Yes... let's listen to the man with no originality whatsoever. Let's hope that his form of logic doesn't lead Facebook to an ***raping lawsuit the likes of which has never before been seen in any country's judicial system. Let's consider the fact that even his Farmville is close enough to get a lawsuit going for that, it's just the other company can't afford to sue.

Oh! And let's not forget his illegal business practices. No sir, we should definitely listen to the guy that can get us heavy jail time.

Non-Rant: Hit the road, Pincus... and don't you come back no more.

If it weren't for the apps I'd probably still be blissfully ignorant of Facebook. There are a few apps I like, mainly the ones like Evony (Kingdoms of Camelot and Lords Online), and I play Castle Age. I mainly play them while watching TV or any time I just feel like killing a few minutes.

Honestly, if you think pwning newbs is Modern Warfare has any more of a point to it than spending 100 energy in Mobsters you're retarded. Unless a war breaks out in your hometown and you need to grab a gun and defend yourself you're not learning any real skills. At least in Mobsters you learn how to manage finite resources to achieve a goal.

At any rate, it sounds like Facebook wants to start charging a monthly fee for access in a month or two, in which case most of the membership is probably going to bail and all this Zynga nonsense is going to blow over.

having my profile deleted ages ago, i just can say "Way to go pincus"...I really couldn't care less if this pseudo-social-failure goes down. But maybe its just me being annoyed of meaningless friendlist-horders and the fact that communication with real friends is done via quakenet...

...Yeah i know IRC is a bit like stoneage...but it gets the job perfectly done.

OT: Making facebook a gaming platform defeats the purpose of social-networking (which i think is shallow anyways), as many above have stated. But i honestly don't think Facebook is stupid enough to do that, cause if you read the comments here i.e. their "core" users would go on a rampage then..

PS.: Who the hell is giving someone like Pincus such a forum? I could hardly call Zynga a game developer nor do they have ANY clever game project running. I think i'll just ignore them....

Wow, y'know, I'm starting to think this guy's just trying to out dick Activision. Facebook wasn't designed for games, Live was. Facebook was for social interaction, and Live is for a bunch of underaged kids playing M-rated games so they can cuss out other people.

So, how about Pincus just goes and puts his games on Xbox Live, the already establish platform he'd love to mimic. Oh, that's right, because everything he's ever made is pure excrement and wouldn't do crap on an actual gaming platform. I wonder if he realizes that the second facebook did this, everyone would drop it faster then he could say, "Where did all my money making sheeple go?"

why all the haters??
ok zynga products are annoying and forces themself on non users.
but mr Pincus is still a great entrepreneur, he came from nowhere whit no money or no business experience and made zynga a successful company in a few years.

of course he looks after his own intrests, that´s how you survive in the monetary system.

Well, this guy can join Steve Jobs in the loony bin for people who think their devices/platforms are things they are not. First the iPhone is a gaming platform, now Facebook is a gaming platform... Do any of these people have a grip on sanity? What's next, claiming that toilets are gaming platforms because some people play games while sitting on them? For ****s sake!

Just to make my position clear: I think Facebook is just as much a gaming platform as the iPhone is, which is to say neither of them are gaming platforms at all.

As everyone has expressed before me, this man shows a bright future in dethroning Kotick as "Biggest RL-Troll not born of 4chan".

Honestly, I have nothing against the company's games (Even though they are COMPLETE rip-offs of smaller games), but this guy... This one guy... He's like the reason and explanation as to how Bill Lumbergh could be a VP in Office Space. He makes money from the clueless and addicted, all the while just bashing it's customers and the designers of the industy in general.

Seriously, I havn't nerd raged this hard since the 16bit Wars.

I already hate Facebook enough as it is. The last thing I need is this jerk persuading them to orientate it entirely around games so my news feed serves up a constant buffet of shite. "Mary-Lou has found a walrus in need of a hysterectomy on her apricot patch! Can you help?"

This sounds a lot like what happened to MySpace. It got fancier and fancier, moving farther and farther away from social networking, and then died. I used to like Facebook for being simple, yet with every update they move away from that. If it becomes a game platform, I'm done.

What about all the 15-20 year olds shouting curses and racial slurs? We can't be seen to discriminate here....

I hardly use apps anymore. I don't like knowing that several third party app creatures can access my personal information. I just use Facebook for my social life and even then I hardly use it.

Ultimately, Facebook was designed to communicate with friends. And it should remain that way, not turn into another Newgrounds clone.

While true. I didn't encounter 15-20 yr olds.
