I absolutely enjoy this game, but I do agree with the difficulty level changing so much. I'm honestly still stuck on that Diesel City race in Dollface's chapter. And the fastest car handles like a piece of shit.

Meh. Multiplayer is fun anyway. I have no shame. I got far.

Never quite understood the appeal of the Twisted Metal franchise. Maybe it's the disturbing clown character that is really unsettling...
me either, I never owned a playstation (before 3) so if there was any chance of me getting into the series this game would have been it.

Doesn't surprise me it's not the greatest, it didn't look very fun. Besides I've never been much of a 'car destruction' kind of guy

Calypso's alive? I thought he was killed in TM2. Unless this is a(nother) reboot. Is it a(nother) reboot?

Video quality seems to have taken a hit, unless it just hasn't finished processing yet.
Yes it is a reboot.

And, the 'ending' for this game, really, really sets up the possibility of another sequal to the ps3.

And since Yahtzee has never played the previous ones, nor even Touched upon the 1990s WISH MASTER refrences, we can forgive his ignorance on the 'dark' aspects of the game, its been that way since TM1.

Know all those rob zombie songs in the game? Yea, he had songs in every twisted metal game.. (I think he had some involvement in some of hte games as well, perhaps even in the directorial 'style'.. sweet tooth is really reminiscent of the 'house of a thousand corpses' killer clowns...

T3hSource,
There was a story in every game, even 2.
You just actually had to 'beat' the game as a specific car, all the way through to see it. Itussually involved a short cut scene with calypso granting said wish.

Wow, this actually sounds like fun. One of the few games I'v heard about and been interested in since fucking Bastion.
Too bad I don't own a PS3.

I've only played 3 and 4, and 3's a bit fuzzy while I still own 4. and here's the endings for 4
Oh I love the endings to be honest, even if they do get cheesy

He was literally a playable character in TM4. Though that game sucked.

Oh another fracking "use old name on new game" thing like Yahtzee said before "thats not confusing"....

And Twisted metal sounds like it should come with a 6 pack of beer or a voucher for free vodka bottle depending on where you live... ;)
But that might twist the targeted audience group somewhat...

Why have the last couple Zero Punctuations sounded as though they are rife with punctuation? Yahtzee's sounded terribly bored with reviewing Twisted Metal *and* Mass Effect 3, as though reviewing the games were interrupting his nap. Talk faster, man!

"What's good enough for the Catholic Church is good enough for you." That's so funny, because it's true.

I can't really tell if he enjoyed playing it...really all I know is that I should play the tutorial and not use a wide screen tv.

Game has a solid competitive multiplayer and a good alternative to the fps corridor shooting. Reason enough to get and the game is fairly balanced so long as your team knows how to take down talons.

So, basically it's a remake that happened solely to cash in on the newer PS3s' inability to play the older games someone might otherwise pick up from the used game shop? That's the impression I got from the video.

was the hi res version of the video very aliased/jagged for anyone else?
I don't know what you mean by "hi res", but the regular video that I as a non-subscriber watch looked very poorly upscaled from a lower resolution, yeah.

Near the video's end I was thinking "Wait... he's lamenting on the game's unnecessarily limiting the audience??"

By the end of it, I was thinking "Yeah.. there we go!"

Personally I like the idea/atmosphere of Twisted Metal, even if I'm pants at it. I just had to prioritize games so I haven't picked this one up yet, though I probably will eventually.

I honestly do not think killing children is a big deal (in a game), and indeed it's good in a game going for a sort of horroric atmosphere not pulling the punches. I tend to see "Twisted Metal" as being a sort of 80s horror movie thematically, more than really a child of the 90s where they started to chill out. Though truthfully I still think they pull more punches than they should... of course that's somewhat justified simply by the fact that you can only get so detailed and graphic from a vehicular point of view.

As far as Clown-O-Phobia goes, I don't have it, but know a person who does. Personally to me I think the problem with clowns is the whole "trying too hard" thing. It comes from getting too close a form of entertainment that seems like it's best enjoyed from a distance at say a circus or whatever. In general when your looking at a clown and can see them clearly as a person, and an entertainer who is overacting and trying to be funny/nice-nice in that kind of outfit the deception/act can come accross as kind of creepy. It's easy to insert malevolent motives behind the outward appearance. I also suspect this is why killer clowns make such a great movie trope, something that is appealing from a distance (I have enjoyed a number of shows by troupes of clowns) that can have the opposite effect when looked at closely.

That said, I do think that there are clowns who deserve a bit more respect, it's an art form, and takes a lot of work to do at a high level. The guy who just wears the costume at birthday parties is a bit differant from the guy who performs at say a circus, carnival, or other show who has in many cases had to master all kinds of tumbling, acrobatics, and other things to perform all those silly seeming moves without killing themself, especially in coordination with other people. I've read some stuff about it.

And I thought I was the only one who has a fear of clowns.
Actually many many people are afflicted with Bozophobia. It's a hard life to live, especially when your kids love McDonalds.
I wonder how the original designers failed so miserably to create an appearance that was amusing and comical.

There's something I've never thought of....the first clowns....off to wikipedia.
