Tom Henderson and others shared more info about EA's folly on BF2042. There are way too many tweets to cover, so here are some highlights:

I would say DICE is on a chopping block here, but Bioware fumbled with Anthem and they are still around. EA might keep DICE around for name recognition only, but who knows

I'm a little skeptical of Henderson at this point. I think he's enjoying being the prophet of doom for 2042 a little too much. That said, yeah, no hope for the game. Even if EA did decide to support it past what they're legally obligated to do, the same devs who fucked the franchise to shit are the ones who will be fixing the game.

Another delay.

Not surprising, and I am happy.

This is jarring news. Especially on Nintendo's part.
I can believe Nintendo is also feeling the effects of the supply shortage. I know getting finding a Switch at retail has been hard at times in a lot of places, but around here supply has basically never been short. Even at launch or early in the pandemic, when people where buying them left and right, I could've confidently gone into a store and walked out with a Switch.

But not anymore it seems. I was in the market for an Oled Switch to replace my launch model one, mostly for the better battery life. I had planned to get it after Valentines, but was keeping tabs on availability, and noticed all models going out of stock everywhere and at an alarming rate. Saw several models, including Oled, regular and several Lite colors go from available everywhere, to only in stock at a few stores in a matter of days. One of which fortunately at the local Game Mania (GameStop equivalent, but less malevolent).

So I pulled the trigger, and good thing too, because I'm pretty sure I got the last one in the entire store chain.
Nice

I know Best Buy, Meijers, and Game Stops in Michigan, a good amount Switches are still in those respective stores for now. Disc Replay has got used/refurbished Switches. Though I have not see too many OLED models. Game Play (a better version of Game Stop in Michigan) seems to have Switches for now too.

Always good for a laugh, these star citizen updates. And way less depressing than those other modern day cults going on too

The fact the game continues to make record funding yet release is perpetually pushed off into the not to distant future is the most interesting part by far.

Eventually it's going to crash and burn when the whales get fed up enough to get them to finally stop paying or it'll release and most of us will see the product of 15+ years of dev time and go "meh" except for a small community of diehards who will love every second of it.

The game better be amazing, considering it took 8-ish years to make.
I care more about the live-action Suicide Squad and its spin-offs more than the game. A mind controlled/evil Justice League and Superman is boring and has been beaten beyond a dead horse. Even without the delay, my interest went immediately to -50% when finding out who the main villains are in the teaser trailer.

Speaking of,

Apparently it must play pretty well. Would be kinda ironic if performance was better than its source.
Haven't actually played it yet. Planning on it tonight. Checked out the settings tho. Arbitrary framerates are supported, incl. uncapped, so it already has a leg up on og Bloodborne in that regard. And I can't imagine my pc, or any decent pc, can't run this smoothly at whatever cap I want. Standard it comes capped at 20fps , and with a host of effects turned like dithering, texture warping, crt filter, etc, turned on. You know to emulate the PS1 look. Tho you can turn those off, or fine tune them if you don't like how the default settings look (to a kind of ridiculous degree).

Also, afaik the controls are authentic og PS1 too i.e. no dual sticks, no analog. 8-directional digital movement on the d-pad, camera control on L2/R2.

Here we go again....
Yeh, figures.

But like it or not (and there are good reasons why it's reviled), they keep'll putting Denuvo in games. Depending on which version and exceptionally quick cracks like RE8 notwithstanding, it does have a pretty good track record at delaying piracy by weeks, months, even years. It'll never get the most fervent pirates to buy legit and will get cracked eventually, but by that time the game will already have made most of its sales, and some of the less patient ones might just cave to FOMO in the meantime. After that, once it's in long tail, they can take out the Denuvo if they want, or leave it in, because it probably doesn't matter all that much in terms of sales anymore.

Techland said:
“Being gamers ourselves, we understand your concerns, and we want to ensure that it will not impact your gaming experience. We continue putting extra resources into testing the game, and at this stage, we do not see any noticeable impact on the performance. We’ll be actively reviewing feedback during the game’s launch. Do not hesitate to share yours with us too.”
Hmhm, I wonder how well this'll age.
