I need to make sure that I understand.
The player personally participates in the battle, and has only one strategic option (i.e, CHARGE). Yet, the mere necessity of summoning soldiers brand this an RTS? seriously, the hordes sound more like a fun backdrop for the battles more then anything.

Yes. We realize there are no WMD's in Iraq NOW but we had reasonable suspicion that there were before going in. Could you please actually study the Iraq War and the circumstances behind it before you make half-assed jabs against Americans? Thanks.

As a fully informed fully American, I would like to make a fully-assed observation. We did not have "reasonable suspicion". What we had, in fact, was shaky information from sources who were known to be unreliable and a corrupt White House leaning on the intelligence community to provide the answer they wanted rather than the truth. Colin Powell was not quoted as saying "I'm not reading this bulls**t" shortly before quitting because everything was on the up-and-up.

Lies and slander. I was following the Iraq from the beginning. The UN inspections were a complete sham. For all we knew the WMDs were moved from one location to another right under their noses. When we brought up the integrity of these investigations the US was shot down by the very people who set them up. Than suddenly Sadam destroys some nukes which he did not have. Also keep in mind that this man was on record for gassing his own people which requires biological warfare and broke 17 UN resolutions beforehand. He was not to be trusted. Do not believe in this political propaganda about how George Bush was a complete idiot and a criminal mastermind at the same time. It is utter rubbish.

I was hoping I wouldn't have to explain this because it's a bit tedious.

SEEM TO = It looks that way but that could be wrong.

VERY WELL = It might fit in but not as well as other stuff.

Saying that something doesn't SEEM TO fit into a category VERY WELL leaves the issue open to debate and other possibities. You're not really taking a position but simply making an observation. Whereas simply saying something doesn't fit into a category leaves no room for other possibilities or debate. One is then taking a position and resisting other viewpoints. It's essentially having an open mind versus having a narrow mind. Or so it would seem anyway.

I really liked Brutal Legend but when it started to be like an RTS I did not expect that, I like to play RTSes sometimes but not when I don't know it is one when Im buying the game, when I was buying it I thought it was a hack and slash with some driving element. Its not so much the game its more of what the commericals said it was and its something different from what it said it was.

Its like when your opening christmas presents you wanted a puppy all year and you hear a puppy barking on the inside but when you open the gift its a cat, which is not that bad but its still not what you wanted or expected

I'm pretty sure the comment was a reference to the text at the end of the video where Yahtzee claims to have studied German (and refuses to let an umlaut go unpronounced). The problem with trying to be smart-arse is if your not smart you just end being an arsehole...

Everyone and their mom seems to be griping about the RTS disguised as a hacknslash issue. I too was duped by the demo I downloaded and thought the game nothing more than an average HnS with jack black starring as jack black in a jack black production (and I fucking hate Jack Black, so that was already major points against it).
I uninstalled the demo and thought nothing else of it ever again until seeing some reviews.

Good points about the whole sandbox trend too. Not a complete fan of it. Most of the time it wreaks of a lack of original ideas and good writing to make a compelling linear storyline.

When you cut out Tim Schaffer's head and put it on a doll like that, it kinda looks like the marine's face from the original Doom. All you need is some blood on his face and a wicked grimace while firing the chaingun for more than 2 seconds.

I loved the demo. I pre-ordered the game based on the demo. The scene where Eddie rides the skeleton Mech-type thing down to the bottom of the hill had me in stitches. I thought it was going to be a hack-n-slash. I read the reviews of the game, and even though I dislike RTS-es, I still decided to give the game a shot. Then during the large-scale battle inside the hair-metal guys' palace, I realize that I still dislike RTS-es (or RTS elements, apparently) and I dislike them even more on X360.

What a let down. I traded the game in less than a month later to get maximum trade-in value. Oh well! I've got plenty to play between Uncharted 1&2, Dragon Age: Origins, CoD:MW2 and Assassin's Creed 2 this month!

Hey, maybe you're onto something there Yahtzee. Imagine it, "Tetris Quest". Where you travel around a huge open world doing quests that usually involve manipulating Tetris blocks and getting a certain number of lines. But you'd only start off with like 2 of the blocks and you'd have to journey around to find the others. Maybe we could throw some RTS elements in there too, have you command legions of troops that look like Tetris blocks.

Yeah, I'm gonna blame that overrated Jack Black. He's funny sometimes, he just doesn't know when to be serious. And RTS is usually serious/boring, you do not half-attempt to cram that into ANY game. It has to have focus and purpose.

Psychonauts was incredible fun. Cynical, cute, flowing...much like a hack and slash should have been.

He's the white "Will Smith". Haha.
