hahah. I liked it. Still, Red fraction seems like a decent game to play. I'll maybe rent it in the future

He has nobody to blame but himself!
It's not an fps, it's a third person sandbox game.

I'm referring to the original Red Faction, that Yahtzee bought for the PS2 when there was a superior version simultaneously released for the PC.

And the original Red Faction was a linear FPS.

I'm glad someone else likened the buildings to bisuits - I actually had to keep pausing the game because I kept feeling peckish during de-urbanisation rampages.

I feel Yahtzee, and many others, have mistaken "guerrilla warfare" for something else; "Guerrilla warfare is the unconventional warfare and combat in which a small group of combatants use mobile tactics in the form of ambushes and raids to combat a larger and less mobile formal army."

Ambushes and raids. As in running in, breaking shit, and running away again. Sounds familiar... possibly because that's what this game consists of. And it's fun. Also, Yahtzee's complaints of not having enough ammo seem extremely odd. I'm yet to experience such a problem. The enemies drop a fair amount of ammo, for one, and there are also a hell of a lot of ammo crates (marked on the map) which you can use to restock if necessary. I can't help but feel that maybe Yahtzee is just bad at this game.

Its a wonder he didn't mention how communistic it feels some time. "Use your hammer of the proletariat and smash the overlord's bourgeoisie housing!"

Loved it...Totally agree with the last point...If its supposed to be like Guerrilla warfare, they totally messed that up...
What? You don't think that Guerrilla fighters rip off their shirts and sprint towards the enemy as soon as they see one, Rambo style in real life? It's all good, though: If you get hurt, just chill behind a wall for a few seconds and you'll be as good as new!

In the original Russian version, there's a mission where you have to escort Stalin to the Mars colony to lead the revolution after he returns to earth for a second time, Jesus style.

I enjoyed it, but did anyone else feel it was a bit short? or perhaps it's just sleep deprivation sending me nuts :D

actually I think it is just the sleep deprivation. :)
I thought it was a bit short but maybe when your only positive reason to get outta bed ona wednesday is "OMFG NEW ZP TODAY YESSS!!" then all his new vid's seem a bit short lol

eitherway short or not loved it, love 'em all, Yahtzee will forever remain the king

Side note: Is is just me or does it seem you can go on any give ZP thread and theres always at lest 2 or 3 people getting banned/suspened/warnings?
I think it was mainly the last crack, with the chimpanzee warfare, it just made the end feel a bit abrupt :/ though I do agree, ZP is the highlight of my average Wednesday, and a 4-5 minute video is a bit, not sure how to put it, but you get what Im saying :) and yes, always the first 3 posts are along the lines of "first" and banned. though in fairness my post was just that primitive part of my brain wanting first page, but I tried to at least put something relevant :D
lol yeh it's natural instinct to want something on the first page...the common "rock star" gene that makes humans thrive for people to pay attention to what they have to say and when half of the people who read boards read the first few comments and then leave well it makes you want to be one of those "first few"
but yeh i understand to have quality he needs time but how awsome would it be if his revewis were daily? I know its almost impossible but still i'd be awsome.
and yeh all the people who say "first" get banned but half the ones i go on there are always like 3 or 4 people banned for flamming and being negative about yahtzee or insulting people. it's like there are a bunch of sparks and yahtzee's reveiws (intentionaly or not) seems to drop gasoline all over them lol

Yahtzee is definatly picking more on the Bowie Humour; the "neutral" joke in the last one with Bowie's face and the least bit concerning spiders from Mars :D Someone's discovering classic music :]

Oh yeah, and the review was pretty great as well - I felt the same about the first Red Faction :[

In the Red Faction games, do you happen to play on the side of socialist forces? That's what I've read...
You happen to play on the side of a "Red Faction" whose symbol is deliberately close to the old hammer and scythe and whose stated aim is to free themselves from the (imperialist) yoke of the (capitalist) Earth oppressors.
So it's not technically about socialism, but it's deliberately working off the modern pop culture understanding of socialist revolution, probably because players 'get it' a lot quicker than if you had a Green Faction. Sometimes I dislike the parallels and it feels eery when every single non-EDF Martian colonist is secretly a member of the Red Faction. I'm not even joking. If you take a car the driver will say something like "Hurry Mason, I'll hold the EDF off." And any civilian might draw a previously invisible gun from their backs if you trip the 'wanted level' of the game.
So it's not socialist but it uses socialist trappings to get people on the same page - and to be a bit edgy.
That's alright. I'm a communist, so it's all good to me.

Ouch ouch ouch RF1 was a good game despite the random corridors that went down hill fast

...like halo(H2/RF2 watered down for noobs and had lulzy weapons like poorly done dual wielding, H3/RF3 is just a crappy lulz fest that's more fun online where they seemed to have bothered to develop it more...).

Yahtzee your becoming more mediocre shill by the month!

I actually liked the first 2 red faction games. This one sucks though. It's a blatant rip off of the Saints Row games.

Another great Zero Punctuation :D
Back to being a dick in games that wants you to be a hero :) As for the plot it sounds like this game doesn't have much to offer Oo

I wish someone had made Guerrilla warfare game. Crysis engine seems wasted without one :( If you combine the stealth and murder aspects of the first Riddick game(on it's first release) and then put that into the Crysis engine, I'd think that would be a satisfactory Guerrilla game. If it had a plot and you were a young counter-revolutionary/paramilitary/drug runner is South America somewhere, killing Federales with nothing more than cheap cigars and a tomohawk, I might even be impressed. But if you wore a red bandana it would be lame, because what kind of idiot intends stealth and dresses inappropriately. Oh wait, Far Cry 1.
