This exact same argument was and is used against the singular they and zir and trans people such. You'll forgive me if I don't see how it's a problem.
No, people opposed "they" partly out of fuddy-duddy notions of proper speech, because they thought it should be preserved in aspic as third person plural. They opposed stuff like zir because they don't comprehend or want to comprehend that some people don't have a gender that matches their sex, because they are fucking neaderthals just like their ideological forebears who thought homosexuality was a mental illness, and before then that women were intrinsically overemotional featherbrains.

And you're opposing a slightly expanded slate of pronouns because...? Catastrophizing about "billions" of potential pronouns because...?

What are the odds that a significant number of people are going to A) care about their gender identity enough to really think about their pronouns, B) care enough to go beyond He, She, or They, and/or C) meet enough people doing B that it becomes a problem to not be a dick?

Look, mate, I'm all for criticizing the bureaucrats when they're fucking up, but I'm don't have the time or energy to sort through the hundreds of thousands of pages of dense legal minutiae that a modern society runs on.
You don't need to, there are people that can explain it to you by summary. Right now in the 21st century, we have copious amounts of information available to us. At the very least we should be able to vote on things like the military budget, M4A, and Green New Deal as a ballot measure. The important stuff.

I changed my argument because it was clear I'd run into a roadblock going along the impact of it route and that roadblock would be arguing over hypothetical population growth rates and hypothetical people that would / wouldn't exist now without the famine.

Also again empire no matter what eating paste magazine chooses to present itself as. It was about enriching the UK through it's empire connections not so much corporate capitalism of today.
Well, here's what you did

Something bad by a dictator. But the dictator was pretending to be Capitalist. That guess a pass

Something bad by a dictator. But the dictator was pretending to be Comminist. No pass

Your argument failed because 1. Stalin was a dictator who twisted Comminism into something else. Eg. Comminism isn't meant to have a government. His mere exists breaks his own concept. Same with any leaders that followed him
2. They were both clearly empires out for their own gain and not too worried about following their own ideology
3. Somehow, you pretended that the existence of one Empire deletes any connection to an ideology, even though that Empire grew up and created that ideology. But.. didnt apply the same exact treatment to another ideology
4. Chernoboyl was an accident. The Potato Irish famine was deliberate. Now, you can claim that it was like that Soviet agriculture scientists who listened to the wrong information and then forced the country to follow stupid laws and stupid unnecessary famines. So deliberate, but accidentally at the same time
5. After Chernoboyl, they tried to clean it up. You could claim it could have been more effective. But generally it was cleaning up to make things better. Once the Irish famine started, the British parliament, they went out of thier way to make it worse. They put in more restrictions and demanded more taxes. So much so that the PRIME FUCKING MINISTER was so disgusted by what he saw he lobbied locals and gave money himself to try and save some of the Irish. The British knew they were killing people and most did their hardest to do the opposite of helping.
6. I really hate when Capitalists keep pretending when a government under their control does the wrong thing its not their fault. Like the British Parliament doesn't have a house of Lords. The house of Commons has a metric fuckton of rich Capitalists (or their representatives) as well. Look at the Dems and GOP of today. They are being lead by the nose by Capitalists. That's how Capitalism works
7. Not understanding the depopulation of Ireland or heaps of countries around the world just incredibly disrespectful and the reason why CRT exists, especially when you are comparing it to Chernboyl. Its comparing apples to pine nuts, no where near on the same scale
8. You would have been better arguing about the Ukraine famines.

1) Has there ever been an actual version of communism without some form of government structure? There has to be some kind of authority structure for things to function pretty much and I can't think of one form or another than hasn't fallen into being a dictatorship only without any way to oust the dictator without a revolution.
2) The workers exist to further the glory of the communist regime so are just tools to be used to further things just as much as with capitalism only with far less individualism allowed.
3) Points to China......... that stuff is still going on. I dunno how divorced from an ideology it can be said to be when various incarnations of the same ideology are showing the same kind issues happening despite being fairly distinct entities in their own right only sharing the ideology.
4) Chernobyl was an accident waiting to happen due to deliberate suppression of known key faults and flaws. Right down to the claims of substandard roofing material being used contributing to the disaster.
5) They also tried to cover it up a lot before eventually admitting what happened. Also helping was throwing bodies at it to a greater or lesser extent. Oh the the help nearly didn't come because people didn't believe it was happening because again it was being covered up to such a degree even internally for a while until it couldn't be anymore. For a while it was just a fire at the reactor and nothing major or so it was presented as by local authorities to those further up the chain.
6) Given the dates of the famine it was actually even before the Representation of people act 1918 in the UK so people didn't have that much of a say so much as established dynasties and aristocratic ruling classes.
7) So is pulling the card you just did to try and present people today as somehow culpable for said actions and trying to misrepresent it as me not understanding it just to score cheap points. I wasn't even the one who brought it up to compare to Chernobyl!
8) See the last part of 7 again.

I take it this child-like naivety on how complicated bills actually are (and need to be) is due to how seriously you've taken your education as you explained in that other discussion on trade schools vs universities...

