This is worse than Bathseda suing Mojang. At least their arguement can stand up in court. (And at least it's actually happening)

For this I award two double facepalms for everyone who fell for this. Including myself. Good job OP.

Farm Town would like a word.

EDIT after looking at source: Well played. My first comment still stands on its own though.

that's bull.

Zynga can go to hell.
They're suing over a capital letter placement, and THAT'S what you object to?

Also, I'm relatively sure that the Smallville series generated more profits in a year than any of Zynga's shitty games.

And how dare they insinuate that they're bigger than DC? DC comics, for fuck's sake!

Zynga is suing someone over the name? Ok, that I understand.
Zynga claiming that they: "...has spent years on researching and developing innovative and original games. It's very unfortunate when other studios try to leech off our efforts. We must bring an end to these endeavors.""

Is probably the biggest lie I've read to date. I cannot think of a single Zynga game that's even remotely original.

This whole issue smacks of stupidity. I can already see Zynga's next game SueVille, where you compete against your friends in an endless cycle of frivolous litigation until you get bored and Zynga introduces Sueville 2
That's just satirical genius.
Thanks for the laugh.

Lauren Faust should sue Zynga. I mean, she came up with Townsville first and then Citysville for the PowerPuff Girls. They're obviously infringing on her trademark.

Zynga has spent years on researching and developing innovative and original games.
Yeah, no. I don't know whether I should facepalm, burst out into laughter or glare condescendingly.

This is stupid. It's a lot like the Mojang vs. Bethesda thing, although I can kind of see where Zynga is coming from. Wasn't it spelt "Smallville" with a lower-case "v"? Why would people need to go to court for this anyway? IT'S ONE LETTER, DC! Why can't you change it instead of spending a massive amount of time and money on lawyers?

Look I really hate Zynga I mean I really do but they do have a small point with the name and their argument is not totally moot. Smallville is spelt like this and not with a capital V and this is where the problem arises as all Zynga games have the suffix Ville which like it or not is their trademark and it seems to me that DC is infringing slightly.

Although I did really laugh at the whole innovation thing and if they really are serious and truly believe that lie well then the stupidity of that statement does something like this.

The only innovation they really added was spamming invites and gift messages to your friends which is hardly something that I would encourage.

lol at the source though. This image is needed in relation to the source.

Gotta love the Escapist sometimes. We need more of this when trolls used to be good.

Y'know, it'd be nice if your source actually existed. And wasn't just a link to a stupid Japanese music video, thus leading me to question the validity of the entire statement. Even copy/pasting the URL only sends me to the Comic Alliance homepage.

EDIT: On the other hand, it's always nice to see a thread get three pages of responses with only apparently one other person actually looking at the source.

Let's think about the case the other way round. Zynga comes out with a game called SmallVille. Same result. DC would sue for sure.

I think Zynga's case does actually have so--

Waaaaaaiiit a minute. Wait just a cotton-pickin' minute here.

[HEADING=1]WE DUN BEEN TROLLED Y'ALL[/HEADING]

You ALMOST had me, OP, but I'll give it to you anyway.

My god... The 57th post? 55 people didn't bother to check the source? Good show OP, good show.

For what it's worth, if this hypothetical situation were real, I'd probably be on Zynga's side.

You know what gets me about this? Zynga is notoriously bad about finding companies that have good ideas, making clones of their games, and then using that "good will and brand recognition" they talk about here to completely outsell the people who originally came up with the idea. Even FarmVille was a clone of a game called Farm Town. They really don't have room to talk here.

That said, their demand isn't as ridiculous as it sounds; The branding on Smallville has always involved a lower case V. Changing it to a capital letter would sound like a move on DC's part to create some brand confusion with Zynga's games. Asking them to drop the capital V is not an unreasonable request.

Edit: And I just realized this was a troll post. Well freakin' played, OP.

I can't be the only one to find this hilarious. The leading purveyors of time-passing games just picked a fight with one of the central pushers of nerdity? Someone yell Cripple Fight and get a camera, this shit's about to get youtube worthy

Wait, so its a complaint about a game name that zynga dont even have?
Well thats just downright petty, especially as DC smallvilles probably older than any member of zynga, let alone the company...
Does this mean no one can make a game that ends in ville with zynga trying to sue them?
