Well, Yahtzee was unexpectedly kind to this game. I'm also surprised he didn't spend most of the video comparing it to the other Walking Dead game in a side-by-side comparison, like he did with CoD:MW3 vs. Battlefield 3, and Infamous vs. Prototype.

captcha: points don't matter
especially true since yahtzee don't give 'em out

Really liked the Poe reference. "I'm going to brick it!"

Zombie: For the love of God, Yahtzee!
Yahtzee: Yes, for the love of God!
Zombie: RAHR! *swipeswipeswipe*

Now this was unexpected. What I'd heard about this game was that it was absolutely fucking awful, a disgraceful half-baked embarassment of a game that really had no right to exist; as soon as I saw Yahtzee was going to review it I said to myself "ooh this is gonna be ugly" and prepared myself for him to rip its tits off. I wasn't expecting him to actually appear to sort of LIKE it.

I don't think Yahtzee LIKED Survival Instinct so much as he appreciated what he felt they were trying to go for and might have done if they'd developed the game [much] more. Angry Joe pretty much had similar thoughts, but in a much more rage-filled package. Both acknowledged the many faults of the game, it's just that Yahtzee did so with a lot more calm than we're used to seeing from him. Remember, the only thing Yahtzee likes less than shit is 100% derivative shit. He does like to take a moment to point out potential even in a bad game.

This is odd, this is the first game I seen that the reviewers at large crucified a game while Yahtzee tolerated it.

Strange times we live in people.

Any zombie game after Left 4 Dead 2 seems kind of a futile effort. I don't mean this for the story or the random zombie spawn points, but because you can kill zombies by hitting them repeatedly with goddamn Gnome Chompski. Something that silly really sells me in such a moldy, threadbare old hat of "zombie" games.

I think people are misunderstanding here. Yahtzee didn't "like" the game. He felt that is was a unique experience compared to most triple A games coming out; like the new God of War.

From what I've seen, it seems like Yahtzee is right. Despite the less than stellar production values, this game really does seem quite interesting and tense.

well that was...unexpected. this is about as close to a shining review as yahtzee gets, and from what ive heard from some of the sources i trust most (angry joe and tb), its really bad combat, mixed with a bunch of interesting ideas that fail completely

While last week was a master piece this week around we got the worst zero punctuation ever. Not one joke and most of it was explaining the game.

well that certainly came as a surprise. but considering how he appreciates survival horror games with tense gameplay only made more difficult by frustrating controls, then this game might have a chance of rubbing him the right way

if anything because it's so short that he can get through it quickly with deadlines coming up :p

Yeah, this is pretty much how I viewed the video too. I mean, just because he didn't spent 6 minutes screaming "fuck this game" into the mic doesn't mean he liked it.

He had plenty of bad stuff to say about it, the graphics suck, the story sucks, the incentivizing sucks, the main character sucks, the ending sucks and the game is too short. He was just saying that he respected some of the games ideas and its ability to pull off a tense atmosphere compared to, say, RE or Dead Space, despite its budget (I'll ignore the fact that he still hasn't caught on that those games are no longer horror).

I actually wish he'd do more reviews like this, but then there goes a 1/3 of his fanbase I suppose.

Not Bioshock? Yahtzee, you charismatic stallion. Way to not jump on the bandwagon like every other freaking reviewer in existence. *clap**clap*
I must ask, did you actually watch the episode? It said a couple of times that he's doing it next week.

He just needs to think up some butt metaphors first.

So he is jumping on this bandwagon, just later than everyone else. Although I'm not sure how reviewing Bioshock Infinite would be particularly bad.
I did actually watch the episode, but unfortunately made that comment about Bioshock before I had gotten to that point in the video. He started off talking about God of War, and I had assumed that he would've mentioned Bioshock at the beginning, not near the end.

Kratos is already an angsty teenager. In fact I think that's his appeal, because the biggest God of War fans I know are part of that demographic.

The story of God of War 2 was essentially about an angry young man who gets brought into the home and granted his brother's old job by his estranged rich and powerful father. Instead of becoming happy and showing gratitude, he's disrespectful and gets into frequent fights with his gang of Spartan friends until his dad decides that enough is enough, fires him, and throws him out of the house. Kratos spends the rest of the series rebelling against his dad.

I know right with the way most people have reacted to this game I was expecting a absolute bloodbath.
>Yahtzee confirmed for banana

I'm really surprised that he didn't rip its spine out and eat it, although seeing as it was rushed it's not really fair to judge it. Calling it terrible because it's incomplete feels kind of wrong. Best to let these types of games slide off into the ether where they slowly disphixiate and die forgotten.
