lol yes?while I grew up loving the Halo games, I'll admit I got bored halfway through Halo 4. human weapons pack a bigger punch than ever, but gosh everything "Promethean" just made me groan

I'm still enjoying playing it, tho I now see that Spartan Ops was less a gift to the players and more of a "well since the campaign was so short...here"

That's something about Halo that's always perplexed me, the alien weapons. They all look so ridiculously like toys. When you envision alien weapons, do you think nerf guns with glow sticks on them? I don't. Also, why is it in every Halo game, human weapons always seem to be the best guns, or is that just me?

On another note, Halo 4 is the only Halo game since 2 that I'd say was decent. My only gripe is difficulty. I choose legendary difficulty and it isn't even difficult, just inconsistent. As Yahtzee pointed out, you kinda just die from random bullshit.
yes...yes...
altho it's kinda cool when Promethean weapons vaporize enemies...but that's about it

it's NOT cool when they're vaporizing you >:c I too thought Halo 4 got harder, then I realized it was just those bs moments
though personally I felt Halo Reach had one of the most well-rounded campaigns, and 2 had the wonkiest one lol

Well, at least Halo fans can say he likes it more than Call of Duty. That's something... I guess.

It is true that reading the books before playing this is Warhammer 40K level of mandatory.
You really only need to have played the other games, but knowing about the stuff in the expanded universe helps alot.

I'll just say it as a halo fan, the story was wrapped up in the third game despite not being the ending everyone wanted. Tacking on new story seems pointless to me when some big name characters died in the 3rd game as well. I know that halo 3 hasn't aged that well multi player wise as well, however that's not really a reason to release a brand new game and mess up story that was finished/Rant over.

I'm always bewildered how Cortana gets more unnecessarily sexy and voluptuous each installment.

Does she have like special firmware updates?

Master Chief was downloading porn all those years, and with the porn came viruses.
And that's how Cortana snapped! Porn viruses.

Never been much into the Halo franchise. I played through the first game once, and I think I played a bit of the second one, but not all the way through. When my friend first got his 360, Halo 3 was all he played for almost a year, so consequently, I saw a lot of it. I can't count how many times we played through the campaign, but I still had no idea what was going on. so I'm not surprised that the story here doesn't get any better.

I enjoyed the characterization of the story as 'going from USB port to USB port,' though. That's always what it's felt like, to me.

Well, it'll certainly tide them over until the next installment.

Yea, the story gets a little dense for non-Halo fans. They could have used a little more exposition, I was rolling with it fine (being one of the forever-alone types who reads the books) but anyone new to the series must have been really confused.

Not sure how you feel bored though, the game moves at a pretty brisk pace.

They definitely help, but the games themselves provide generally enough plot so you're not completely lost. I would also recommend the Machinima prequel webseries "Forward Unto Dawn," as it provides interesting color into one of the main characters in Halo 4.

Got pretty much exactly what I expected from this review - he didn't like it that much, but thought it was better than the general sort of shit the shooter industry throws up now. It had plenty of funny moments though.

I'm not knocking your preference in games but I don't understand what could be a more exciting first level for a game. You're a super soldier, the last of your kind, aboard a massive spaceship, in space, which is under attack from a persistent alien force. On paper that sounds like a pretty good start.
Exactly. It sounds good on paper, but then why is it so boring? The first level is suppoused to present you to the game and keep you hooked. It did the opposite for me at least (and the subsequent 2 levels were a boring field and a boring art deco nightmare).

I know why Cortana and Master Chief make such a great couple. She's a hologram and he's a robot.

I'm kidding I'm kidding. Please don't kill me!

EDIT: Actually on second thought, please kill me just don't jump down my throat.

Never been a huge fan of Halo, only played Combat Evolved on the PC and got bored halfway through.
Man, I got bored before the opening cutscene was over and quit ten minutes later. Dull, dull, dull.
You spent $60 or whatever on a game and quit after 10 minutes? Are you Paris Hilton or something?

The WORST thing to happen to the Halo series (And probably Shooter franchise in general) was porting Halo over to the PC. Halo is a Console shooter, with mechanics based around using a dual-joystick controller instead of Keyboard & Mouse.

Torrents of puns are good, except when you repeat a pun on the same word someone else punned.

Put that quote up on the game box, people, that's a glowing recommendation if I ever saw one.

Video won't load. It just dims the screen as if it's about to load a secondary box (Like it does, usually successfully), but not this time.

EDIT: After twenty minutes of fucking with all kinds of things, it decides to work seconds after I post this. Go figure.

A friend came back to visit for the holidays last weekend, and he brought Halo 4.
Yeah...it's the definition of "stagnant".
I haven't liked the series as a whole; but I am did enjoy ODST and thought Reach was fairly brilliant (well, firefight and the class-system were legitimately good).

Then Halo 4 comes along...the only thing I can say is that I like how some of the environments look a bit better in places (and can only scratch my head at the developer's obsession with the color orange)
