YouTube has become an ungodly pile of awfulness, just why, Google, why?

It's possible to "temporarily" disconnect your Youtube account from Google+ (it's under Youtube Settings). This brings everything back to normal, and the inbox and such is in the same place.

It still doesn't fix the comments, though.

I disagree with the basic premise that Youtube was ever anything but a shithole.

You mean it wasn't in the first place?

It may have been a shithole but was at least a functional one.

All of Googles services have gotten progressivly shittier these past few years, hopefully a new company will rise up, overthrow the crap and start the process anew.

Best thing I ever turned on. All the features you don't care about: POOF. Gone. YouTube could have added random fart sounds to the normal video pages for all I know. Plus, the videos are having a better time loading.

I absolutely despise that they always try to make me use youtube with my real name tied to my email address. I don't really want my real name showing up publicly on the internet outside a professional context

Youtube has always been kinda shitty to be honest, but I dislike a great deal of the things that has happened lately.

The google+ integration, the only reason I have a G+ account is that Google made me one, I've never even seen the site nor my account.

Every time I want to comment they try to force me to comment with my real name rather than my user name.

The removal of buffering kinda annoys me since it means that for those videos that simply won't load quickly enough to watch normally will have to load bit by bit as you get frustrated and realize you've got better things to do than spend an hour watching a 5 minute vide.

Before Youtube's "Updates" I never had any problems

Streaming speed and quality seems to be better then ever. Seeing as I use ad-block since they started the 30 second add BS I have no problem with the site. Besides selling my information but fk it everyone sells my information.
What? I [l]have[l/] would never use such a nefarious device (The "A-word" is blasphemous here), yet I still get bugs where the video just STOPS DLing or buffering at 7-15 seconds in, sometimes the video just doesn't play but the audio does, sometimes the video plays but the audio doesn't, half the time some video qualities just disable themselves at the start or at random times during the video so I'm forced to watch it in 360p and compare it to when I was watching it in 720p. Still get these problems after disabling your app too.

Do you have something I don't that just makes Youtube "not shit" or something?

Now, how am I suppose to read comments in one tab and watch a video in another tab without having to duplicate said video tab and then click on the "All Comments" button in the duplicated video tab, since you can't just right click the "All Comments" button in order to have that open up in a new tab for some reason ON FREAKING CHROME???

YouTube... Google... How many other tables are you trying to make me flip over in rage?? As much as adapting to your changes is about a jarring as sudden dark humor in a children's television show, come on now... I'm starting to believe you don't want me to get any money from posting videos on my YouTube channel... or is that the paranoia talking again?

Either way, I don't like it... and I still don't like it... (Put that statement on repeat for the past couple of Google years, YouTube... and add a few more for good measure...)

How do you now reply to comments? I can't figure it out. Used to be so simple.

I have no problem either way, but if a mod sees this comment you can kiss your escapist account farewell. Admitting to using ad-block here is a big no-no. Just a heads up.

OT: I have no issues with Youtube. I use it for watching videos and that's it. I never have a desire to post any comments (or read them 95% of the time), or use any of it's other functions. I don't subscribe to any channels or users either. As long as I can go on and watch whatever video I went there for, for free, I couldn't care less what they do with it.

EDIT: Too late, they got you :/

Anyone else have the bug where a video won't buffer, only stream? I used to let a video load entirely before playing it, but now I can't do that, regardless of how good my connection is.
iirc, that's not a bug, but an intended feature.

They deliberately made videos buffer only a short way ahead, instead of all the way to the end, to save bandwidth.
Because most people only watch the beginning of a video, before closing it. And on a fast internet connection, it was downloading and buffering the ENTIRE video, even if the user didn't watch it all the way through (and wasting all that bandwidth, and chewing up people's data caps, if they have them).
I can more or less confirm this is how it works. I have a bandwidth monitor on my PC and youtube videos very clearly transfer in chunks as you're playing and will simply NOT buffer if they're paused.
I wish there was a way to get rid of that.
I spend my weekends in a place where the Internet connection is okay speed when it works, and then goes out because I have to move to a place without signal.
So I can't watch Youtube there.

