Damn... another game maker has gone to the dark side...
except, he started in the dark side...

this is the perfect example of people that only care about numbers instead of their consumers or their product.

Isn't Farmville Harvest Moon without the charm? I can pick up one of those games for pennies on the dime so I think I'll stick to that. Not so much because they're more original but because Zynga openly despises their customers. That's not how you do business, guys.
The harvest moon series rules so damn hard. Charming enough to make me do digital farmwork for fun. A nice break from the action and racing games I frequent.

More sinister than I might expect? I already thought they ate souls!

OT: I'm not that surprised. Farmville was terrible when I played it, and it really wasnt all that Intuitive.

To be honest, the creepy ass cut-out behind the guy should tell you they're evil. The girl looks like she's learnt how to weaponise corn.

The overall article is pretty unsettling. Until recently, I was under the impression that Zynga was a plucky underdog that had gotten lucky and hit a goldmine thanks to its casual games. Now, I'm just glad I never played any of their games nor gave any of my money to someone like Pincus.

That's either the best use of sarcasm I've seen in a post or you never read anything about how the CEO flat out admitted to using scams to suck money out of people via games like farmville in order to turn a profit.

Zynga is the scum of the gaming industry and I sincerly hope they get their comeupens(spell check inc) in the end.

Zynga doesn't deserve any of their success.

But I know how to stop them.

Shut down every other gaming company on earth, so that they don't have ideas to steal!
This sounds like a great idea with no potential drawbacks for me as a gamer. Lets do this! Bobby already started with infinity ward and that was a big one.

Wow.. Now Bobby Kotick don't seem that bad.. I mean, i knew they were evil, but this was more than I had imagined.

Glad i boycotted(?) Zynga long ago, those guys aren't getting a dime from me!

Here we go again repeat after me "Four legs good, two legs bad". Its a business what did you except? I suggest you look up Thomas Edison and examine his business practices, which included bribery, copyright violations and forming a monopoly over movies in the US. Zynga are just following a tried, and tested successful path.

Clearly the director chap in the picture has an evil face.

OT: I never have or will ever play a Zynga game. They're pointless timesinks designed to rob people of money and the will to live. Frankly, I have a WoW account for that.

The Escapist has already done articles painting Zynga in a pretty negative light from nearly the very beginning. We also had a substantial issue during the last "March Madness" where a lot of casual gamers flooded the site to vote for Zynga (or so it seemed, it could have been a stunt by someone loading the poll, sort of like how Gabe Newell and Moot have won polls due to such intervention). This caused quite a stir as there was a rally among those on this site to see them outvoted/defeated.

I think the only way I could find zynga more sinister would be if it came out that Pincus was infact Darth Kotick's son.

I find it sad really to see how well they do given their "tactics", but then there ya go thats usualy how it goes in life.

Jeez, how do people not know that Zynga engages in what would pass for copyright infringement if it weren't for the fact the Chinese don't have much in the way of copyright. It strikes me as pretty ridiculous that The Escapist, which regularly denounces pirates for their heinous acts, spent <link=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/features/issue/264>nearly a whole issue praising Zynga. Apparently it's perfectly fine to steal from others as long as you're making a profit.

No company leader that wanted to last long term would ever say that. It's financial suicide.
