It should have been a slam dunk and instead it was "Oh, that thing that sounded really good in theory but SE fucked it up somehow because they figured the license would sell itself and didn't bother to make a good game out of it".
Lesson: The best premise in the world isn't going to mean much if the execution is sloppy and/or lazy.

How is any of this new or news worthy? This was found out and known years ago. A majority of FFVII fans didn't even care; especially when the remake actually came out. The only ones were a super mall minority, and most of them instantly forgot about it or said water under the bridge.