I'm sick of the more recent updates killing the comment section completely. On the bigger vids they tend to be stupid comment chains about nothing, but on the smaller commenters they tend to be pretty solid.

I'm just glad they undid the update that borked the sub tab.

Hey, it looks like they got rid of "flag as spam" for comments. That's actually something I do like. Too many people would just hide an unpopular opinion as spam or other cop-out bullshit.

I'm fucking done with Google plus. Can't comment without G+ account? Then I'm not commenting anymore. Simple as that.
And to draw a nice little parallel to.. Other services that were announced in the recent past; when a service is forced onto you, it's most likely not a good service! Take off the fucking blinders and smell the shit!

In the meantime I'll wait patiently for Youtube to get sucked into its own asshole, and for an alternative. Same thing happened with Ebaumsworld.

In order to comment you have to link a google plus account to your youtube channel. No, I'm not kidding.

Has anyone else been having

"You can't reply to this comment"?

Not only is it hard enough to understand what the fuck is going on in the comments, but now, at random, Youtube decides you can't reply to certain comments. And even worse, I tried commented - WHEN LOGGED IN - and it told me to "Sign in to comment!" ... I presume that this means Google+, in which case, fuck no. I made a username for a reason, and I made a Google Account for a reason. I made the G+ so I could connect to Roll20 games. I made my Youtube/Username so I had an identity, I had my account, my channel and more.

And now I must use my real name if I want to comment?! What the fuck!? It used to be bad enough spamming me every day to change it, but now it's required?! What? Please tell me this isn't true!

Please, go back to the old fashion. It's all "Most subscribers go first!" in the comments now, so that's fucked sideways.

It used to be "Linked Comments", if you go to a page to view a comment, then "Uploader Comments", so you know what the Uploader said, very helpful, then "Top Comment" usually good for a laugh or informing you of a big issue/thing with the video/comments, and then "Comments", which were done in order of earliest to latest posted.

That was PERFECT. It wasn't a forum, it wasn't a thread, it was a comment section. You do not need to turn it into a forum, like it seems they are trying, and failing, to do. Please stop.

Putting aside my dislike for their recent redesigns on YouTube's video font, layout, colour choice and overall goal to imitate Facebook, as a smaller YouTube channel (*cough* *cough*), I could appreciate the protection that the use of Google + would provide as it weeds out the trolls considering some of the nasty things i've seen. When I first started off, I had this one fellow who kept calling me profane words and saying my hair looked greasy, so I know what they're getting at. I could understand trying something new and providing us a better comment section and community... could, if that was the actual reason and didn't punish the entire community because YouTube has become too lazy and bloated to police its own site, much less other issues like the broken reporting system, the useless spam flagging feature that has been overly abused to silence those with an opinion, the broken subscription boxes and so on. In addition, many viewers don't appreciate the fact they are now required to use Google+ and use their real name. I've already written to YouTube personally and while I doubt I will make a difference, I do hope Google and YouTube reconsider the changes made to their comment system. The only way the YouTube community will become better is when we, content producers, commentors and yes, the sites creators, stand up, thrown down the gauntlet, call out and face these people rather than sweep the issue under the rug and expect things to go over well. They won't, I guarantee you, the vile of the YouTube community will not just go away because people have to use Google+. It will stay beyond that.

I appreciate the time viewers spend watching my videos and some of the wonderful comments i've received over my channel's lifetime, even after I abandoned it for over a year. To punish them because a bunch of 14 year-olds are spamming people with homophobic, sexist or profane use of words is not going to lead to a better community, just an angrier one. In short, i'm not happy about it.

Today Youtube tried to tell me something when I scrolled down to the comment section. Figuring is was another fucking downdate I just clicked ok without reading (if they're going to fuck me in the arse I really don't care what colour their strapon is). Now I can't see the comments at all. Anyone know what's going on?

as long as youtube still plays the videos I go there to see I care almost nothing about changes involving the comment section
