Don't use comments to judge views, its also not a good idea to put everything against the Vid with the most comments.

Maybe it's the fact his reviews have gotten a little boring the past one or two episodes. He needs to take on games that are obviously quite bad. Giving shit reviews to all these high quality games just makes him look like a joke.

I'll join the others saying comments aren't analogous to page views. I always watch Zero Punctuation, but I've only commented in a few of the related threads.

If there is an actual decline if popularity I would think it is because the novelty has worn of for some people. I still find Yahtzee hilarious, but with internet culture having such a short attention span as a whole others may have moved on to the next shiny object.

The sad thing is that Yahtzee WILL become old and he will retire. Most likley that won't happen for a while. I just hope escapist dosen;t delete all his old videos

To answer the question; it's just you.
There are always more comments about things he hates which others love. SSBB was the main one, as it annoyed a lot of people. I imagine there will be a good few more comments on the latest one later on. From what I saw, even people who liked the game agreed with him.

I dont think its just me. Lots of people liked fable 2 and he ripped into it like a Christmas Ham, yet still not as popular as his SSBB review.
Fable 2 didn't have NEARLY the insane fanbase that SSBB did.

And just because less people are commenting doesn't mean that less people are watching. LOTS of people don't leave a comment at all. Why would you leave a comment when you have nothing to say? Yahtzee's popularity is on the rise

There's actually a really simple explanation to why the SSBD and Mailbag showdown reviews got more posts than all others (notice this is valid for the ones before AND after): Nintendo fanboys.

I could elaborate, but anyone that's been aware or part of the gaming culture for the past decade or so is quite aware of what those 2 little words mean.

If you have any doubts, just take the time to read through some random pages of the comments on those reviews, and all other reviews.

People keep saying the SSBB review was controversial because it was over hyped right? Well so was fable 2.
Yeah but Fable fans aren't as rabid as SSBB fans. Plus most of them are over the age of 12.

*boom tish*

SSBB is a game that polarises a lot of gamers if you ask me. A lot of people like it because it is easy to pick up and play and you can kick a lot of ass by mashing a few buttons. There are a lot of people who hate it for that very reason.

The reviews with comments in the quadruple digits (or nearing them) are generally a subject of debate. Christ, SSBB was controversial enough to warrant a special. It's hardly fair to measure the popularity Zero Punctuation by merely looking at the number of comments. I've watched all of his videos multiple times, and I've never commented on a single one, and I'm willing to bet that a lot of people are the same way.

And now I feel dirty for posting in a Yahtzee related thread...

The problem with zero punctuation for me is not that he rips into games that I like -- I've already accepted that he rips into pretty much anything. The problem is that he DOESN'T rip into any games that I like. None of the recent reviews have been about games that I care about, or even will ever play.

Seriously, where is the Far Cry 2 review?? Left 4 Dead demo (or in another day or so, the full game)??

Your measure of popularity is quite flimsy. Not everyone comments on a video. Let's not mention how anticipated SSBB was. Folks had been waiting 7 years for the next installment. As such, many people sure didn't want to see their new favorite game torn a new asshole. That's why the mail response video was created.

SSBB a lot of people who search it find this review watch it and are outraged sending a comment.
Fable two made the reviewer laugh at the very end making sure they had just forgotten what had been told to them about fable 2.

I don't think Zero Punctuation is getting less Popular, its just people might not want to comment on them anymore, I don't comment on each of the videos, only ones I enjoyed.

Time+ No radical changes to the now-classic ZP model= less interest in the videos.

Honestly, I think Yahtzee's funniest material is in the Podcasts he's done with the Australian Gamer team. It's obvious those guys all play off each other really well.

Just wait, though. Someday soon Yahtzee will hate a game everyone else loves, people will once again start a huge debate and we'll see a resurgence of interest in ZP. Yahtzee's popularity seems directly proportionate to the number of big-name, popular games he hates.
