I actually can't wrap my head around on how can NFTs exist in a singleplayer game. Is it putting a price on a unique item found for each player, and everyone is putting price on the said items? Sounds like DRM, since it'll require online connections

If they’re going to require an online connection, then that’s indicative of having an NFT market in-game where players will be buying and selling these things, and of course the platform holder/publisher will probably get the biggest cut. If it messes with save functionality then good riddance.

How are NFT's different than lootboxes and other MT bullshit? Seems strange but i do think that if the industry does try NFTs they will probably fail rather quickly because your average player likely doesnt know wtf they even are or why they would want them.

Meta verse?
If you don’t keep up with tech news, the Metaverse may have sounded like an entirely new concept in 2021. That was largely thanks to Meta (formerly Facebook) going all-in on the ambitious digital idea, rebranding it via an expensive marketing campaign. Never mind that the Metaverse has already existed for over a decade thanks to games like Roblox, Fortnite, and even Second Life. With Mark Zuckerberg on board, the public was finally paying attention.

Now that it’s a hip and marketable concept, you can expect companies to get even more explicit about the connection between gaming and the Metaverse in 2022. It’s likely that we’ll see more projects that aren’t so much video games as they are sandboxes where players can hang out in virtual space (with or without a VR headset). Expect more in-game concerts, special events, and digital goods that can be purchased with V-Bucks style currency. The line between “game” and “experience” is going to get very blurry.

The rumor about Cyberpunk 2077 from 4Chan.

>cyberpunk next gen/patch 1.5 will be treated as a soft relaunch for the game. game will be renamed Cyberpunk 2077: Samurai Edition

>cdpr will do a big livestream around february to reveal the patch, the cyberpunk anime and the first expansion

>new patch features: barbershops, a garage, improved AI, transmog system, a complete rebalancing of the loot system, new UI

>the promised free dlc will be bundled in and includes 4 new weapons, new game plus, appartment customization, new gigs

>tons of small stuff like judy and panam sending you more text messages during the course of the game

>first expansion takes place in pacifica which is actually quiet huge

>you walk around and do quests in what is called the "combat zone"

>the combat zone is being fought over by two new gangs: the Bozos (violent clown psychopaths with a sick sense of humour) and a gang called Slaughterhouse (violent psychopath fascists)

>walking around the combat zone feels very inspired by the game s.t.a.l.k.e.r.

>cyberpunk will get it's own gwent like mini game, it involves going to cyberspace and controlling and collecting monster which you can send to jrpg like battles, also has multiplayer

>one of the monsters looks like the reaper, another one i saw looks like an oni

>the cyberpunk anime called Cyberpunk 2077: Edgerunners is made by Studio Trigger with writing and story made by CDPR themselves. it looks absolutly insane. Beautiful 2D animation that reminds me of Akira.

>another expansion is in early stages of planning but will only be released if the first expansion is a success

Edit: If it's true I still think it's lackluster somewhat.

It'll be a rip off of Steam Trading Cards with extra layers of dogshit and blockchain shovelled on top.

You know, I feel this only happens when the game launch is bad, or god forbid the game is bad on a fundamental level.

As a BF series follower, my experience with the series has been following:

BF: Bad Co.2: First BF game! Holy shit, this is my first xbox 360 game/online shooter. This is awesome!
BF3: Oh my god, the graphics are amazing!
BF4: WTF is this shit?! I'm going back to BF3! At least that game is functional
BF: Hardline: I mean the launch is great, but the base game is meh. Time to go back to BF4.
BF1: Holy fucking shit! The atmosphere! The chaos! The gunplay! I love it
BFV: WTF is this shit?! I'm going back to BF1!
BF2042: WTF is this shit?! I'm going back to BFV! At least that game is functional

People on reddit and twitter are making fun of BF community for their "Going back to the previous game and calling it good" behavior, how it's been happening with every BF game, and how unpleasant the community is, but I think it has nothing to do with the players. I think it's more or less caused by the shitty launch

Why this behavior is not blamed on EA is beyond me, but I'm glad the players are showing their dissatisfaction this way. Keep in mind there was a plan to include Tom Cruise-wannabe specialist as the last content update for BFV before being canned

Reminds me of the phases Sonic and Halo fans go through whenever a new mainline game comes out.

Used to love Sonic games. But just like with everyone, I kinda fell out after Sonic 06. Actually, I think it was combination of that and the 4kids dub of Sonic X on TV

Thank god I don’t pay much attention to battlefield, at least Halo isn’t released annually.
Aside from the really old games, I could never get in to the franchise.

I did not exactly fall out, but I would not play ever Sonic game released. I would pick and choose, or wait later for a sale. Out of all the Sonic games released in the 2010s, Sonic Generations is still the best. Unleashed I've already stated my feeling; Werehog sucks, end of lecture. Colors relied too much on the Whisps, Lost World I did not both with and don't have a Wii U anymore, Forces was okay, but clearly rushed and full of wasted potential, and while Sonic Mania is good, it relies too much on nostalgia baiting and not enough original levels. You can blame Sega for the reuse of old levels. Also, Sonic Mania ain't the best in the franchise and is way over hyped by nostalgia blind fans, haters pretending to like Sonic, and a bunch of contrarians and suck ass gaming critics.

Sonic, maybe, but Halo? The only time I've seen anything resembling that was the jump from Halo 4 to Halo 5, where after the latter was released, the former started being treated more generously.

Lost World I did not both with and don't have a Wii U anymore,
You can get it on Steam. You'll lose access to the Nintendo-exclusive content, but on the plus side, you don't need to worry about motion controls. Personally, I enjoyed it.

You'll have to ask @laggyteabag, if you have a chart picture posted somewhere in one of the old topics that represented this mindset and cycle.

Thank you for the info about Lost World being on Steam, but I don't think my laptop is powerful enough to run.
