Now that he actually updated it with TEXT it can be intelligently discussed.

Anyway, SSBB, like others have stated, was, and still is, I guess, controversial, since its such a well loved franchise among Nintendo fans

People like Fable 2, myself included, but it has nowwhere near the adoration as a Nintendo franchise like SSBB

But, when a Gears 2 or Little Big Planet or Left 4 Dead review comes along, you'll likely see a huge increase in posts.
I concur

Maybe it has something to do with the fact you have to register to comment, many members won't comment on those threads anymore because no productive disscussion is produced.

Apparently Yahtzee gets around 4 million viewers across the globe.
I find that hard to beleive and would need some proof.

People keep saying the SSBB review was controversial because it was over hyped right? Well so was fable 2.
But not nearly as much

And why did you make two of these threads originally without text?
I already apolagised for that too. It was an accident.

I dont think its just me. Lots of people liked fable 2 and he ripped into it like a Christmas Ham, yet still not as popular as his SSBB review.
Um, he rips into everything except Psychonauts and Painkiller. his SSBB review was controversial because he spent most of the video ripping on gamers and in part, his fans. I think a lot of people felt betrayed and offended.
The absolutely only thing he didn't rip into was Portal.
he basically said that the only flaw was that the game was to short, but such was already obvious when he brought it in the orange box pack.

He did point out several flaws with Psychonauts and Painkiler even though he liked them.

Never the less, I believe that Yahtzee has lost a bit of the charm that I usually felt while watching his videos.
When I first started watching, the intro video was an amusing start, the content was unique aside from most reviewers, and the ending was abrupt and unexpected.
However when I watch it today, the intro is the same loud annoying tune every bloody time, the content is often getting old although it can still amuse me quite well, and the ending is often too expected making it not as funny anymore.

If Yahtzee keeps making the reviews, I'll keep watching them, and I think that's the general attitude of his fans. I do know a few people who stopped watching after the 'SSBB incident' but, if you'll excuse my language, they were brain-dead fucktards anyway, who would have quite happily let Nintendo bum them silly until they'd thought of a new title for the next SSBB game. (I bet you didn't know that's how they came up with the titles, now, did you?)

I personally don't comment on Yahtzee's reviews, but I do watch them semi-religiously.

As long as we occasionally give him food, water and a little love (or hate), he'll keep making us laugh.

Not that I really care whether he has a million viewers or down to just me. I'm gonna watch him anyway...

I'm personally expecting a spike if he reviews Fallout 3 - I think based on his reviews thus far that he'll fucking hate it.

LBP will definitely get a lot of attention too, because there's two very distinct sides of the LBP argument. It's either:
a) the greatest game ever that pushes the boundaries of what's possible in next-gen gaming and user generated content, ultimately providing unlimited gameplay, or;
b) a stupid cartoony playformer with a level editor and no depth.

If he takes either side we'll see a lot of commentary from the other side of the argument. I personally think option b is the one I most relate to. All my friends who went with option a on launch day stopped playing it within a few days.

I wouldn't. When I bought my copy of No More Heroes the chick behind the counter at Game was like 'you see the Zero Punc on this? Yahtzee freaking loved it' (and although the memories of that review that sprang to mind were those of him calling Travis an absoulute C***, I agree'd with her eitherway) now whilst I'm sure that if I'd gone into Marks&Spencer and bought a trilby, the lady(/man) behind the counter wouldn't have been all 'Dude, I bet Yahtzee's got a hat just like this.... sorry, we aren't allowed to sell this item to you. On the basis the chip on your shoulder isn't quite large enough... and also you look a bit thick' Ultimately the fact that I know a LOT of people who jib out random Yahtzee'isms and I've eavesdropped on my fair share zero punc discussions around and abouts too... so I think 4 million viewers weekly isn't that hard to believe at all.

The evidence is none - existent because this entire argument is flawed - your basing your argument on the fact he hasn't gotten as many comments as in some older videos. I'm am sure only a small percentage of viewers actually comment.

As for the 4 million viewers - theres a clip of Yahtzee on some TV show (it was on these forums yesterday) in which he said that - although it was quite a while ago, so the number might have increased due to the added popularity of The Escapist.

I imagine that Yahtzee might take the side of disliking LBP, seeing as he hasn't been to fond of puzzles and the likes in the past, and because he's not always too fond of the multiplayer.
Also because all the enemies are homemade and therefor not very intelligent.
Although then he might also like the single player levels created for him, or playing other peoples levels... or hell, he might even enjoy playing with other people if they don't all have to point out that "HOLY SHIT, YOU'RE YAHTZEE" and "OH YEEAAAHH, I JUST PUNCHED THE YAHTZEE INTO A FLAMING PIT!".

Comments are bi-product of views. The more people that view, the more chance of comments. Therefore the more views, the more comments and vice versa. Unless the Escapist implements some kind of view counter like that of youtube there is no better way of gauging traffic.

Not true. I'm sure Susan, Yahtzee and all the other important people on this site have access to that information and I'm sure Yahtzee is probably still the most viewed part of this site. Either way, I don't particularly care, I'll continue to watch his videos because I have nothing better to do for 5 minutes a week.

The SSBB review pissed a lot of people off, which is probably why it had so many comments. the lack of comments for his later videos could show that people agree with what he's saying?

I still watch it whenever a new one comes out each Wednesday. But, funnily enough, a friend of mine said yesterday that he was 'losing faith' in Yahtzee because he 'hates great games' (he meant Dead Space here) and 'loves sh*t ones' (don't know what he was getting at there).

Thats a good point. But honestly what are the odds of people agreeing with everyone of the things said in his recent video's? Slimmer then a bullimic stick bug.

I wouldn't say that exactly.

Although his reviews seem, well to put it bluntly, not as funny as they used to be and sort of dated. Don't get me wrong, I love the reviews more than the next guy, but I don't know.

His other reviews with more comments just pissed more people off.

True but SSBB has been out for months and Fable 2 has been out for only a few days give it some time.
The comment spike for SSBB died off after about 2 or 3 weeks. Fable 2 has been out for roughly that long.

I would point out that SSBB pretty much delivered what was expected of it, and Yahtzee ripped into it, i found the game alright, but that just made it more hilarious :p

Fable 2 on the other hand, just didn't deliver, i still liked alot of it, but there were some aspects overwhelmingly dissapointing, which i wont mention in case of spoiling, and the zeropunctuation review was pretty much expected. SSBB might not live up to its hype true, but Fable 2 doesn't even come close. anyway thts just my point of view.

Yeah i'm setting myself up to be attacked by Fable 2 fans aren't i but oh well........ i still liked it it just seemed like they chucked it out half finished, consequence of the industry over the art as it were. Oh and sombody please gag Peter Molyneux.

(what was that?? no..... no....... NOOOOOOO a fable 2 fanboy!!! urk *dies* oh damn the dogs pissing on my dead body, hehe, silly Chips, look at his little face)
