might click it though.

followed by an add for either RAID SHADOW LEGENDS
The only good thing to come out of that raid shadow legends ad push was some of Gigguk's stuff.

Anything from Cinemasins as he's aggrivating and ***** to watch. His clones are even worst to some degree. The only exceptions are GCN and Cinema Wins. The former because he is actually funny and does research., except it's with video games. The latter because, he's just not having an over exaggerated, know-nothing-at-all ***** fit, and does not insult his target audience or people for disagreeing with him. CW also find the positive aspects of even, supposed, bad films and show either flaws are usually exaggerated overblown, or are usually false.

Honest Trailers can be a pain in the dick too depending on what they're talking about or overcritzizig. They've insulted people for liking/disliking a movie too, so they ain't scot free either.

The only ones I would let get away with the dramatic intros are Internet Historian and Internet Comment Etiquette, but only because I find their videos gafawingly historical

People who can't even talk properly. No rythm or flow to their words. When your video is already 30+ minutes long, being a monotonous bland piece of shit will guarantee I won't finish your video. Its like being back in a classroom during a lecture.

I also hate it when YouTubers think they matter. Sounds mean, but when a YouTuber goes "I can't believe Game Developer X didn't do Y in Z game even though I SAID IT WAS A BAD IDEA". Shit man, even if you have a good number of subs, you're still a pimple on the hairy ass of the YouTube world. Thinking that game developers take notes from your videos, much less even watch them, is insanely egotistic.

Lastly, kind of specific, but there are some "YouTubers" who upload clips from anime, and they loooovveeee to edit their thumbnails to either put some weird glowy highlight on something in a frame or add blood and gore to scenes that don't actually have them. You don't even make your own content, you have to lie to your viewers too?

I watch a few guilty of this, and honestly like their content, but good lord, does that line grate. "Click the bell icon" rates up there as well, and is debatably worse because YouTube's notification system is royally screwed because of how bloated it is.

See, herein lies the problem: It works, and it's practically necessary for people who want their channel to actually go anywhere. People have actually tested this.

Oh totally. For me at least the contention is more that the phrase has become so ubiquitous and rote that if you just do it mechanically it comes across a little... Stepford Wives-y. Like, you can do something in a really bland way and it may still get the job done. But should you? Other YTers I've noticed just work it in more smoothly as part of their outro or just leave it on the end cards.

What I don't get is how it works. It never works for me personally, but I know I'm not the general public. I guess if you just ask nicely people do it? Or maybe it's bringing attention to it and that makes people remember it's a thing?

Makes me think of Game Grumps making fun of that (they never do it)

Timestamped video, don't let the length intimidate you:
