This whole thing is almost territorial. On the CAD forums they're all defending the comic, on here we're all giving Yahtzee virtual pats on the back, but none of the CAD defenders dare say anything on here for the sake of their own sanity :p

Ah yes, good old CAD. Tim Fuckley may as well be doing a sprite strip;

(the official emoticon for CAD characters is B^U by the way)

And lets see what happened when he tried to draw perspective in one panel; http://www.ctrlaltdel-online.com/comic.php?d=20080623

Oh dear.

I don't understand how anyone can say Buckley is mature. Whenever he receives criticism he just plugs his fingers in his ears and goes lalalalala and bans you. Ethan in his comic is just what he wishes life could actually be like in a way. He imagines himself as the savior of gaming and a hero. If you don't believe it, check it the wintereenmas tangants, they're totally ego trips.

I found that most of his comics about games are actually the least funny and those pertaining to plot other than video games are the most. He just wishes he were as successful as Penny Arcade but could never verbaly say so. He doesn't acknowledge attacks on him simply because ignoring them is the best way to get rid of them. For instance he never mentioned: http://vgcats.com/cadaprilfools/

Penny Arcade fans probably don't care about this movie, even if it attacked their favorite comic ruthlessly because they know that they enjoy the comic, and yahtzee or any other fanboy isn't going to make them cry. It is analogous to a previous yahtzee video (mail call) where people defended the dreamcast because if they didn't then they would be wrong. I personally loved Penny Arcade and wouldn't miss a strip. Granted sometimes I don't get the comic because I haven't played the game in question but the majority of the time I get it and it's always hilarious.

When reading CAD I just simply stopped because I realized I wasn't laughing when I read them and the only thing that kept me reading them was habit with nothing to do on the interweb.

Naturally Concerned is also brilliant.

I'd have to thoroughly disagree with ya. I enjoy the CAD comics, but I think Tim is seriously immature. His entire news rant when he posted the miscarriage story is a good case in point. His comic is sorta funny at times and is something to do for 30secs when completely bored, but he has a lot of growing up to do.

That seems more like him trying to stop people ranting.

I don't know what to say about the fact that so many people here hate CAD: that all comes down to personal opinion, I suppose. But consider this: if you really want nothing more than shallow, random humor with no creativity or meaning to be found, just keep watching Napoleon Dynamite and catch all the Spongebob reruns you can, lest you get sick from overexposure to intelligence.
It is one thing to make a serious webcomic. There are several out there and some of them are actually quite brilliant. It is however a idiots stunt to suddenly switch your shallow, random humor comic into rape-mode. Especially in the style of "Oh my fiancee had a miscarriage, probably the worst thing that can happen to a woman. And instead of visiting her I pity myself cause I now have to play Halo with my robot again instead of my baby"
Did you read it, or are you just going off what Yahtzee said? The first thing he did was visit her, then he was at home while she wanted to be at her mother's house, away from it all. THAT'S when Ethan was playing video games, but with Lucas, his friend who was trying to cheer him up: he never just retreated to the robot, leaving his fiancee alone. Try reading it if you want to bash it.

All I'm saying is that this entire video was obviously made for the sole reason of bashing CAD, when all this proves is what I said earlier: some people would rather have random humor than intelligent literature (or whatever you call the art of comics... comiciture... I don't know).

Except the handful who already have, right?

And seriously, Yahtzee's a bit of an elitist. We all know this. When he targeted JRPGs. I like 'em, sure, but I can certainly see his points against them. He may do it in a bitchy way, but he does try to explain why his reasons for disliking something are valid. And, as he said in the mailbag special, if you personally like something, a critic attacking it really shouldn't get to you.

My two cents.

This outlines every reason I only read one gaming webcomic, and that is Order of the Stick. While OOTS may not be the most well drawn webcomic those characters are amazingly expressive creatures, which most web comics fail at, out right, even if they have better art.

Well I got a few good chuckles from it but the jokes kinda just wrote themselves.

I was expecting the whole episode, especially during the drama segment, for Yahtzee to bring up the fact that B^uckley e-mailed his dick to a 14 year old girl, it would have really drove the final nail in the coffin and leaving an open coffin is not something Yahtzee is known for.

Now I'm just being overly critical. I watch too much of that guy.

And the point of that rant directed at me was...?

Anyone else think that Buckley is going to retaliate in his comic? I sure hope so.

Wait; what?
Have you ever seen Tim attack Yahtzee?
I need to second this, as Yahtzee has indeed publicly announced his dislike of CAD in the past and I have yet to see Buckley retaliate.
This doesn't exactly make him mature. I think he wants to put on a facade of maturity in this way by not directly attacking his more popular detractors. But it's a well-known fact that anyone who criticizes his comic on his forums, even constructively, is lashed out at and often banned. He's not exactly mature.

Do you have any evidence Tim did that?