Any nation the size of the US (or even quite a bit smaller) that attempted to pass annual budgets, systematic healthcare replacement, and a transformational economic, ecological, and sociological overhaul plan via direct democracy would be a failed state within a decade.

Why not a ballot measure???
Who writes the ballot measures? How is it funded? What groups have the willingness, time, and money to spend putting together complex legalese? How long does the average voter have and take to study each proposal? How many proposals are allowed each year? How much more often are people going to need to vote?

Man, I cant help if you're just doing white man history and pretending its just history. Take offense all you want, but that how it works. I understand, it's what you were taught by your upbringing.

Also, just because I bring up things about English past, does not mean I'm blaming you in particular. If you are feeling the guilts like this, maybe that answers your own question. It's not me trying to make you feel guilty about past transgressions. It's just history.

Downplaying the cost of Western society is how you get disasters like the invasion of Afghanistan. If you DO want something for the future, be against certain intervention that are just going to make things worse

As to Soviets covering it up. Sort of. They sure covered some things up but they also asked a bunch of countries for help. Like a day later (like 36 hrs) after the incident. Including the US, who DID help them out. It's the lie of the term Cold War. There were lots of times that the West and Soviet Bloc were incredibly amicable. I wouldn't call the Col War a myth but there is a bunch of lies in that narrative. There were plenty of inaccurate parts in the show Chernoboyl. The cover ups were not what was shown in the show. Eg. Certain aspects were down played and certain aspect were overemphasized.... mainly to fit a narrative. Like, the substandard equipment might not have been an issue if they didnt have the crazy stress test in mind.... but I don't disagree with most of what you sakd there

You know what if you want to trace my ancestors back, bad shit probably happened to plenty of them. That kind of happens when you ancestors far enough back were pirates and traded with and married the daughters of Mediterranean tribal chiefs. If we're going to play the tit for tat game based on history then I think people need to realise it's not going to be fun and games. So you can take your "White man history" and stow it because there's a reason we don't enact the sins of the father upon the son too. Oh and before you go "But some of the effects like redlining etc etc" yeh and that should be looked into and worked on but this idea of owing people.

Does that mean I'm owed because some of my ancestors were likely mixed race and may have come over as slaves? Or do I owe because my ancestors were pirates who likely plundered English ships and well pirates were above dealing in salves sometimes so who knows?

Also, just because I bring up things about English past, does not mean I'm blaming you in particular. If you are feeling the guilts like this, maybe that answers your own question. It's not me trying to make you feel guilty about past transgressions. It's just history.

And how was I downplaying it again? I wasn't the one who brought it up as a comparison I shall remind you again.

Amicable yes but the actual events and what had happened were somewhat covered up and hidden even in asking for help. Also I did look into Chernobyl myself many years before the show so yeh there were reported cover ups that happened not in the same way as the show exactly but they did happen.

The two aren't mutually exclusive. It was a direct result of private ownership of the means of production and the belief that "the free market" would sort shit out. But fine, even ignoring this, the American arms industry profiting from wars across the world, tobacco lobbyists using their wealth to keep the dangers of smoking quiet for decades. Millions and millions of deaths across the world have been caused, 100% directly by private companies trying to keep profits up.

And How many died in the Gulags and work camps?
How many bodies just thrown at the enemy in wars?
Funny really how communism didn't seemingly uncover the truth about tobacco despite being unburdened by capitalism.

Again, moving the goal posts. All you're doing is proving that, when horrible things happen under communism, you hold communism accountable for them while, when horrible things happen under capitalism, you give capitalism a pass. If you can address that one point go for it. If you're just going to continue gish galloping and moving the goal posts then I'm done.

I am opposing the principle that anyone on the planet should be allowed to claim ownership of communally-owned space, and then demand others abide by it.

Particularly when there is an implicit threat behind that claim that failure to comply with such individual whims can be responded to with official complaints and accusations of bigotry.

What a shit hot mess of rich scrabbly kunts

Marine officer who called for his supporters to help him “bring the whole fucking system down” and who is now sitting in a military jail, has become a hero in MAGA world despite slamming former President Donald Trump for “dividing our county.”

Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller became famous in August of this year after videos he posted to Facebook went viral. In the videos, Scheller criticized U.S. military leadership’s handling of the withdrawal from Afghanistan and said they should be held accountable for the deaths of 13 Marines—one of whom Scheller said he was close to.

While the initial video was focused on criticism of the Biden administration’s handling of the Afghanistan withdrawal, a second video posted a few days later on Scheller’s LinkedIn account took a darker turn, when the Marine echoed rhetoric used by pro-Trump insurrectionists on Jan. 6.

“Follow me, and we will bring the whole fucking system down,” Scheller said in the video.

At the time, Scheller said he was planning on resigning his commission, but he was instead relieved of his command and told to stop posting content on social media.
But he refused, and for the last month has continued to post messages slamming everyone from Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley to former President Barack Obama.

