Yup, this is my hell.

I hate spiders. I hate them, hate them, hate them. I don't even want to be in the same room as a spider I hate them so much.

So when me and my family went to see The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, you can guess which part of the film I was looking forward to the least. As I sat there watching the dwarves get captured, envenomed, and finally cocooned by the giant eight-legged monsters I couldn't help but sit there and think "This is my hell. Right up there." Being alone in a dark forest, being stalked by giant spiders...I shudder just thinking about it.

So, my fellow escapists, what are your personal hells?

There are many hells that I have personally thought up for various reasons all having to do with writing. I'm not actually sure which one is mine, exactly, only that it has to involve being unable to walk on top of everything else.

My personal hell would probably be a hospital floating 40,000 feet in the air. I'd be chased by doctors and nurses wanting to alter my DNA and experiment on me in painful ways and any escape route would lead to an incredible fatal drop.

Oh and the doctors are Terminators.

My personal hell would probably be becoming a blind quadriplegic. Not being able to move or see anything around you is the most frightening thing I can possibly imagine.

Pretty much me working in a take away shop as serving angry customer and it is steaming hot inside! I had to help out my parent friend when they were on holiday, sure I didn' encounter any angry customers but none the less it's my personal hell as I had food related job!

Being blind and deaf simultaneously would be pretty horrifying, communicating by touch only would make normal life, consuming media or even holding a basic conversation almost impossible... brrr. Slightly less worse but still a personal hell for me would be a 'Children of Men' style world where there were no kids left, it'd be incredibly boring (and most of my employment history would become useless >.>)

Children. I hate , hate , hate kids. One of my friends had a kid, and she went to the mcdonalds jungle gym park thinggy. It was the worst experience of my life. Screaming, crying, yelling, laughing, fighting , running kids. It was terrible. I wanted to kill myself. I'm never doing that again. Not even for my own bastard child.

My personal hell? People being able to read my memory.

Every movie I've ever watched.
That time my parents where gone for the weekend, I woke up two days before my 12th birthday, and washed my bedsheets in shame.
The time I was got a sandwich for my birthday.

So many horrible, horrible things, many embarassing things and if anyone were to ever see, I would completely break down.

My mind is my refuge. Its viewing my death.

Hmmm... I guess not becoming a (full) wizard at the age of 30...

Oh, and there's the cliche "every person you ask out will reject you without hesitation or without a logical reason" as that alternative true personal hell of mine... But, I digress...

Overall, anything that would be considered my "personal hell" wouldn't really do anything besides the typical "Eh... I guess I gotta roll with these punches once again"... (Man, would that make for a terrible memoir adaptation...)

Put me in a pit with snakes and spiders, even the harmless kind, and I will start screaming like a little girl. If you wanted overkill you could always put me over a glass tank filled with sharks.

Prison. Boring answer, I know, but the thing that makes it more frightening to me is the very real possibility that it can occur, and at any moment. Life is unpredictable, after all. But yeah, the thought of having your freedom taken from you completely and being treat, lets face it, as an animal in a cage is hideous to me.

I've often wondered what I'd do if I was ever sent to prison and the conclusion I came to would be to do everything I can to get myself put into solitary.

I couldn't imagine myself surviving otherwise.

Losing my mental stability. Which is weird, I'm not sure if I could tell if it happened.

I blame the book Flowers for Algernon.

I definitely see the idea in getting away from the other inmates, but I don't know. Months, possibly years, spent alone in a small cell. Neither scenario is exactly pleasant, of course, but solitary.. ehh, I think it'd twist my mind, to be honest.

Going to a club. Or a dance party. Basically, anything that involves being packed into a crowded, extremely loud room with a lot of people I don't know.

Having memory that only lasts until I go to sleep and when I wake up I can't remember anything that happened before I went to sleep.

Forced to watch Star Trek Enterprise's first season. Over and over again. TO mix things up, they show the occasional episode of Voyager as well.
