Looks like Jason Pominville will never be able to release that game detailing his lifestory on Facebook now.

Someone made a comment about God of War and Gears of War. That's retarded.
I guess it didn't cross your mind that they were joking, people with a sense of humor tend to do that.

OT: I could care less who owns the rights. As far as I'm concerned anything related to farmville and it's creators in anyway are flat out evil.

*pfft* Ok, whatever makes you happy Zynga. I do anticipate all my co-workers talking about the "-villes" when they do make them, and being incredibly annoying about it.

Now that I think about it, it's like some sort of mind contr- oh shit!

Much as a trademark suit these days is petty and self-serving, anything that's called Blingville should be arrested, shot, dragged into the street, ran over, and shot again for good measure.

It's not quite as stupid as it seems. I think 'ville' (when used in a game title) is almost synonymous with Zynga now, so they have a good chance of winning this (especially since BlingVille is a rip-off anyway).

Anyway, would be a bad precedent to set for Minecraft.
Blizzard had better watch out! Never again will they blantantly rip off a well-known title.

That's why Simsville got cancelled then? What a shame.
BTW, what about -Tycoon games? Who sues who?
And does the Dwarf Fortress developer get sued by Valve now?

The City of Townsville
This is exactly what I thought of. Announcer voice and all. Best "Ville" of them all IMHO.

Be right back, trademarking every word in the dictionary just in case I want to use it in a product.

Well I kinda expected this. Though this wouldn't be the first time that a company has copied from Zynga. I guess it's just a strange facet of the gaming industry in general. Though the whole "Ville" thing, I can kinda see where Zynga is coming from. Considering that many of their social games end with such a suffix. It is something that many people have come to expect, that a Zynga game will be a ville type game. Though I guess we will see where this is gonna go.

Tim Langdell was/is a prick and Zynga is a kennel of pricks.

One cannot own a word (or in this case, a freaking suffix), because that would restrict everyone else's freedom of speech. For example, I own the word "the." Now, whenever anyone wants to use the word "the" in anything, they'll have to pay me. Otherwise, I'll sue them for all they're worth.

I- ..Blingville?!

Zynga, the premises of that game from this just looks to piss me off in more ways than one, so I am going to just leave this clone alone.
Trolling? The BlingVille thng? I'm honestly serious that I think its just a trolling attempt.

This isn't Zynga's first dispute over the title of one of its games but in the past it's been more of an infringer than an infringee. The company sued in August 2010 [http://techcrunch.com/2009/09/13/zynga-settles-mob-wars-litigation-as-it-settles-in-to-playdom-war/] by Digital Chocolate, which released a mobile game called Mafia Wars in 2004.
And right about here is where they lost my sympathy and their credibility.

They can't go and claim the suffix, "Ville." It means town, for Heaven's sake! That's like copyrighting, "-Berg," or "-Ton."
