That's possible. They have all the yuri/yaoi stuff, but it's either fetishized or seen as "something you grow out of".
That seems unlikely considering most popular anime is made under similar conditions.
True, but it’s also typically more “their style” of it, without the cultural dissonance baggage.

The opera house scene in FF6 isn't romantic or moving at all. It's a diversion from the main plot and interspersed with too much goofiness in the rafters to actually be immersive.

Limited Run Games is overrated and over priced. Even though they claim you can't get these games, if you don't pre-order them, you can still find them at Best Buy, Wal-Mart, or even Target a few months down the line, after the packages are shipped to the people that reserved. If you care about the overly expensive special/collectors editions, then yeah, you're missing out on some cool or okay bonuses and packaging. Otherwise, they've been straight up lying and have done so multiple times. Streets of Rage 4 being the most egregious example. LR claimed that no one else would be publishing or selling physical copies of the game. A few months after the extension of reservations were done, Amazon, Game Stop, Best Buy, and Target would be selling copies of the game without LR label. These copies have the Sega and Dotemu logo on them. Pre-orders were offered on them just after they were announced. For further insult, a new version was released that has the Survival & Extra Characters DLC. So LR was lying big time, and I most likely never gonna get anything else from them again. Once I get the Double Dragon Collection from them, that will be last game I ever pre-order from them.

Crysis series is the better Far Cry. I said this in the thread I made, and I still stand by it. Crysis may not be an open world game, but it has the true spirit of the FC1 and FC: Instincts. Linear shooters with semi-open environments that let you tackle encounters and objectives however you want. I do consider Crysis the weakest of the trilogy in story, pacing, and level design. There are 2/3 of a good game, but once the Seph shows up, it all falls apart.

Crysis 2 is more consistent and fun to play. I do admit they did some unnecessary streamlining of combining certain suit modes or having them run off the same energy bar, but the game is still great. You're in an urban jungle, instead of an actual jungle island. Emphasis on urban. A far cry from the last game. You can tackle combat counter and objectives however you want, and the Seph are way better and more interesting to fight and sneak around. The only other gripe with the game is the upgrade system is way too expensive and some upgrades are useless. And the AI can get dumb, and stuck in environments because they think they're in a jungle instead of a city.

Crysis 3 is the best game in the series. The best graphics. The best gameplay. The best story. The best characters. This game truly makes you The Predator in human form. While it is by far the shortest game in the series, there is no padding, or short levels. Each of the 7 stages will take you at least an 1 to an 1 hour and a 1/2 on your first playthrough, depending on skill level and difficulty. You have the best upgrade system, and upgrade kits you have to find the off beaten paths in the environments. Secondary objectives make are return and are even more rewarding. Vehicles make a return of appearing more often. Running no longer drains you suit energy without cloaking. Dat Predator Bow is a game breaker too!

Whenever Crysis 4 does release, I pray they take and combine the best elements of 1, 2, & 3, and make the best linear game they can. I hope Crytek does not go open world with the game. If they do, I'll still get the game, but I will be somewhat disappointed.

There is not a single game in this whole universe, no matter how gritty, grounded or realistic it wants to be, that cannot be improved by adding a double jump mechanic. As soon as I taps that jump button in mid-air, only for my beefy heavily-armoured overweight character to ignore physics and jump even higher, the sudden glee concocted by the influx of endorphins and dopamine just overrides all other logical thought processes. Don't care if it's Ghost Recon, God of War, any of those artsie walking simulators, dating simulators, real world physics simulators....just add double jump, ain't no-one judging here.

This has absolutely nothing to do with me only finding out you can double jump on your horsey in Elden Ring last night. nothing at all!

Just because a modern horror game does not have camera angles and limited inventory like a PS1/PS2 game, does not make it any less survival horror. Survival Horror does not have to follow some arbitrary rules of the old days, due to some random jerk offs online saying it's not "true survival horror". For those wondering, I am referring to Avalanche Reviews and Score PN. The former is a cool guy, but goes way overboard on what he considers "true survival" horror and can kinda be up his own ass on the subject. Even if he is being "nice" about it. The latter is a straight up douche that should be avoided at all costs.

EDIT:
Between 0-0:50 is where I had to roll my eyes, and say "Whatever."

Excellent hot take.

