Youtube Google+ Linking

The day that I'm forced to make a Googl+ account in order to sign into YouTube is the day I no longer sign in. Hell, I almost never sign out of YouTube just so I'm not constantly bothered by Google wanting me to switch. It would be nice if we could organize something on YouTube where a massive amount of people stopped using YouTube for a week or so or something to tell Google that we're tired of their crap. Unfortunately I highly doubt anyone would be able to get enough people together to make a difference. It's even more unfortunate that the only people who probably could are basically Google's bitches now and wouldn't be willing to risk not posting a dozen videos a day until Google decided to actually listen to us.

I've been using the Feather beta on Youtube recently so I don't even see the comment section most of the time, but when I wanted to make a comment I would switch back and write something without much of an issue, although I'd get the annoying 'You should totally use your real name and sign up with G+ y'know!' popup and ignore it. Now I can't even make a comment at all, so I might as well go somewhere else to comment on videos or even switch to another video site like a lot of people probably will. So less ad revenue for youtube and their content providers I guess.

I find it stupid that Google will allow their crappy social networking site that failed once before to drag down another of their services that was at least partially functional when they left it alone.

So, I switched my account to be linked to a google+ page a few days ago. After youtube bothering me likely more than 50 times I just finally said fuck it and did it. In light of the new comments needing a google+ account I figured I'd make this thread.

This system is the most clusterfucky, confusing, pointlessly convoluted piece of shit that's ever come out of either Google or old youtube. I can go into details if you want, but the system is a Frankensteined together mess of forcing you to use google+ and keeping your youtube channel how it is. It also decided to delete my youtube avatar because "fuck you" I believe was the official reasoning.

It also then disables your youtube inbox, and now all messages are delivered via google+.... which has no inbox at all. It's just a stream of fucking bullshit. I can't imagine what would happen if you were a youtuber with hundreds of comments. That box would flood at a rate no one could possibly keep up with.

Long story short: if you're still fighting the good fight and not switching to Google+, hold out as long as you can (if you still can?)! In general, I want to know what people think about this new system. My personal thoughts are likely obvious in my writing, so I open it up to you guys.

Just going to address the youtube inbox. It does still exist, but the only real way to get to it is to go to youtube.com/inbox while logged in.

I guess their goal was to get people to stop trying to make YouTube comments, so I guess good for them, I'm no longer able to contribute to the guys that read the comments.

Well they also removed the character limit for comments so... endless spam and ASCII art penises and swastikas ho.

+1. Please tell me how. I absolutely cannot find the inbox on Youtoogle+, and the comments have become even more useless than they already were.

I thought I did it the right way by creating a G+ page for my 'channel' so I could keep it separate from my real name etc. but all that lead to is me having two different useless G+ accounts and an F-d up Youtube.

You know what the worst part of it all is?

YouTube's eight years old and uploading still breaks, videos still don't go out to subscribers and playback still fucks up.

Google's ignoring the site's needs and piling on bullshit that nobody actually wants.

This. I can't really talk about other YT functions since I only have an account to have one and don't use it at all. But that the basic functionality of Youtube still shows so many flaws - some of which are easily recognisable as non-fundamental, fixable with a bit of work - just boggles my mind.

Like how whenever I change the audio level of my computer by clicking on the little speaker in the down right and afterwards click fullscreen, the fullscreen will not properly function if the volume option was still open.
Or the fact that there are so, so many crashes.

Also, when I watch a long playlist right now, I have to manually start every video even though autoplay is on, with the same look to it as if it is the start of the playlist. Thanks, Youtube.

I'm pretty much unaffected by this change, to be honest. I don't comment and I never connected a G+ account. Though I still think it's stupid as hell.

Youtube, the example of what happens when one company wins the war and gets lazy and full of itself. The only reason they keep changing shit is because it either directly benefits google's bottom line or it is for the benefit of advertisers.

Hell, what is hilarious if it wasn't so sad, is that a number of issues and bugs, from crashes to the bizarre inability to load up a full video weren't problems in the past. They are literally doing such a shitty job that the product isn't even stagnating, but becoming worse.
Youtube is getting worse and worse, I only hope something better kicks it while it is down and takes its crown.

I couldn't care less about the inbox and the only change I've actually noticed, that being the comment section, I like a lot. They must be doing a bunch of lying to people then, because when I went to my inbox today on YouTube, it specifically told me that all replies to my comments on YouTube would no longer show up in my inbox, only on Google+.

Though that is a lie, because I went to my crap Google+ page and there was no inbox or any kind of alert area. So where is the comments inbox for YouTube now? Well I will tell you, it is now under the Social tab on Gmail.

That is a shit mess because it doesn't just put the "replied to by" messages there, it also puts all those "YouTube suggests this video for you" messages there and the "this is what is next to watch for you from this person you are subscribed to(even though it is usually something you have already watched)"

What is even more screwed up, is my keyboard will not type in the comment boxes on YouTube anymore, I have to go to Microsoft Word, type my comment there, click on the YouTube comment box, wait for it to load the box, then go up to "Edit" in my browser bar, and then go down and click paste. Pasting can't be done by right clicking because those choices don't show up, I can't press ctrl + V because again, the box doesn't allow my keyboard to type in it.

Seriously, I think Google is doing this all to amuse themselves. They like hearing people ***** at them. It gives them more work, so that they can change things, and then change things because we ask, but still not changing to what we want, so they can hear us complain some more so they can do more work not doing what we want.

I for one like to see comments from people I comment to. What they did was make things more complicated. In the past, I made comments and then every so often I would click the YT inbox to look for any replies. Simple. It was one click off to the left to get the inbox.
Then they moved the inbox to the Google+ dash up in the corner. So that added another loading bit to bring down the dash menu, then a click on the inbox to load.
Then after that, they took it away from the dash, and put it in video manager, so I had to click the dash, click video manager, then click to the left to get to the inbox.

Now to receive my YouTube inbox comments, I have to leave YouTube, and got to my GMail, account and click on the Social tab, and then sift through that cluster-fuck of a mess because the put all the video suggestions and bullcrap in that list as well, with absolutely no way to organize it so that YouTube comments are more accessible.

Just because you didn't use your inbox, doesn't mean it isn't a bad change.

Even if you don't use it, I don't see how you can't see it is messed up for others. They turned a simple one click system into a multiple clicking, sign in, and sift through garbage mess.

This would be like if the Escapist changed their site so that there was no inbox for your Escapist comments and replies, basically getting rid of it, and then saying that all your replies will be sent to some other site/service that you never use.

Google is trying to make Google+ successful by forcing the need for it, not on it's own merits. That is bad business; that is how you kill a business.

heh. Not really no. You can't reply to every comment. I usually pick one or two per vid every day and respond to that
