You guys know Yahtzee was joking when he called console users dirty peasants in his Witcher review right. There is nothing wrong with console games and there is really nothing about them that ruins PC gaming. PC games tend to have more complex controls but that doesn't make them any better than a console version. And yes, a current gen console is about the cost of a low end PC, but the power and lifespan of that console is much longer, that's the trade off.
just because Yahtzee MAY have been joking doesnt mean i am. i dont especialy want to get into a "your a consol retard/your a PC retard" debate. there isnt anything wrong with consols for alot of people. they are basicaly idiot proof and when it comes to electronics thats very importiant, anything that requires a moments thought or the ability to read instructions is bad when it comes to a mass market of any kind so consols are the answer to that. and despite my comments perhaps sounding snide they really arent ment to be, lifes pretty short and i can see how casual gamers wouldnt want to learn how to build or keep up with a PC in order to enjoy a game. its much better to just over pay for a system thats out of date (hardware wise) usualy the day it ships, and can only play games. its worth $600 to some people to only have to pop in a DVD and play. i on the other hand want some bang for my buck besides selecting between (or even all of) 5 'must have' titles that are just repeats of the last consols 'must have' titles only with a new gun that shoots lemons.

guess what im saying is that when i exit a game on my PC i get to do other things with it, like come here and laugh at consol players for one 8D

anyhow no one answered my question, was this a 'looked for' title for the PS3? was this one of the "franchise games" that are allways talked about that make people want to go spend $600 for consol just to play?
In answer to your question, yes, this game was meant to be a console seller. Though even I would say it's not worth buying the console for and I played this game to death. In terms of your arguement about having a console just to play a few killer apps, well, that can easily be said for PC given how few major releases come each year, but I do respect your choice of platform.

=============================

Zippy I agree that more crap games are put out on consoles, but if more people played on PC's they'd probably end up there more often. It's all about getting your product out to the most people, in most cases at least. And consoles do have their fair share of complex titles like MGS. No matter what platform you play on though not every game can be a Deus Ex or a Metal Gear, you may be able to argue though that since less games are coming out on PC now that PC games have a higer proportion of good games to crummy games.

Is liberal fascism even possible?
Seems to me comment number increases based on the games popularity. Hence Halo 3 has 4 Million Comments, and this has fewer.
Also we're talking about a 12 hour time frame here. I'm sure it'll hit 200 just like every other review has by this time next week.

Yahtzee doesn't seem particularly left winged to me. Perhaps he's more left winged than right, but so are a lot of people. Commenting that you kill black people all game long as a white person is hardly the main goal of the leftist agenda -- I'm pretty sure O'Reilly could see the same point.

And for someone outside of the US, I'm not taken aback when they criticize the US in some way. No one should expect people of other countries to love their country as much as they do, and especially not when we've had the attitude of, "We don't give a shit about what you think," for the past 8 years. Maybe after China becomes the new world Super Power Australians and Americans can join hands in making sneering comments about the Asian Imperialists.

As far as, "This is the First ZP I haven't laughed at," is concerned, I think that they've actually all been very consistent, and fresh. It's just hard to recapture the brutal awesomeness of, say, the BioShock review -- but there's really nothing wrong with that.

I tune into ZP every week more for witty insight into gaming. Yappy Plastic Dogs, point and click sniper adventure gaming...

I saw a bit of the game played, and I see what he means. I'm not too worried that it didn't push the envelope because not every game needs to. He's being a bit hypocritical, through the fact that he absolutely loved COD4, which revolutionized...what, exactly?

You could say Uncharted basically improved on all the games included in that mashup diagram; it added more free movement to Gears of War, it put better combat in Prince of Persia, and it ran far better than Far Cry.

there is no case to be made that a console is even in the same arena with a PC when it comes to the ammount of 'killer apps' that can be done.

console's get games, and movies thats it, 2 'killer apps' (well if you own a PS3 anyhow if you own a 360 or a WII yur screwed), PC gets games, movies, porn, taxes, E-mail, demos, business apps, sound and video connections (not to mention texting apps), and about a gazillion other things that console's dont. standing a console up against a PC is like straping bottle rockets on a Duck and sending it up against an F-22.

sarcasim aside you really cant compair the two. though they both share games and movies as 'apps' they are two totaly different animals. console's are ment for simple ease of use a PC is anything but. and i dont mean that as an insult to console tards either.

trust me when im trying to get my new Video card to work right with the latest craptastic drivers that have more bugs than a dog ass, or i get a BSOD for no reason, or when i DO buy a game only to find out that it wasnt actualy finished yet but not to worry because there will be 47 patches over the next 8 months that will eventualy fix it (or go the other way and dont patch at all and clame everything in the game that doesnt work was intended to do nothing from the start) i look at consoles as not being all that bad.

in fact, I seriously doubt that there is ANYTHING funny enough to warrant a person to laugh hard
that's... kind of... sad.

