How many times, I've booted up Halo 3. Tried to play tactically, only to find out my team is a bunch of retards, with either no microphones or too much wax in their collective ears. The amounts of times I've been on Standoff, grabbed the Laser, turned around to see the Hog still hasn't been touched. Jump in the Driver seat and start chasing team-mates around honking my horn repeatedly waiting for them to jump in. Only to be rocketed or stuck because I stood around too long waiting for someone to get in. For those who are blissfully unaware. The Warthog, is a Jeep with a turret on the back that can shred a players health in a matter of milliseconds. So why they insist on taking popshots with Burst Fire weapons, I will never know. Then theres Defending an objective. I would be the only one defending the base, and in this time, my entire team have dispersed, turned into 1 man armies and each of them hope to take out their collective unit. So when it comes down to them being on my door, running rampant through our base and completing the objective. I get called the noob because I didn't defend properly, while it was me against an army. I'd understand if they'd managed to take down a few of their raiding party before they got here, but most of the time I'm dealing with a 4 or 5 man deathsquad. What makes matters worse, is that my team-mates usually take all the best weapons before going out solo, so I'm left with the Mattel Squeaky Toy to fend them off. Yet the most annoying of these crimes is callouts. If I call out a position where some enemies are, or are going. Normally that gives our team a headsup, a general idea of where to look and what to expect, and best of all the element of surprise. So when I join a game, and nobody but me is calling out. I'm flying blind, and I don't know what to expect until it's right there in front of me exchanging gunfire, or if we've lost our flag, I can be scanning the entire level before I see them. Yet no doubt one of my team-mates has spotted them repeatedly. Just haven't called it in.

For all of you that say Halo isn't tactical, your more than likely one of the people who do these things. I want a team that's alert, and aware. No doubt a team of average newbies can overpower even the best lone wolf teams out there, and Halo is all about teamwork.

Post your most common complaints about team-mates in any game.

Alot of the time, they believe they are in their own action movie and do stupid things like rushing forwards or refusing to think rationally or tactically. Thankfully, that isn't so much of an issue for me in games like Team Fortress 2 and Day of Defeat: Source.

Upgrade your PC to a 2003 standard, go buy Battlefield 2 or 2142, then see how much you still like it when people spot stuff.

It does help, though.

I read the first sentence, and I know exactly what you mean. I've always wanted a game where everyone has to play tactically, any suggestions?

This is why, on the few occasions I play online multiplayer, I tend to play deathmatch. If I'm playing local multiplayer, it's much easier for me to coordinate with the others, but if I'm playing with people I don't know, I find it much easier if I don't have to rely on them.

Get a friend and a second controller and set it to split-screen. I almost never do Xbox Live solo.

Have a LAN. That allways works out perfectly.

I haven't played that many games online. Not team-games that is. But I know how awfully annoying it is when the players of L4D don't even think about cooperating. Especially when they rush forward, and gets taken down by a hunter. And we at behind are struggling with soimething. Then I or someone else has to go alone and help them, and gets caught. And then everyone is going to hell. Quite annoying. No only on survivers side, though. There's more than enough examples of people not coop'ing as zonbies either ..

If people just talked with eachother, the world would be perfect

The first sentence:
"How many times, I've booted up Halo 3."

Why yeah, sure. I'm quite certain that everyone who's ever booted up Halo 3 knows what he means. I mean it's not something special about it =P
;)

try joining a game which isn't composed of random players from nowhere in particular?
respectfully, random strangers are the best. If you can mesh and work well with random
people, then you are well prepared in game and in life. Adjusting strategy and tactics
to the unexpected is what keeps me involved in games. Otherwise (imho) it wouldn't be fun,
it would be more of following a formula for success.

Funny how this is the problem with left 4 dead

you team actually USES you, not you work together to succeed

so many times have i hit a hunter of someone for that person to shoot a car then sprint to the safe house, not coming back to help his team mates against the hordes that he has brought down on us

Halo is a blast fest, team works is better used in a call of duty game

This is why, when I play online, playing with others is a CHORE. A self punishment I must drag myself through in order to experience all aspects of the game. If they're non-retarded, I shall note their names for future, if they are, big bloody surprise, make another note on the spacky column and move on in that pattern.

I disagree. Call of Duty is all about Kill to Death, and no amount of teamwork is going to help, when a person can just spray down a room and kill 4 peoples before he empties his clip.

Last time I played Halo online me and my friend were playing capture the flag. Some 12 year old twat was shouting orders at us so we took a phantom crashed it into the base, bum rushed the opposing team grabbed the flag and tore ass outta there. We were double the other teams score by the end because the others eventually caught on to charge the place and not listen to the little bastard.

If you want tactical go play Metal Gear Solid, Left 4 Dead, or Gears of War.

Join a clan and play against other clans. This is like World of Warcraft, where the most fun you'll have in pvp is when you have a premade group and you come up against another premade group in Warsong or wherever. 2 groups with a plan make things much more fun, and less of a grind because when you lose, generally, you lose because they were truly better than you and you can learn something from that. Losing because your ballbag team mates blow harder than Moby Dick sucks because you learn nothing other than that nagging sense of humanity is doomed.

If you want a game to play tactically play Red Orchestra (Available from Steam), although eventually you'll snap and pull out a noobtube in COD4
