I mean you guys do have Vaush to represent your brand of irrational hypocrisy and being a general asshole. Not sure why you think you have the high ground here.
I would be extremely surprised if Crimson had ever watched Vaush out of something other than morbid curiosity or spite. I’ve never seen anything of his in my life.

MPs from all parties are sharply criticising the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson for just going along with the US exit strategy.

It's no secret that I'm very left wing and I have never seen Vaush say or do anything that makes me think his content is worth engaging with.

I do wonder how much of it is PR vs. the country becoming "Saudi Arabia, but poor"
Saudi Arabia is (incredibly enough) a significant step up on the pre-2001 Taliban, so even if 2021 onwards Afghanistan is a poor Saudi Arabia, it's some progress.

Anyways, this is what the Taliban were up against, mostly, so it's no wonder they've taken so much of the territory so quickly:
I'm not surprised. I think a lot of Westerners don't get that perhaps other places don't really view their country the same way, lack that same concept of loyalty to the nation. Their bonds are instead family, clan, etc. A national army therefore means little to them. They'll defend their village, clan, whatever, because that what means something to them. The national army is just a means to get paid. Once they're required to some actual fighting, it's time to drop that M16, go home and find another job.

Also, I've heard that they weren't even being paid for awhile. The corrupt puppet regime had little sense of self-preservation. And why should it have, if you can just take the money and run?

The fact that their is a chance another civil war will start because people don't want the country to be represented by the Taliban flag but the Taliban is too stubborn to back off would be a very weird things reading history book.

And this is but one of his goofs so far. (Watch the full thing)
So for those who don't want to watch the video or just in case anyone doesn't watch it fully and goes "Oh what's wrong with him he's being reasonable and supporting women. I said watch the full thing for a reason as in 10 seconds he flips from "Sexual violence is a huge problem women suffer so much the 1 in 4 is probably overstating it and 1 in 3 or 1 on 2 is more accurate, right to "This ***** is lying and a racist"(Paraphrased) because she said her attacker was of a certain ethnicity and religious background (Hint he wasn't white or Christian)

It's a bad thing if you rely on other countries for your own defense. Traditionally the U.S. has taken over the role of protecting Europe since the end of WW2 but they have made it more than obvious they are no longer willing to carry that burden and made repeated urges for European countries to increase their military budget to 2% GDP(combined healthcare/social service would still be 30 times more than that).
Meh.

During most of the cold war those European countries did invest a lot into their defense, typically going beyond 2%. Afterward they stopped because they didn't feel threatened anymore. But at the same time they did not particularly feel like they needed US protection. From Whom ?

Terrorist are a lot like Natural Disasters. Nobody thinks they need disaster insurance until a disaster happens, then all of a sudden insurance sales go through the roof.

It's when you stop looking out for them that they get you. Happens every single fucking time, and it will happen again.

We've seen the results of fighting terrorism with a full scale military this week.

I'm not advocating for fighting directly, but certainly setting up protection measures is agreeable. Something on your turf and your embassies.

Invasion is rarely called for or beneficial for either side in the end.

Terrorism is for the police and maybe for the ntelligence angencies, not for the army, at least not in a way that should influence military spending.

You can be certain that no European felt or feels like they need the US army to pretect them from terrorists.

I can believe Ghani did that. I can also believe the Afghan ambassador to Tajikistan is lying about it hoping the Taliban might let him keep his post if he does PR for them.
