YouTube User Breaks Call of Duty: Black-Ops Secret Code

A YouTube user claims to be the first man on the internet to break the code hidden in Call of Duty: Black-Ops, revealing a plot twist.

A man on YouTube with the username 01MaverickTen10 has posted the above video detailing how he cracked what he jokingly calls "The Maverick Code," for lack of a better name.

The true accomplishment of cracking this code is noticing that there was a code there to break at all. Anyone who's played the game (or most other FPS's in the last decade) has seen the 'mission intel' that appears at the bottom corner of the screen when you start a mission often including what most would take as random numbers or gibberish.

But what appeared to be gibberish to most held the secrets of the ages to Maverick.

Taking each "Transmission Number" to equate to a letter in the alphabet (01 =A, 02 = B, etc.) and each "Designate Code" (Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, etc.) also corresponding to a letter, Maverick pierced the veil of mystery surrounding the code.

The message uncovered by the work of Maverick is...

Well, I'll just let you check out the video, but I warn you: spoilers ahead! Beware!

This is the highest rated comment for the video:

Cool, they used the NATO phonetic alphabet and numbers to hide another bit of info for the potential sequel. The messages from X and the final page of the final missions intel let us know that 10 years after Black Ops ends Mason, Hudson and Weaver travel to South Africa to find Dr. Clarke's brother for some reason, when they get there the CIA and MI-6 have a joint op using the SAS to attempt to kill them, with this new twist who knows what else was also programmed into Mason's mind...

If that is true we could have a Tavish-Price Hudson-Mason showdown to end the cod series and Activision could turn their developers to making Barbie Horse Adventure games and make millions selling it to 12 year old kids, with a super addictive online.

Interesting, but it's not exactly cracking the Enigma Machine. I think it would help if the guy in the video wasn't absurdly pretentious.

I'm impressed that those making this game actually put the effort into putting that in the game ... or if it was even intended. Could it just be a coincidence?

Really? Of all things that would have secret codes in them, you wouldn't think of a Call of Duty game.

what does that mean?.

OT: that's pretty funny, and a impressive feat by maverick, the video itself is a tad to long for my taste, but hey he is the first of i don't know how many million people bought the game, to figure that out, so there's an excuse for the length, unlike many other YT videos.

I myself didn't buy black ops and i don't remember much of WaW, so its not something im deeply interested in, but i must admit i am a sucker for a good old "or is he?" though it does speak volumes of the writing talent over there, i haven't seen a "or is he?" plot twist outside the laughable B movies since 95.

I love this guy's energy. Plus, I doubt that this is just coincidence. Even though I haven't play this game, I hope this code has some secret meaning.

Like I said, he told me what to write. I don't play CoD cuz I'm only 18 & a girl. xD lol. They're playing now so I can't call them.

Anyone else notice the military pics in the video? o_O no wonder he could break the code... if I took JROTC I could have too :p

That just blew my mind. Now, I'm not exactly the smartest guy out there, but frigging hell, that was interesting. Say what you want about the game, but it was a bloody good game, and if there ARE secret messages hidden in it, that's pretty damn clever.

i dont see why your age nor sex should interfere with that, especially since the majority of the CoD community is in the 16-20 age group.

I got that you where citing your cousins, the problem i had was that what they where saying made very little sense, what made them think the guy was a cheater, why should that stop them from watching a clip informing them about a plot twist in a game they apparently love and why, oh god why, was it necessary to mention their own interpretation of their skills.