He also slammed Trump. “I was told by everyone to kiss the ring because of your following and power,” Scheller wrote in a Facebook post last Saturday. “I refuse. While I respect your foreign policy positions, I hate how you divided the country. I don’t need or want your help. You do not have the ability to pull US together. You may even win the next election. But your generation’s time is running out.”

While Trump himself has not commented on Scheller’s case, the former president’s son, Don Jr., has tweeted support for the Marine, but such support was not welcome.
‘Tell your son to stop tweeting about me,” Scheller wrote. “Your whole family knows nothing about U.S. or our sacrifices. I could never work with you. I’d rather sit in jail and be released with a dishonorable than make compromises in my beliefs.”

By Monday, the Pentagon had had enough, and Scheller was put in a military brig at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. He was scheduled to appear at a pretrial hearing on Thursday, but it was postponed until next Tuesday.

Despite his obvious disdain for Trump, Scheller has become something of a cause célèbre within the MAGA community.

Almost immediately, a fundraising campaign was set up to support Scheller and his family. It was organized by a group called the Pipe Hitter Foundation, a nonprofit that supports servicemen and women and is run by disgraced former Navy Seal Eddie Gallagher.

Gallagher was convicted in 2019 of posing with the dead body of a teenage Islamic State captive. Trump granted him clemency in November 2020, a decision that angered military leaders.

Gallagher’s fundraising drive for Scheller has been hugely successful. The campaign blew past the initial goal of $1 million within days, and as of Friday morning it’s about $200,000 shy of its second target of $2 million.

The fundraising page says the money will be used to support Scheller’s wife and three children, a possible relocation, mounting legal expenses, and “possible loss of military benefits and retirement.”

Scheller’s cause was promoted by a wide range of right-wing figures, including QAnon icon Ron Watkins, who told his 436,000 Telegram followers: “Lt. Scheller is a true hero, and we must do everything we can to spread his message.”

On Twitter, Scheller’s case was flagged by Arizona State Sen. Wendy Rogers, who took time out from promoting conspiracy theories about the Arizona vote recount to spread more conspiracies about Trump being reinstated.

Other GOP lawmakers who lined up behind Scheller are Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, and Madison Cawthorn. Meanwhile, a group of dozens of Republicans, led by Rep. Louie Gohmert, signed a letter calling for the military to release Scheller.

The right-wing media ecosystem also supported his cause: Scheller’s parents appeared on Fox News’ top-rated Tucker Carlson show on Wednesday night, before appearing on Glenn Beck’s show on Thursday night, and Fox News host Laura Ingraham shared a link to the Pipe Hitter fundraiser.

While it seems that most Trump supporters are willing to overlook or ignore Scheller’s anti-Trump comments, others aren’t willing to do so.

“Scheller is anti-Flynn and anti-Trump,” one Telegram user called American Backwoods wrote in a major QAnon channel. “I think he’s a Judas goat.”

Hrmm, not quite. According to Marx's conception, a society without a government was the end-goal, but the road there would necessarily entail a "dictatorship of the proletariat" during the interim, involving a strong state readying the country for the transition.

Of course, Stalin's state didn't resemble Marx's idea in the slightest, because Marx's "dictatorship" was supposed to entail democratic elections and a directly representative government. I was just making the point that a government was envisaged during the road to communism.

2. They were both clearly empires out for their own gain and not too worried about following their own ideology
This part is true, of course.

Truly MTG proves herself yet again to be nowt more than a barely sentient fruiting body born of the spores of trump's paranoid spittle

Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene couldn’t find any facts or statistics to back up her claim that the Green New Deal benefits only China. So instead, she used a Scooby-Doo meme she found on the internet and brought it to Congress.

Greene was speaking on the floor of the House of Representatives on Wednesday when an aide sitting next to her pulled out a giant cardboard sign with a meme featuring Fred from the Scooby-Doo cartoons.

“This is a simple meme that you would find on the internet, but this meme is very real. The Green New Deal, surprise, serves China and China only,” Greene said, pointing to the poster showing Fred unmasking a baddie whose head has been replaced with the flag of the Chinese Communist Party.

Greene’s aide then held up a meme of Chinese President Xi Jinping appearing to say, “I own Joe Biden."

It’s unclear just where Greene found the memes in question, but since her personal account was temporarily suspended from Twitter last month, she has been posting more and more content on alternative platforms like Gab, Parler, and Telegram, where memes like these are shared widely.

Unsurprisingly, Greene’s latest stunt was met with both incredulity and outrage.
“Congress is no longer serious with people like this,” tweeted Rep. Adam Kinzinger, a Republican from Illinois.

Others turned Greene’s stunt into a meme of their own:

But Greene was unrepentant and tweeted Wednesday night that her allocated time to talk had been cut in half, so she would be back with more memes.

“Congress is so dysfunctional that my special order tonight was changed three times today and cut in half from 1 hour to 30 minutes,” Greene tweeted. “These people would fail in the real world and be fired from a normal job. “So expect part 2 of why the Green New Deal serves China, coming soon.”
I just gotta double check: taxpayer money is still paying all her salary and many job benefits, right?
