You shouldn't need a Russian diplomat's perspective to figure out that Putin is not appreciably worse than Biden or any other US president of recent memory.
I was just hoping you were at least paid by Putin to act as his unfiltered spokesperson on this forum.
For someone who likes to act like he's all "critical" you sure do love to just repeat bullshit from autocratic regimes.

You don't think the United States is the most powerful empire in history? Not to mention the most greedy and overbearing in the current moment? Are you that silly?

But this isn't just about the US. This is about you saying things that could very well have come out of Lavrov's mouth.
You're going through a lot of hoops to justify Russia's imperialism and when called out about it you just divert the point to "but what about the USA!".

There are vastly more Russians who have fled their homeland to the USA than Americans who have fled to Russia.

I can't help but feel that tells us something about which country is a more pleasant place to live, and let's not pretend it's just the money.

Ireland

RTE (state broadcaster in ireland) decided to host a debate, the topic of which was essentially "Sinn Fein, Good or Bad?" Included in the lineup was exactly one member of Sinn Fein, offering the sole supportive voice for the opposition on the panel.m and barely ever getting a chance to speak uninterrupted for longer than 20 seconds at a time. Across the aisle was Eddie Hobbs, a disgraced businessman who lost 13m of small investors money on what was largely accepted as a massive scam and cofounder of Renua, a far right minor political party. Also he was personally called out by the holocaust museum for comparing the unvaccinated to Jewish people during the holocaust. He is a greedy, scamming fasci little prick. Accompanying him was a property developer/major Fianna Fail donor.

It almost completely backfired with people sharing a clip of a podcast host grilling the whole panel about how they keep trying to blame the one major party that has never been in government for all of the problems the country has faced over the last 100 years.

Not terrifically relevant, but ok

Congratulations on living in an imperial core rather than a periphery, I guess?

Cry more that the evil Russian diplomats-- those manipulative Slavs!-- speak more truth than people like Jen Psaki

The USA is where I live and whose propaganda I have to contend with-- which distorts my and your perception. This is just a necessary part of putting allegations about other countries in their proper context. World hegemony with more than 800 military bases amongst its 'allies' and foreign territories that is trying to establish a(nother) military presence on the other side of the world on (what is barely, if only for its nuclear capability) a rival's doorstep is whining about "imperialism"? Smells like shit!

Someone trying to convince you of something is not justification to go around claiming the opposite. You are, in your own way, basing your entire foreign policy view on pro-US propaganda.

Look at that: Another set of assholes whining and crying, because people of a different race they don't like are being positively represented. I agree with Korey: they can screw off, fuck off, and get over themselves. I bet you 4:1, that most of these people upset about the casting want the series to fail now. When it does become a success, they'll all make some lame ass excuses about how that the numbers are "false", or that the show "got lucky". I can already hear the Quartering rage about it now.

I don't claim the opposite without justification. I do highlight context, suggest other possible explanations than those provided by the propaganda, and claim opposites when there is justification to do so.

For example, I'd have to say "maybe this isn't true" about the Nayirah testimony at the time. Reflexively claiming the opposite would have been more correct, alas.

So what are the alternative explanations for the massive troop buildup other than invasion or wanting to create the threat of invasion?

What "massive" troop buildup? We've seen headlines about there being many tens of thousands of to a hundred thousand troops on the Ukraine border for years.

Anyway, where else should they house their soldiers, Siberia? Near Japan? Have you considered that the main population centers of Russia are all pretty near the Ukraine? This is almost as silly as complaining about the Canadian military being near their border with the United States. As for the presence in Belarus, they have had scheduled military exercises. Not that I'd expect US media would ever report that explanation; you have to actually listen to what Russia is saying about what they are doing (treasonous!) to hear that.

But when you do listen to what Putin is saying, he's saying that if Ukraine were to joing NATO it would trigger nuclear war. "Guys, come on, we're just doing scheduled military exercises and posturing about turning the world to glass, perfectly normal Tuesday."

What happened doesn't actually matter. It all boils down to "would it be anti-US/anti-West to make the claim?"

Must be a day ending in 'y'.

And yeah, 'Western' fantasy has always had amassive issue with representation because it's origins are mostly cribbed from Western and Northern European myth and folklore (often chewed up and regurgitated to suit later cultural sensibilities)... not to mention prevailing attitudes regarding race when the earliest 'modern' authors were kicking around. Even if the authors themselves weren't racist bellends good luck getting anything published that conflicted with socio-cultural sensibilities.