Not saying that as an argument against that statement, just saying it has sad implications, if one takes it to be true...

Anyway, it was indeed cool to see the face in video, while talking, but my brain still refuses to associate the face with the voice! weird.

I enjoyed this review, as I have all ZP reviews.

I've seen reviews of Drake's Fortune on Play Digital, and Good Game (It is Australia's ONLY game show...On TV) and they more or less gave it a great review, this is why I watch ZP, Because it shows us things the other review shows won't show us... And making it funny.

But on to why I made an Account to post.

Yahtzee = Hot.
Poor little non Australian people wanting Yahtzee... While I Live in Australia, and better still Visit the city he is in mostly every week.
In short, Yahtzee, Call me. ;)

P.S. Remind me to hurt you for making me read everything in super fast motion like the way you talk... but that could also be the Gilmore Girls.

great work mr. B."Y".C.

i didnt laugh like a retard at this one, but it was an exquisite review none the less.

keep up the good work.

*Edit*

I wanted to add that the realistic wet shirt is important to me also. From what I've heard, water effects can be particularly hard to pull of in a realistic manner. So a shirt that looks as if it has gotten wet just like it would in the real world is something that I think helps a game. Considering what you've said though, perhaps they should have spent more time on the game play, instead of ironing out the wet t-shirt of the main character.

I loved this review, namely the return of mass visual puns like in Bioshock review, only faster.

Glad I pressed that X button!

I will agree for the most part, but only because they try and take the time to put polish on them if console mkaers did that instead of launching titles before they are finished to boost their stock*coughbioshockcough*the console amrket would have a steady supply of non crappy titles..

I am waiting for gaming to get back to gaming and not corporate cck scking, play with the ball's by all means but not with the consumer.....

Wyatt
He means in trems of indavendaul games, even so the 360 has 3 or 4 games that are not on PC 1 is halo the rest are forgettable the PC trumps the 360 in everything but making MS mad money.

With lunix on the PS3 it can open a few doors...but its too soon to say if sony wont get all sue happy on modders yet.

I hope within 3 years the PS3 community can make a cheat system off the lunix side to inject code into games if no company will bother making a cheat device for it, I can't stand crappy and mediocre titles anymore...
If I get a PS3 I wont be taking it online....

Whilst it was an awesome review, I'm more interested in knowing if there were bloopers, like Yahtzee getting hit on the head with the bottle...

"Ach! You did that on purpose, you cock!"

I wonder how often he messes a line up (If ever) and ends up getting tongue tied.. (One can dream..)

As to Uncharted, it ripping off the movies and games all listed was probably the intention. Sort of a parody, homage, nod-towards, reference & blatant rehash from all of those sources.

He made quite a few comments that I made in my review so its interesting to know that we see games in a fairly similair way.

Pirates of the Burning Sea has a pretty big Australian community. Any thought of reviewing it? Also consider Audiosurf. $10 steam download. Worth looking at.

For me at least it wasn't so much "everyone ethnic is evil" as "Everyone who speaks with a non-american accent is evil." It's a common technique used for the subconscious barrier we erect between People Who Do Sound like Us, and People who Don't Sound Like Us.

I am sad I didn't get to kill the Brit though, mostly because I enjoyed the game and I enjoyed that character and I will forever maintain that Brits make the best villains. I don't know what it is, but their attitude of superiority makes them well-cut-out for a life of villainy I guess.

If there are any Brits out there reading this, know I mean that in the best possible way. Really.

Half of the features you listed for the PC could be available on a budget PC. The cost of upgrading that same budget PC to a gaming PC is, most likely, more expensive even than the PS3. I'm a PC gamer myself, but I didn't like your reasoning or your lazy duck analogy.
