I have to ask: are they really doing so well that they can continue to advertise everywhere?

I can't get away from these advertisements. Myspace, Project Playlist, and seemingly everywhere else I've gone; they're almost on a one-for-one ratio with WoW Trial Account ads.

Is this an appeal to the narcissism of my generation, where kids and teens feel a disturbingly prevalent compulsion to plaster their faces (or the rough cartoon equivalent of such) all over everything?

I'm sure we've all seen ads for this at one time or another; what's your take?

I can't stand them personally. Like you said, They are EVERYWHERE. Is there some sort of appeal to these that I'm not getting?

Oh god this. Every website I go to this poor excuse of a game is advertised. Its a social game network MEANT for 47 year old pedophiles to act like 12 year old girls.

Its seems pretty creepy to start cartoonifying yourself. But maybe its a good way of connecting with other people who like anime a stuff, if a little odd.

They are annoying as hell. I don't think I've seen too many of them lately.

Anyways, the ads that say stuff at you if you accidentally hover your cursor over them are even worse. Especially when you're watching a movie of some sort on a streaming website.
By Zeus, those are the worst.
There should be a special room set aside in hell for the chick that did the condescending, snarky, immutable "congratulations, you've won a free Nintendo Wii/iPod Nano". When I'm listening to a playlist and I hear that *****'s snotty voice talking over my music, my blood pressure spikes to unsafe levels.

That's a good question how do they advertise so much because I know no one that has one or even though of one interesting.

Ugh, they really are everywhere. Irritating does not begin to describe it. Especially the ones that move. I'd like to make a proposal! No more moving banner ads! Ever! No flashing, no zooming in on different misshapen bits of an anime chick, just no more. I want to read or watch something, and I have never clicked on an ad that moved. About the only ads I ever click on are full of text, and written in a casual tone. Something about them hooks me...

Although Zwinky still isn't as annoying as imvu.

I was seriously considering adding imvu to the original post, but I didn't feel like clicking around until I found a banner ad screenshot.

Strangely I haven't seen these ads anywhere 0.o - perhaps because I don't browse around a lot these days, just go to sites that I know will entertain me.