Personally I agree from a purely game playing mechanic perspective. But the part of me that wants "immersion" or can't stop role-playing thinks it's so stupid and wishes double-jumping were banned.

I'm pretty much done with the "FROM games are too hard/conceding too much to normies" debate that's spooling up yet again with ER out. I just....I don't care anymore. I like the games, recognize they have jank and shit that could be implemented better and agree there's clearly unbalanced bits in all the games or sections I just don't like(Iron Keep). I also realize this is what FROM does and FROM will do what they want in thier games. Sometimes they'll make a misstep (world tendency) and sometimes they'll integrate Qol improvements (bonfires near boss rooms) but this is what they do and expecting something radically different is probably a waste of time.

t's just there's always the inevitable"Game is too hard" then "Git Gud" in response and the argument just fucking spirals around forever until something else catches everyones attention and the whole thing goes dormant for a while.

I mean... just a few posts above is posts reminding each other that Nintendo's gonna do what they're gonna do, their own thing, and people love 'em for it. Same for FROM, or any other entertainment producer with a loyal fanbase.
The world is more fun with unique and different things out there.

All that said, no one IRL has these arguments, do they? I mean, it's just an internet thing, right?

Depends completely on the game for sure, but maybe it could fit in a dream mode, because anything is possible in dreams.

I disagree. I think Plague Knights campaign was clearly inferior to King Knights and Specter Knights from a gameplay perspective. It was just a retooling of the base games levels while the subsequent campaigns were all new levels.
But the story and characters more than made up for it.

We need a new golden age and return of Fighting Game/Brawlers/RPGs like Red Earth and Monster Maulers.

My hot take for today is: in Breath of the Wild you can run to the final boss right away.
But.. so what?!

Ok granted I don't like BotW and I'm in a huge minority and, I guess I just don't get it, the game is super boring and ugly-looking and not fun IMO. But that's a matter of opinion and all that. If people like exploring that world and doing the little puzzles and breaking weapons that's their prerogative.

The one thing that people praise about that I don't get as that you can go to the final boss as soon as you start the game, or get past the opening area or whatever. And of course you have no power-ups and all but the most hardcore of gamur gods will get slaughtered by it but you have the option, and this is good because it's freedom of choice and truly open world.

But I think it's stilly to praise a game for "allowing" the player to do something that is stupid and not fun. Or, if you can run to the final boss and beat it, congratulations, you are rewarded for not playing this game you bought?

I have the freedom to punch myself in the face. But it would be stupid to do that and not good. Why does everybody keep telling me that in BotW you can run to the final boss, like I'm supposed to be impressed by that?

Because speedrunning is a thing.

It's not exclussive to Breath of the Wild and is only really brought up shortly after a game's launch, and then promptly dropped once the marketing has died down. I'll bet you there's already 'beat Elden Ring in [insert very short time span]' videos on youtube. I think Sifu had similar videos after its release.

Far Cry 4 also had coverage about how you could just wait at the start of the game for the big bad to return to have the game end right there.

It can be considered a refreshing contrast to the gatekeeping most rpg’s or action games have with progression. Like where you are specifically told you need to be a certain level before fighting some bandit that looks the same as ones you fight early on, using some weapon that looks the same as one you already can use, or being told you’re too low level to go somewhere while exploring.

Some of the more common complaints about The Witcher 3’s progression system for example are talked about here -

Well, if the bit just before the final boss is a giant painful mess that's a good thing, but then you could just not have a giant painful mess in the game. Lots of games have parts I'm just playing to get through, rather than enjoy. Skipping straight to the end rather than skipping just the giant sewer level and playing everything else is a bit extreme, though.

I guess it's a super hard challenge for those who want to. I mean, you miss like 95% of the game and you have to be super fucking good or careful to even get to Gannon with 3 hearts and a stick, but I can see people doing it as a self imposed challenge once they've beaten the game.

Or you're just fucking insane and you love shouting "LEEROY JEEKINS!" as you charge the laser spider drones with a tree branch in your underpants.

Considering the...robust discussions I had in high school and college with my friends about the video games of the day, I'd say yes they happen in real life but are unlikely to be in most adult work places unless that place revolves around games already i.e. EB Games or your local equivalent. Or you're at the pub and had a few schooners already.
