You can still be scared at a horror game without having the utmost immersion. Anyway, you'll probably be able to use the "normal" controller to make this game exactly like any other bloody zombie game. And still, you haven't used it, I haven't used it. We're basing these opinions on pre-judgments, when we should just wait for it to come out and try it out.

You don't need to. It's the same reason the Wii remote fails as Kinect fails as Move fails. Peripheral gimmicks are a fad and it's utterly foolish to think, "fourth time lucky!".

Nintendo is so popular because they innovate. Think, if Nintendo just releases an Xbox but with Mario on it would people buy it? It looks quite interesting, and definitely seems like it would keep the anxiety up there seeing how you have to look down at the pad to complete code locks and keep an eye on any zombies that might be coming along. The zooming doesn't look like it would be that great of an idea, but I'll wait until I use it first. But the entire alternating things seems like it would bring more immersion, because you are having to focus on what you are doing at hand, and trying to focus on your surroundings, but you can't do both really well at the same time on a handheld/TV like you can if all of it was located on the TV.

The problem i have is that the Wii-U essentially has a "Look away from the screen now!" feature. This isn't exactly on the bleeding edge of horror gaming either, we're not exactly playing Amnesia here. Neither can i see it having the creeping unsettling effect of something like STALKER.

Zombie-U is a zombie themed tech-demo for a hardware scheme that, once again, places a barrier to player input. The only reason Zombie-U looks any good is because our expectations have gone so low for a game with a Nintendo console in the title. The suffix/prefiz has changed from X-Wii/ Wii-X to X-U.

... or I just like the look of the game? Seriously, the amount of Nintendo hate on this site is unbelievable. I don't like the look of the game because my bar is so low that I expect only shit from Nintendo consoles, I like the look of the game BECAUSE I LIKE THE LOOK OF THE GAME! How hard is that to understand?

And how does a controller with every single button that the current Xbox and PS3 controllers have place a barrier to player input? It even adds the versatility of a touch screen to it. But really, it actually improves immersion. I'm pretty sure there will be an option to turn off the hud in the actual game, so that's gone. Then there's the fact that everything happens in real time whilst you have to look at something else. In real life the whole world doesn't pause if you want to take out something from your backpack or type something on a keypad, no it goes on and whatever danger happening around you can still get you. By having to look at a different actual thing it increases tension because you won't be able to see both screens at once, you won't know if a zombie's behind you until it grabs you.

Sorry I meant to say "Pretty much the same people", but I don't really think that would make for a retort. But the thing with the great games that Ubi Montepellier has made is that they weren't trying to showcase grand new hardware. They were working with comparitavely standard tech.

And those games weren't made from the will of Ubisoft being determined to get in on the exclusives early. Those were games made with the intention (IMO) of simply being good, not because the suits wanted in on a new playground early.

Maybe I'm just cynical as a result of Red Steel, but exclusives made for the express purpose of showcasing a new console rings alarm bells as a rushed out cash cow. But yeah, I guess it has a higher chance of being good because of a descent team behind it, that still doesn't sell me.

Perhaps wait for more games to come out. There's already quite a few launch exclusives that are looking quite good. For example Rayman: Legends looks like an improvement on the already amazing Origins, and Pikmin 3 just looks awesome. And you'll be able to get a lot of other multiplatform games that the Wii just didn't have, and with improvements. For example Mass Effect 3 on the Wii U will run at 1080p and 60fps instead of 720p at 30fps because of the better hardware.
