While more faithful looking, almost none of the characters resemble or only barely resemble their game counterparts. The film idea looks someone's fan fiction from the late 90s/early 2000s where they would just copy and paste RE2/RE3, but have X character tag along or replace another character instead. And if you're gonna combine the two, at least get that right. Chris was never in Raccoon City and left. That was the entire point. Leon is supposed to be different from Chris. The dude went through several redesigns because the first draft looked too much like Chris. If anything, it should be Leon, Claire, and Jill. Yes, I know RE: Apocalypse happened, but we don't discuss that, even though it has the perfect live-action version of Jill.Weird I was going to say the opposite, I think it looks pretty great in so much as it looks pretty faithful to the first two games.
Im not gonna hold my breath as the guy who wrote and directed it only has real stinkers to his name other than "47 meters down" which has a bit of a cult following.
It looks fun and pandering to actual RE fans rather than the in name only previous ones. I'll probably see it just for that zombie hallway scene. That seriously gave me the creeps as a kid.
Have you seen "Train to Bussan"? That movie was an amazing zombie film.Looks like Dog Soldiers is still the best RE movie of all time.
Great zombie move; better than all of the RE films and CGI films. I still consider Dog Soldiers the best RE film ever made.Have you seen "Train to Bussan"? That movie was an amazing zombie film.
Name recognition. Why do they keep making movies out of this series, seriously? Between the live action and animated ones, there seems to be about a billion of them. With Silent Hill, at least they gave up after the second one.
I get what you mean, but, well, what exactly do we lose by having HJK in the role? I mean, maybe SHE stands to lose something if the movie bombs, but she's a solid actress, and even when in a supporting role, does a good job.Oh one hand I'm happy to see Kaya Scodelario (Effy from Skins UK) getting a starring role in a film and finally sort of breaking into movies more considering her last lot of main roles was Teresa in the Maze Runner films.
On the other hand I feel really sad for Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost from Antman and the Wasp) for whom this really does seem like a career backslide as she's more of a side character as she's playing Jill and they're seemingly going to have Jill with the full Stars team and have the mansion as a B plot. Like She's better than this, she's better than having to have the name of an existing character slapped on and I know there's a push to also incorporate the games but she's good enough that they could have just gone "This is Helena our special forces ordinance specialist" and I'd have gone "Cool now I kind of want that character to become part of Resident Evil's game series" because Hannah John-Kamen is that good in my view that they should have been more willing to take risk because she's far better than a side part in what looks to be a cheesy movie with a character name from the franchise slapped on her just to apply the name to some-one in the cast.
Overall it looks I dunno passable as a film. I think the CGI might age fairly badly and it's a shame they didn't try for more practical effects stuff but hey gotta justify buying those massive render farms is how big studios now operate rather than utilising creature workshops and stuff.
More lose the chance for her to play a new character and establish them. It feels like a waste to put her in as an already established well liked character when she could be more than that she has the experience and talent to build something for the franchise as such.I get what you mean, but, well, what exactly do we lose by having HJK in the role? I mean, maybe SHE stands to lose something if the movie bombs, but she's a solid actress, and even when in a supporting role, does a good job.
